  1. How do I determine the range for Clairvoyance? I have a character who can teleport approximately 124 miles (with mega scale). I wanna use clairvoyance in the same way. Maybe I'm a newb...but there is nothing in the power description that defines the range. Am I missing something? Is there an overriding rule presented elsewhere in 6E?
  2. I'm still waiting on the grimoire...but I'm really desperate to see examples of arcane spellcasters. especially at starting 175 point level. Valarius the Harper just doesn't feel like a typical starting character.

  5. Re: If you are going to have a Familiar... OK, I'm working on the master right now and I ended up tweaking Circe. I changed her life support...It had the same error that Bigbywolfe found...the usable by others showing -1/4 when it should be + 1/4th. She originally had granted self contained breathing because I envisioned her as a tiny air elemental...but now that she is not, She grants immunity to all disease and poisons.---a bit more useful for a starting character. But now I'm 3 points off, so I removed the "Persistent" from her desolidification. She really didn't need it. and all is well in the world

  7. Re: What If? Fertility Control If fertility was a conscious act, all the races would be at the knife's edge survival wise. children have always come at unexpected times, and forced all sorts of ingenuity to prepare for them. __Kings would be forced to have court mages cast secret fertility spells, invisible power effects, mega scale. On the other hand large families could be a cultural thing...Pioneer America for instance. But once TV was introduced, the birth rate went down...After an Hour of Lawrence Welk, no one's gonna reproduce. Zip. Nada. NObody!
  8. Re: Spells/Powers only useable when mark exposed I like the concept. I would use both distinctive features "spell touched," and the 1/4th Restrainable. The reason? Paranoid mage haters may just cut off the offending hand, or put out that evil eye...Of course the mage haters wouldn't use "Spell touched" they would call them, "witch marks" or "demon signs"...or something colorfully negative.

  13. Re: If you are going to have a Familiar... OK, Circe' goes slightly blurry, like she's not quite focus, and she loses all color, like Jeanie's black and white episodes. OK, so now I'm interested...how would you tweak her to fit?
  14. Re: If you are going to have a Familiar... Aha! Hero designer doesn't know that. and here I thought I was all that. I will tweak it a bit, fix it up. FIXED: Rewrote the need to stay close, and added: Concentration (1/2 DCV; -1/4), Extra time (Full Phase -1/4)……44 active points Hmmmm. Let me ruminate on that for a bit...
  15. If you are going to pay the points for a familiar, it should be USEFULL. So you have a talking crow....OK. How does it benefit you? Here is what I came up with. Background/History It was the summer session at the university and Sol was looking to create something of value. He succeeded beyond anyone’s expectations. He was just a first year student, He mastered the cantrips, learned the spells, and empowered his first staff. He wanted to make a homunculus, but he wanted a work of art-the standard formula just wouldn’t work. Haunting the local book shops, Sol stumbled across a great find…in an old glass case there was a stuffed pixie. It was more than a hundred years old, and completely illegal. Sol bought it for a single gold piece. He visited a wig shop and purchased golden elven hair. Sol commissioned a doll maker for the finest softest clothing he could afford. The rest of the ingredients were at the school: his alchemy class equipment, a thousand ants crushed and powdered, enchanted clay, and of course 2 pints of his own blood… For three days and nights he poured his heart and soul into his creation. The masters were amazed. Sol had produced a masterpiece. He called her Circe’ after a mythical mage of yore. She was beautiful, with long golden hair, and graceful limbs. But she was empty, and lifeless. Little Circe’ was animate, and would do whatever Sol told her to, but she would not speak, or smile, or show any sort of emotion. Sol felt he was not finished, that he had left something out. It was a wise old master who saw though his student’s disappointment. “You have given your creation form and beauty, but to give it life you must bind it to you as a familiar, in soul as well as blood.” Sol began to research anew. In an old tome, he found his answer. Locking himself in a room with Circe’, he began the ritual of binding. When the candle burned low, and then incense burned out, he broke a gemstone and released a swirling storm of embers. It was too much for Sol, the room spun with the whirling embers, and he blacked out. Morning. Sol opened his eyes with a groan. He had a headache. Circe’ stood before his face, staring at him as passionless as ever. Then her eye twinkled, she