  1. Re: Answers & Questions Q: How do you know that Satan asked you to get a container of milk, a loaf of bread, a stick of butter, and a dozen fresh souls? A: If I had a million dollars, I'd be rich.
  2. Re: Making Dancing weapons? I just had a nasty thought: berserk dancing weapons. Once they start fighting, they don't want to stop -- and when they run out of enemies, they turn on any friends in the vicinity and finally upon the wielder himself unless brought under control. Could be handy to guard the back entrance of the keep, though; you never go there, and anyone who does enter that way is presumably trying to do you harm -- and how do you fight something that has no body?
  3. Re: Xena, Gabrielle, Joxer and Autolycus This makes it sound like the cast and crew of Hercules and Xena had entirely too much fun (and entirely too much free time). I get the impression that Kevin Sorbo actually enjoys making Grade-Z movies like Meet the Spartans which don't exactly add luster to his reputation. I wonder if shows or movies with actual budgets are uncomfortably unfamiliar to him after his years on Hercules and Andromeda.
  4. Re: Money in Fantasy Setting GURPS 3rd Edition's Basic Set warned that cross-dimensional traders could get extremely rich very quickly if not kept in line, for this very reason. The problem is that that kind of metagame thinking can get in the way of the adventure. It's a conundrum: you want to keep your PCs in a position not to refuse reasonable opportunities to adventure, but 'reasonable" becomes much more limited when the PCs are very well off. This is less of a problem for greedy PCs (who always want more no matter how much they have), but not by all that much (if they can figure out less dangerous ways of getting rich and powerful).
  5. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat "Here. Let me slice up the franks for the casserole."
  6. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat And the fraternities are causing so much trouble.... Wait a minute, that's the Cult of the Greek. Never mind.
  7. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat "Mimes guard the Balance of the Universe? Who knew?" NT: Subtle signs that you really shouldn't have eaten that second helping.
  8. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat "We should go see Punisher: War Zone. It's a great date movie!"
  9. Re: Eberron Hero Does anyone know if Eberron is still going to be supported or even discussed now that D&D 4e is out and now that the MMORPG has essentially died out? Or is the setting going to be re-released with changes to reflect the new rules? Expiring minds want to know!
  10. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Make a lunch for him that blows his own cooking out of the water, and watch what he says about it.
  11. Re: THE BOOK OF DRAGONS -- What Do *You* Want To See? Then there are the pocket-sized dragons that are prized as wizard familiars. Just how intelligent the little critters are varies from campaign to campaign, as is whether they're a small species or the hatchlings of larger dragon species. How dragons reproduce and raise young is another interesting question to which each campaign probably has a different -- even unique -- answer.
  12. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat ...great power bills.
  13. Re: Mammoth Genome Decoded -- Clones on the Way?
  14. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Slap them in the face with a small fish. Or, if you really like them, an enormous fish. NT: Silly reasons to start a nuclear war.
  15. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Why is rooting for the Lions such a drag? A: We gave peace a chance. Turns out we didn't like it very much.
  16. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Paint the wall of his room, and then sit quietly watching it dry. Repeat as needed. NT: More things that are less exciting than watching paint dry.
  17. Re: Mammoth Genome Decoded -- Clones on the Way? Since when has a Pulp story depended on the efficiency of the bad guy's Master Plan? Most stories that involve cloned armies of whatever assume that cl;ones grow up far, far faster than a normal member of their species -- sometimes even virtually instantly. It's like Marvin and his vending machine of Instant Martians (just add water).
  18. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Sailor Moon Knight. NT: More signs your favorite TV show is now being written and designed by Phil Foglio.
  19. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What just came down upon my knee? A: But as she turns her back on the boy, he creeps up from behind....
  20. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Foxbat in the Sky with Diamonds (in which dear old Freddie decides to steal an airplane filled with jewelry intended for an exhibition -- complicated by the presence of about 150 other people on the plane....)
  21. Re: THE BOOK OF DRAGONS -- What Do *You* Want To See? In the Slayers-verse, there are several incompatible types of dragons. Most are animals -- alarmingly powerful animals, but animals nonetheless. But the most powerful dragons, the Golden Dragons, are more angels than physical beings. They are the "priest beings" of the goddess of light, and can take human (or at least human-like) form when they need or wish to interact with mortals (which is rare -- they're still smarting from a war against the Demon race that they lost).
