  1. Re: Tricks vs Attributes I was wondering, in general, how people feel about getting alot of tricks but not nesscarily having the attributes to back them up? Would you let a pc with a "mere" 40 strength get a power that let him do "knockback" a target for miles? The SFX being simply "She's a brick." Or do you prefer character have the attributes to back up their power stunts? While I'd be inclined to suggest that most people would like to see an attribute to back up such 'tricks', depending on some of the more specifics of the character, I could see having a 'trick' or two, especially if its a main part of the concept. Like a brick who is, for example, named 'ShockWave' as I'm sure it would be nice if said character could generate her namesake . I'd also like to point out that there is nothing 'mere' about a 40 STR if you really think about, being able to toss about roughly 7 tons [don't have book ] is nothing to laugh at. Beyond that from a GM perspective it's also a matter of how cinematic one's game is. ~The Maxx
  2. Re: The great armour race... Hmmmm... while I don't run FH myself I've got a bit of experience to work with. So here's a few suggestions: -for all of that Dex, make your player's justify it for the character being that agile, one not every Tom, Larry and his other brother Larry is going to be acrobatic specialists -for the armour race, if it's not too much of a stretch, you might want to take your group out on an ocean going adventure where all of that 'heavy' amour is just as much a threat as any danger from the sea -remember to use any limitations on any armour, especially combat luck, to the most, and make them realize that all of the points spent on this and that could have been put to better use elsewhere. Also for their rather exceptional grace you might want to have them mistaken for thief-like types and similarly graceful knaves. just a .01 IRS took the other one
  3. Re: What would you character do... Ultimus, my 1000 pointer that I've never played would likely swat them down like flies and undo some of the damage they've done
  4. Re: What would you character do... Depends on the character One of my first, Quantus would likely use his cosmic power to make either an attempt to stem their tide of violence or go dimension hopping and recruit whatever aid he could find MassHammer would be easily misled and end up joining until they hurt one of his friends or a child, then he'd do his best to crush them {and having a mangled truck that he carries around and uses for a club should help} Chillbane would likely suit up and go underground to the best of her ability either rallying supers to her aid or joining up with someone else whose decidely opposed Shadowwalker knowing he's way out of his league would more likely endeavor to quietly oppose this threat to humanity Ordainer would probably rashly resist and get smushed or go underground as well, though if they can actually provide convincing evidence to support their actions he might even join them [was part of a DCish Kingdom Come game that unfortunately didn't last, as one player after another had to leave due to RL]
  5. Re: Superhumans pulling an Authority Really, I figured that this group would be all for giving people an option to live out their lives in some useful manner as opposed to outright slaugthering said individual. Still catering to freewill of a sort is a point in their favor.
  6. Re: Superhumans pulling an Authority With the amount of power bandied around with these, if the players actually thought things through they're response might not be so simplistic. to counter your examples 1. SAVE THE WHALES Why would the 'heroes' do this when it's likely that they'd be capable of altering the whales themselves. Perhaps decreasing the gestation & maturation time, while increasing the lifecycle of the whales and several other endangered species, as well as the sub-species that are required to support the sudden increase in population. Or in short, make more whales, that are possibly faster stronger and more durable if they sought to discourage hunting of the species. 2. TYRANT At a guess, if they don't direct things personally after divesting an oppressed nation of it's tyrant. With the number of points these individuals are built on it's likely that they'd be able to find a decent person whose equal and willing to do the job of running a nation. There's also a question of how exactly they deal with a tyrant, they might just change him permanently to more benevolent individual, possibly wiping out the old tyrannical persona to begin with. 3. NO MORE POOR It sounds like, creating homes, food, resources is definitely in the capability of said characters. And sure that does mean there'd be dependence issue, but it's not like these character are going to die anytime soon. Heck, there might be one or two that might even be able to literally impart useful skills to those who'd be amongst the poor and give them a means to support themselves. Of course there's also the fact that their simply being in existance could and would play havoc with any normal economy, but so would the introduction of free energy, food and shelter. Which I believe is what they'd able to offer.

  8. Re: Superhumans pulling an Authority If you think about it, don't certain world leaders already view some of us as little more than 'sheep'. I've little doubt I'd be sacrificed without a second thought if that insured some politically driven individual a postion of power. No I don't like The Authority at all, and the world would be a very harsh place for someone like myself. And without their powers I doubt any of them would even have such inclinations in the first place. On a side note, tackling that last statement, if rumors are to be believed, and this was a rumor I've heard the U.S. 's current commander and chief did a bit of snorting back in his day. And here's were I agree, PR would be their biggest issue, as for relating to the common man, well for that it'd depend on how Doctor Mahattanish they are. Having seen little info as to how powerful these individuals are [i.e. write-ups] that would be a bit hard to judge. Stepping a bit back from where this idea was going, it's interesting that a lot of people seemed to agree that goverment's would escalate the issue with these individuals and react violently. I'd see diplomacy to be the morelikely course myself, we'd try to talk to these individuals first and foremost. Military force would likely be a last of the last resorts. Another thing to consider would be a persons survival instinct, in face of such beings, would a 'realistic' officer of the law honestly obey orders to attempt to bring in someone, with whatever paltry equipment they had, who could punch through walls, get hit by a oil tanker full on and have it explode and walk away without so much of a scratch, or could literally move faster than his eyes could follow. There is something to be said for personal risk. However I'd think there'd be a diplomatic approach before a military one, unless these individuals proved to be remarkably hostile to such overtures. But that's my .01 the IRS took the other one
  9. Flattery will get you, almost everywhere, and for the rest there's infinite power, or at least power that continually increases with the passage of time.