smiled and said, “Good morning, Master.” Personality/Motivation Homunculi are supposed to exhibit their master’s personality and quirks. Circ’e breaks the rules. Her master is serious, she is bubbly and happy. She loves to laugh, sing and dance (and in general fascinates bards). Circe’ and Sol are best friends just as master and familiars are supposed to be. She eats and sleeps, just like Sol does. She definitely has a sweet tooth. And kittens. Circe’ LOVES kittens. She has learned a few spells with her master at the university, and carries a focus at all times: A miniature wand that Sol empowered for her. But she really loved learning to speak Draconic with her master. So few take that course that she feels its like a secret language just for the two of them. Sol thinks not quite sure where the singing and dancing come from. He speculates that some remnant of Pixie’s personality may have remained in the skin. All in all, Sol is quite happy with his new friend. Quote: CANDY! Oh Master! We must get some! You know, for your journey. I’m just thinking of you, Master. Powers/Tactics Circe is not meant for combat. She will go desolid and hide in Sol’s pocket or under his hat. She even has a sliding window in Sol’s hat so she can peep out. She has a number of useful qualities that she can pass onto her Master. Her life support will extend to him, granting Master self contained breathing and longevity. Her fly spell can be cast upon Sol as well. And her Detect Magic was taught to her by the head master himself, to aid a promising young student who had succeeded so well. It is discriminatory and can analyze magic. She prefers to cast her fly spell and just leave it on all day. Moving at 4M just won’t cut it for her. Campaign Use At 35 points, you can use her yourself if you want. She is designed to be useful for a mage Appearance Circe’ looks just like “I Dream of Jeanie.” She is 12 inches tall. She will probably be smiling at something when you first meet her. Background/History Milo is a Halfling. He’s not a barefoot Tolkien Halfling. He wears boots, thank you very much. Yes, he lives in a hole in a hill with a round door, but he’s never heard of a Hobbit or a Hin. Just as many Halflings live in the big city as in the countryside. The whole Halfling thief thing is just a myth, most Halfling are trustworthy folk…like Milo He’s a cleric. Milo’s story started in his teens. He grew up on a farm, stood to inherit a prize piece of land, and had a great girl who just agreed to become his wife. è And that’s when strange events changed his life forever. Local livestock began to disappear. Skeletons walked the fields at night. And his girl ran off with a gnomish necromancer. Milo would not stand for this, and joined the nearest temple (belonging to the Halfling deity of agriculture and harvest). After learning a few spells (and before his training was complete), Milo charged out after the dread dead menace. He found not a single necromancer but a cult that worshiped undeath. Knowing he had little hope to take them on his own, Milo sought out the local Lord (a human paladin, by the way), who lead his men against this temple of evil. In the battle, Milo met and killed the gnome…who just happens to be the son of a high priest with the cult. A blood feud has been declared against Milo. There was no sign of the girl. Heartbroken, Milo bid farewell to his parents and began a wandering adventurer’s life. He can’t take a parish for fear that the cult will send an army of the dead and hurt those under his care. So he was given the title of friar and set lose to help those in most need. Milo’s superiors have granted him a lot of freedom. Currently he is the only adventuring cleric the Harvest deity has. As such, Milo is bringing a lot of attention to the Halfling Pantheon, and has been granted the Right of Shelter at any Halfling temple. Personality/Motivation: Milo does enjoy helping famers. Between adventures he will sneak out and bless fields, charging nothing more than a hot meal or a soft bed for the night. He loves to find a poor area and surprise the locals with a tree bursting with fruits and vegetables of every type, ready to be picked. As an adventurer, Milo does his best to support the party. For some reason, most expect him to be a thief. But he is forgiven when he starts casting his speed boosting spells, or bringing in armloads of food every night. Quote: Powers/Tactics: Milo did not finish his training, He never did learn to Turn the Dead. He’s spending time at every temple studying, and hopes to learn this essential skill soon. He prefers to open with an entangle, as it take no damage from attacks. When it comes to evil, Milo has little mercy. Smite and be done with it, that’s his philosophy. If he has a chance, he will try to cast his speed boosting spell before the battle. After he learns to turn, he wants to find a few more boosting spells like a plus to STR. Campaign use: If the players own a farm Milo may want to bless it. He considers such acts more a part of his purpose than mere adventuring. Appearance: Milo is a Halfling. Handsome and athletic, he runs faster and is stronger than most other Halflings. Farm work and adventuring will do that to ya. 17. Re: Summoning Question Hmmm. No Comments yet. In truth, I'm setting y'all up. There are some very interesting moral questions here. This is actually a very interesting villain. He looks nice, can splash some wealth around, but is actually cold and ruthless. --This is the personification of "Power tends to corrupt. Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
