well, I am not mask-fearing.  I just require oxygen.  😁

I've kind of gotten used to the cloth mask, for stretches of time.  Though, if I were to have the need for  any real physical exertion of any type, the thing might be too thick.

My mother's invalid niece (well they were near in age, mother being youngest of 11 kids) died.   No, not from the virus, but from a long bout of Parkinson's (been kind of expecting it the last 6 months, to be honest)

It just sucks with the current situation, we cant have a proper funeral, as my mother would've really like to have properly said goodbye in that way.

I am probably more pro-capitalist than most here.   And I indeed feel it is best in most areas, but most is not all.  And I try to be a pragmatist.   And want optimal for both sides whether capitalism, socialsim, or something totally alien is needed.

And while under normal circumstances, I would not be for Yang's $1000 a month idea, March-May 2020, is not exactly a normal circumstance.  I don't know how much money should be given out, certainly enough for food.  possibly for other things.  Certainly mortgages should just get frozen.   Rent is a weird in-between thing.  Some landlords need that incoming rent money to survive themselves (I know several people who rent out their old houses they moved out of and couldn't sell for example), so I don't know an immediate answer for that.  At least something beneficial for them next time property taxes are due wouldn't be out of order.

I never disagreed on a macro level.

But, you didn't have to tell us you have no sympathy, people in rural areas already know.  hence, why self-sufficiency becomes a big thing.   More about survival.   As unlike the rosy picture you painted, there is rarely that larger community that rallies around you, when in need.

I started to post more, but I realize banning is possible due to my feeling on the matter.  ANd I just don't care if you see the other side of things.

Interestingly, mentioned in the paper, that there are 3 rural counties here in VA, still yet to have a case.  If I lived in one of those counties, it would be hard for me not to feel like that I am being buried into financial ruin, so some politicians can pat themselves on the back.

well, the reality is these counties are being hurt disproportionately to how the disease has moved..   The sparse population insulates them from the danger of the disease.  But, it also works against them, as there aren't enough of them for government to give a damn what happens to them.  My point was from their point of view, I could see someone thinking  "we cant get money to buy supplies, we (theoretically) might not be getting a decent amount of supplies even coming in, what are we doing this for?".    On a most basic level, it is hard to justify closing down a random small mountain community because some city 300 miles away has a disease.  Especially if little to no business is done between the 2, and their only connection is that they share a state.

Essentially,  being too self-sufficient does often lead to isolation in your time of need.   Not being self-sufficient enough leads to being slave to the whims of your benefactors (often gov't).

Hmm, saw somewhere WHO claims it is natural in origin, while National Enquirer (last time I went foraging for groceries) claimed something about it being Chinese bioweapon gotten loose.

Sadly, I never thought I be inclined to believe the Enquirer between those 2.

Note: I don't mean to be a conspiracy nut,  and I hate to hand Trump anything at all (though no calls for calling it Chinese virus like an idiot from me, and I wouldn't say bioweapon as that implies intent, when I figure the naïve or imcompetent mishandle accident is the best bet).  But, this is the 4th time in under 20 years, a nutty disease got unleashed from specifically China.  Fool me once shame on me, fool me 4 times and I need to be committed.  The WHO might be asking a lot out of me, to trust the Chinese gov't.

Mercules, was for hire to several of the other tyrants, before carving out his own domain.  In some ways, his people are the most "liberated"  has he is semi-disinterested in actual rule.  Just doing enough, so the others don't complain about outlaws running amok across his borders.

As far as the Tara Reade-Biden thing.  I will only say, just make sure as info comes out we don't do any mental hurdles to exonerate Biden in our minds, when we have  condemned others in the recent past of the same or similar.  My personal interest, I hope, will be in the truth.  The consequences must fall as they may, for me.

Note: Just laying it out how I am going to stand personally on the matter.

As far as possibilities of where they can come from.  I had a cousin who was working in Asia when it hit (Vietnam, but I never can remember).  I think he was quarantined for a couple days when he got back.  (I think one person on flight had some telltale signs, so they needed to test him first, but I cant remember all the details.  It was about a month ago)

So, an isolated case of that or 2, could probably get a place started.

Note: and my cousin, 60 years old, and a heavy smoker until he got pneumonia a few years ago.  So, he dodged a bullet, I'd say.

Yeah, several others did go with some plastic facemask type (looks like a clear "welder" mask).  Not really feasible, for me,  I realized in my mind quick, I would probably in my job whack one hand or another on it about 15 times an hour.  THe cloth mask does seem to be quasi-helpful during disinfecting duty......in lessening my exposure to breathing that  (I have occasionally had to go get a little fresh air, maybe I am just more sensitive to it, I don't know)

Of course, with my large head, I can barely get those straps around my ears.