  10. try adding a fully invisible Change Enviroment that adds penalties to hit with area effect attacks
  11. Well if one's not queasy about active points, or the real points involved You could try this , based off of 4th with a Fred advantage added, 200 real, and wtm active Superman Invulnerablility, Desolidification, vulnerable to Superman, and physical solids, Usable Against Others: ×1024000000 mass/targets, 8½, doesn't work against magical targets/effects; Invisible: To All Senses, +1; Reduced END: Zero & Persistent, +1; Area Effect (Radius): 51" radius, +1; Mega Scale Area 1" = 100km: +¾; Concentrate: 0 DCV, -½; Extra Time: 1 min., -1½; Extra Time Required: Only At Startup, ½; Doesn't work near Kryptonite: Slightly, -¼; Doesn't work without signifigant yellow sun radiation: Slightly, -¼; Hole in the Middle: Variable Size, +½ 0END
  12. Another possibility for the grabbing of objects, could simply be a focus based VPP with a skill roll required of course, and perhaps even side effects from getting the wrong device
  13. Re: Re: a ? about SPD now that's interesting I didn't know that the rules had put a cap on SPD like that or more to the point prohibited more than one action per second in that fashion
  14. has anyone use characters that have a SPD higher than a 12? and if so how did you work in the extra phases per segment?
  15. for my own I allowed 'The Amazing Muto' in one of my games a shapeshifting space fish, who had an Invader Zim like home and Clark Kent occupation who needed to eat to shapeshift and was able to eat anything whose favorite form was that of a cross between a Cockroach and a Tyrannosaurus Rex
  16. Re: It didn't happen Mickey Mouse as in the Sorcerors Apprentice (wizard)... oh wait he's more likely to be a villian...
  17. stepping up to the plate My question is ... Just how many character's on either side are we talking here, especially if we include the vilians? Cause wouldn't it then just fall to numbers of which side has the most 'fight ender's' just my .01 [the government took the other one]
  18. Voltron, Tranzor Z,... Raideen, Danguard Ace, GodPheonix... They were all knock offs of the one and only GIANT ROBO who undoubtably could crush them all to metal scrape or plastic mush for some of the newer bots
  19. Next challenge on the list And for our next challenge A normal looking animal or object with superpowers, that requires a Human sidekick, [i.e. the animal has few or no powers to make up for the lack of human abilities, like hands, talking, etc...]
  20. Apologizes for the formatting and this was built from the old Hero Creator Program, [haven't gotten around to getting HDC, yet] and alas I didn't have my Fred with me. So, instead he found himself walking, and he walked for a while until he came to the park and sat down by a tree to think about what he was going to do. Soon enough he was talking and muttering about how unfair things where going for him. When he heard a voice behind him to cheer up as things could've been worse. It was quite a surprise that day when his powers kicked in, especially since most people think they're crazy when they begin to hear voices while talking aloud to themselves. After wondering wether he'd lost it, he came to realize that he was actually talking to the tree. And slowly he came to embrace the wonderment of this unique gift. As he talked with more and more people, places and things. He began to learn of the forces he could tap into from his unusual talent. From there he decided to take a plunge into the world of superheroes to test his talents to the fullest and inspire envy in those like his fiance who discarded him in the past. POWERS/TACTICS: For the most part he tries to talk his way out of situation or call upon the aid of his rather impressive variety of allies [i.e. summon help] QUOTE: "Words are my weapons, Words are my way, my Words you will listen too, my Words you'll obey!"
  21. character A has AE continuous attack up, Character B enters the area and is affected performs the move-by and continues out of the area then still has enough movement to turn around and enter the area again in the same phase. Is Character B only affected once per phase or is B affected each time he enters the area? And is the inverse true, Character A moves [for this example assume the area sticks to A] and catches B once in the continuous area, then moves away and back to catch B again in the same phase. Is B affected more than once in this instance?
  22. Presume said character is desolidified and has full missile deflection & reflection, and an attack with the Affect Desolid or his limited special effect weakness hits him. Does his Missile deflection & reflection power have to be bought with the Affects Real World advantage to work against either of these cases? Or is the character limited to deflecting & reflecting attacks only from other desolid opponents?
  23. Slight of Hand a shrinking Martial Artist Cat Burgler A normal looking cat, with thieving skill and powers to compensate, likely to be TK The Fence Forcewall projector and Entangler as well as connections to numerous buyers and ellicit goods Date-a-Thief Roguish type character with Mind control powers, used to acquire info
  24. to add some, very, very bad pun names Pi Rat genetically enhanced rat that uses mathemathically based superpowers [think trig, geometry, and calculas] ESP n' Age An old psionicist that also had the ability to age his opponents Skull Duggery A tunneling zombie thief Dr. Nein {German for 'no'} mad scientist type that has 9 clones and the ability to shutdown powers The Kahn Man bandit raider able to instantly summon up a conquering army of mongolian raiders
  25. As another idea, mind both of these are borrowed from previous books. You could also have the character thats a mentalist that just makes everyone think he going that fast. AE Mental illusions or Invisiblity and precise applications of Images. ie "I'm here" shift the illusion as the hero attacks, "no slowpoke here" enjoy the frustration and the vilian literally blurs from spot to spot Or use duplication/summon so that our badguy is so fast that he can be in several places at once. Of course you could just hog wild and give our mentalist above actual speedster powers as well
