  3. Re: OK, so I ordered 6E Fantasy Hero Well that makes sense. I can deal with 9 points. OK, I've been playing with spells on my HD. I'm stymied on one cause Its a limited or conditional power and I'm not sure what value to assign it. What I want is a fireball like the example in Valarius the Harper BUT it only affect the undead and evil people (and maybe mimes). The goal is to have a killing attack for hostage situations that will not hurt the innocents within. this is where I really need the book. DnD has alignments. I have no idea what in Hero fantasy. Has this spell been done anywhere?

But I gave 5 points each to Immunity from Insects, Weeds and Blights Here is what I came up with Blessing The Fields: Life Support: Immunity to All Insects, Weeds, Blights, Safe from Drought, Safe from Frost.   5. Re: THE BOOK OF THE EMPRESS -- What Do *You* Want To See? Steve, I would specifically like to see a 5th Column organization supporting the Empress and spying for her here on the Earth. A possessed assassin droid from a dimension heavy in both science and magic that the empress can send after pesky heroes. Maybe some details of an Empire Spy Agency assigned to infiltrate enemy dimensions, coordinate with 5th columns, and deal with pesky earth heroes. Every invasion needs a little advance intelligence. More details on how the Champions fomented unrest and diverted an invasion. Fomenting unrest might make for a great player adventure.

I like this. Safe from Drought, Safe from Frost are a point each. safe from all Pests, Weeds, Blights/Disease. Are these 5 points each? I'm just going to steal that right out. Thank you! Darn.   7. It should arrive on Wednesday. The only example of a Fantasy character is in the Basic Rulebook page 126. Valarius the Harper. All his spells are purchased separately. Can you use a multipower framework for spells? Is the spell system free or structured? Are starting characters agent level at 175 points? I'm actually looking to build a concept I've had for many years. A simple cleric of an agricultural deity suddenly thrust in the world of adventure. He's not really the adventuring type, but ends up doing great deeds of renown and becoming famous in spite of his best plans. He will still wander out at night and bless farmer's fields when no one can see. But he's not a druid or a ranger. He is a 4-H kinda guy who hunts down vampires, and prefers well ordered farmlands to wilderness. My wife brought him back to mind when I helped her make a character. She has two powers that would fit this concept to a T. 1) Sweet Campsite. Major Transform 4D6. 8M area Effect +1/2 Makes Soft grass bed for sleeping. Broadleaf Rainproof Roof. Thorn Bushes form Protective Hedge around Perimeter. No insects, snakes or mice. Dispelled by time, natural forces, or by another application the power. 2) Nature’s Bounty 4D6 Major Transform (something from nothing) Local plants produce a variety of fruits and vegetables 8M area effect both of these powers are 60 active points. Certainly a power to bless a farmers field that would say, increase yield by 50-100%, would eat at least as many points just with the area of effect cost. The only way I can think to keep the cost down is thru a multipower. Not sure if Multipowers or 60 active points are allowed. I won't know for sure until Wednesday, or if the great minds here enlighten me. What are the starting limits of your campaign?

  9. Re: When, if ever, would your character kill? Neither Black Falcon nor Psidestep have any points in a code vs killing. Nor do they have any code of conduct. Black Falcon has no lethal (to the living) power. She can induce unconsciousness, but would have to resort to other means to kill. That said, she would choose not to kill mainly because the mainstream hero community depends on a good relationship with the police. that relationship means she can have a secret ID that protects her from litigation, and the police who are public retain the power of life and death decisions. Are there times when she would kill? Yes. If it came to a choice between letting a hostage die and killing the criminal, she would kill without hesitation. If the Law enforcement community would not understand, then she would retire, and they could handle the super villains. frankly she is not worried about it-without a super killing power she feels she won't be crossing that line. Psidestep is a different case. He was a slave fitted with loyalty nanites and brainwashed to be a spy for the Empress Istvatha V'Han. His mutant nature allowed him to escape. He wandered for years in the multiverse. He killed in self defense many times. He was not trying to be a hero, but to simply survive. Upon his return to the Champions Universe, he contacted Primus and the Champions themselves. Primus knows all about him, and what he can do. Primus gave him a new secret ID, and Psidestep is a hero today...but Primus is watching. That is what keeps Psidestep in line as a hero. Unlike Falcon, he can't just kill and retire...no. Consequences will come calling for him. Still, he would react much like Falcon in a hostage situation. The Shade has a code vs killing. Not at 20 points but at 15, for just the situation described above. His problem is he is naive about being a hero. He doesn't know it, but The Shade will face real temptation is he ever runs into professional terrorists like the ones who killed school children in Belarus, Russia. People who hurt children are the most likely to make Shade to cross the line. No one is above temptation. The Red Mask taunted Batman because he found it too difficult to kill. Batman responded saying he wouldn't cross the line-not because it was too difficult, but because it was too easy. And that's how I generally play my characters. I don't like to constrain them to 20 point Total Code vs Killing, but on the other hand no character of mine has ever killed-even without the code. Shade only has the code because he believes its what a hero is supposed to have.

  11. Re: THE BOOK OF THE EMPRESS -- What Do *You* Want To See? I am really looking forward to this Book. Steve, I have a 400 point 6E character, Psidestep based on the Empress. During her first failed attempt to take the CU, she kidnapped a number of humans for use as spies later on. He is a dimension hopping hero who made his way back home, and as a result he is Hunted by the realm's secret service (one hero in this case is small potatoes to bother the Empress of a billion dimensions over). So I would like to see heroes/villains with dimension hopping, origins related to the Empress, or actively resisting/aiding her rule. This is one where you can really go wild with the characters and create very non-human supers, like intelligent floating Jelly-fish and such. Psidestep has a link in my sig below. If you like him, feel free to use him, alter him anything you like. I has serious fun tossing all sorts of dimensional powers into him. This is where I am totally envious of your job. You will have nothing but fun putting this project together. Lierally you can tie all the other Hero Products into this one. Players can visit Pulp Hero adventures to fight Nazis allied with the Empress, Fantasy and Scifi Hero....everything fits into this book. I would like to see, an abbreviated list of locations. I had a spy academy (built just for CU's human spies) located on an isolated desert planet, with Dog Soldiers. loyalty nanites, and cerebral bombs. --any number of quick locations where a dimension hopping hero can stumble into an adventure. like Dimensional relay stations for travelers, and loyalists. Even in the CU universe, there are those who would join and support the Empress. A fifth column sort of group. This would be a great way for the heroes to gain access to a dimensional travel device...and a faulty navigation program. They would have contact with a number of powerful villains assigned by the Empress to study Earth's Hero problem. Have a ton of fun with this, Steve! You have the best Job in the world. Going to a Con is a business expense!

  14. Its a day off for the heroes, and yours is no exception... Black Falcon flys to the top of a building with a portable cooler full of great stuff to drink, and meets some friends who flew up with a grill. They will watch the fireworks from there. Shade is on his boat with friends, spear fishing for dinner, and coming in close to shore for fireworks. Psidestep teleports to Epcottt center for the best fireworks ever. He too will grab a rooftop seat, and summon 4 babes to share the good times with him... Red Dragon will march in a parade. Play with friends, Barbeque, Drink to excess, make some inebriated comments (in public) about Green Dragon being a pansy, and wake up the next morning with no memory of fireworks or the fact that he wore his costume inside out when he made those comments on TV...