  18. Re: Summoning Question Summoning and Spells This is a school of magic based on a convenient alternate dimension in especially close proximity to the caster’s home dimension. It is also fraught with danger, as there are those powerful enough to cross over into this dimension and exact revenge. Hence many of these casters wear masks of utilize other magics to hide their identity. The spells are mostly based off of EGO as its used to exact tasks from its victims, but a good INT is also valued. Should a summoned servant die in this dimension he will disappear and end up in his home dimension…dead. The better spells all involve slavish devotion. 19. OK, so I just got Fantasy Hero, and I'm tossing together some ideas. Here's one. Summon Soldiers (page 464 Fantasy Hero). The concept is of a Summoner who can summon creatures for an adjacent alternate fantasy dimension. He uses a mirror to see into their Dimension and pull them over. Slavish devotion is just part of the spell. Would you just bring them over with the equipment they are wearing/carrying...or does it need to be paid for in character points? Oh, and another question. If I wanted to summon other races with the same stats, would that be an expanded group of summoned creatures?

  21. OK, so I’m looking for a few comments and tweaks major or minor for this solo villain. I want him to take on a PC party all by himself. When I start my campaign, the first few adventures will be to test and feel out the players fighting style. Once I’m ready I want to toss this guy at them and teach them the fear of GMs. I’m thinking he’s more of a team player right now than a party tackling solo threat. He’s built around the minor powers, the Dance of Death and 360 Degree vision (those two powers came first and the rest just sorta flowed outa me). I also need a better name. He has a secret ID at the moment and enjoys the peace it brings him. Madigan will ruthlessly hunt the hero down who puts him in Stronghold. With his power came big dreams. Madigan wanted nothing to get in the way, especially not the FBI. The people who knew him best are all dead. He doesn’t trust anyone enough for advice, so he starts his career with bank robberies thinking that’s how villains start. Then he will run a gang. And later, the mob. After that, well Madigan wants total power. Personality/Motivation. He wants it all. But its difficult for him to trust others. Madigan is willing to have people working for him, but not the other way around. Madigan is a narcissist, its all about him. Any defeat or wrong answer may result in murder. Streetwise heroes may know Madigan is in town when the local thugs disappear. Dealing with Madigan is like playing Russian Roulette, the guy can go off at any time. Quote: Bang! Bang! Bwa Ha Ha Ha! Somebody is gonna die today! Powers Tactics: Madigan is an energy projector. But it doesn’t look that way. He has a zero point physical Manifestation. He produces a matching pair of huge pistols. They never need reloading, he can’t be disarmed, and they do Super-levels of Damage. His 12D6 attacks are not a single blast, but a hail of gunfire. Heroes who have faced him describe it as facing down a Gatling-gun. The “Dance of Death is a short range rapid-fire teleport where he can change face at will. Combined with a seeming 360% arc of vision, he is a very deadly opponent. He can target an area and shoot everything that moves. He can destroy a bank vault door with a hail of fire. His tactics are simple, move, kill. Move, Kill. Move kill. As he gets more experienced, his tactics will improve but only with experience, never with advice. Campaign use: Madigan is meant to be a villain that can take on a whole group. As a hunted, he is relentless but single minded. Super villains quickly tire of his self centered nature and will abandon him at the first opportunity. They may even provide information to heroes or attack him themselves. Madigan just doesn’t work well with others. Appearance: Madigan likes to look like a villain in the old movies. He wears a (many times purple) zoot suit with a wide brim fedora with white gloves and spats. He carries no weapons, but the pistols just appear when he wants them too.
