  1. Re: Character Posting Game. ChuckB, Why don't you go ahead and post the next challenge since you actually fulfilled the last mainline one?
  2. Re: Character Concept Question: Jack Hawksmore? Ummm...let me see if I got this straight. He wore Tokyo. And he beat up Kansas City. Mmm Hmmm. ... Ooooh!! I get it now! You're supposed to read this stuff stoned! No wonder I never really got it before. Although, I guess I could buy the idea that Kansas City is evil...
  3. Re: Character Background Help I'm sorry to hear about the demise of the group Tom Foolery (I always liked them) but I do like the new solo psycho. Except for one thing: he has no defenses. Nothing. 5 pd & ed for a 400+ character...is he supposed to be the glass jaw kind?
  4. Re: Community Standards Too...many...punchlines...aack!!
  5. Re: Super Metals and Alloys Since the Beyonder has already been mentioned, I don't feel so bad about bringing this up... In the Secret Wars the Hulk managed to haymaker Ultron and dent him. And this was nowhere near maximum Hulk-power.
  6. Re: front of the line Ok, it's been a month, and even as a lurker I hate to see this thread die! Therefore, I'm getting involved. But, man-I really had to go searching for it again! I've been wanting to create an index of this thread for a while, a list of what the challenges were, who answered them and with what... I say this before I actually do it because I know there are some other index-hobbyists who may have already done it. But to really get things going...a new challenge! I would like to see an African martial artist. (Note-not African-American, but from-the-heart-of-Africa African.)

  8. Re: What superhero world concept are you tired of seeing? You can count me in the Anti-Anti-Mutant group. What kills me about the whole hysteria thing is the damned inconsistency of it all. If you're phobic about mutants, how the hell do the other supers get so popular? But it gets truly ridiculous when other supers are anti-mutant! It just drives me crazy. Not to mention that the sole reason for the X-Men's existence for the past oh, two centuries now, has been to defend themselves from people whose sole existence is devoted to killing them. Interaction with the "outside world" is non-existent. The world/UN team doesn't bother me so much because I see it more as an excuse for the team to have stories around the globe rather than a political agenda. Using the Punisher as the definition for a world or genre has always turned me off. For my money, though, there aren't nearly enough Nazi worlds!
  9. Re: Here you go... That's pretty close, but for real effect he should be confronting somebody in the picture. Say Dr. Strange, or Thor or, oh, I don't know...Captain America.
  10. Re: April Fool's, Champions style What about the wannabe villain who's trying to prove to CLOWN that he would be a worthy candidate for membership...?
  11. Re: Things a wise super hero should NEVER say "Hey, gang, watch this!" Translation: Watch how easily I (humiliate myself/die). OTOH, I would pay to see Reed Richards say "Back off, man...I'm a scientist."
  12. Re: How would you build a Slingshot...? Funny you should ask that, Foxie. The character I'm tweaking (endlessly) as we speak is a slingshot weilder. As has been discussed to great length on the various archer related threads, a common way to do it is buy the offensive power with no range and then buy the range through the slingshot (or bow) focus. That being said, a slingshot using ballbearings as offense would work a bit differently. I bought my ammo through a multipower with range based on str, but that's because the ammo all explodes upon impact. While you could throw a ballbearing, the damage is going to be insignificant. When fired from a slingshot, though, especially with careful aim, the damage could be pretty good. Additional thought, a slingshot doesn't suffer the disad a bow does as far as improvised ammo. Any marble, rock or coin could be used in a pinch. I would consider buying the slingshot as a multipower, with the first slot the ballbearings, and the second slot representing improvised ammo. Oh, and a third slot for HA would be good. Some high tech slingshots have a covered pommel that would be very useful in melee combat.
  13. Re: Can you suggest some powers for these images? Holy Crap! #3 is the spitting image of one of my characters...minus the penis, that is. But seriously, I made a character some time back called the Silver Hydra who had the snake-head mechanical extra limbs thing going, too. Hmm, maybe that idea is more widespread than I thought...
  14. Re: I Need an Arkham Asylum Clone The Calvin Coolidge Home for Dead Comedians Still Valley The Christie House
  15. Re: THE ULTIMATE BRICK -- What Do *You* Want To See? A lot of good ideas already, I'll just elaborate on some of my particular interest. Telekinetic bricks should definitely be in there. In fact, I'd like to see an article or two on how the brick archetype would combine/interact with many different powers. Frex, bricks with absorption, multiple limbs, as mentioned growth and DI, shrinking, stretching, tunneling, running (I love the Rhino), clinging, desolidification...there's a lot of ground to cover there. Related to that, the topic of non-traditional bricks, or anti-brick bricks. Also, the invulnerability issue should be explored in depth. There are those that consider the low strength but indestructible characters to be bricks. I'll also second (or third, i guess) the notion of bricks for other genres. I'm sure I'll think of more. I just wuv big stroong men!

Delete what? There's nothing here. Heheheheh...
  18. From this evening's homework: “Continually†is used in reference to something that is frequently repeated, but with stops. “Continuously†refers to that which is steadily ongoing without interruption.
  19. This one has some great potential. Unfortunately, a town controlled by a major supervillain has been done already. "Welcome to Orlando, the Town That Eisner Built."
  20. Re: Odd hero concept ? Ok, I see where you're going with this... Umm, you lost me. Not where I thought you were going at all...Ok, to answer the title question, Yes, this is an odd concept. Unplayable? Not at all. My first impression, tho, is much more subtle. I'm going with the sommelier image, one of sophistication, intellect, breeding, class...I think brute strength is out. I would focus less on the fighting image and go with stealth. I see him skulking in liquid form, a dark crimson shadow that slowly slides down the shadowy hall, it grows into a vaguely humanoid shape, the shiny scarlet fluid playing with the light... Desolidification (of course); Stealth/Invisibilty; Clinging; NND "Drowning" attack, no range; Dam Reduction; Shapeshift; Cosmetic Transform vs. foodstuffs
  21. The Hero system does have some absolutes, though. As has already been pointed out, desolid is in there, as is NND. These both exist as all or nothing powers, which defies the point based convention. Personally, I hate when people use desolid to mimic invulnerability, but it's become somewhat common these days.
  22. My question would have to be how different are the new bodies? Are we talking Dr. Who type, where the changes are mostly cosmetic? Or is this a Multi-Man style, where he is reborn with new powers and stats?
  23. I always thought Sam should've played Wyatt Earp. I like Kurt Russell as much as the next guy, but let's be serious...
  24. I realized one day that most of my characters had something freakish about their appearance. Some were full blown non-humans (ie, The Machine, robot/golem), some monstrous (Grunt, Thing ripoff, err, homage ), and others were more subtle (Slipknot, normal except for 6 foot writhing green braids). So I challenged myself to create a totally human looking character, and that was Crisis. He does have three large tattoos, though...
  25. Priceless. Absolutely priceless! So, when do I get to read the team-up with Bizarro Hitler?
