  1. Re: Playtesting Champions With Cats How do you get the lizards off the table, then...?
  2. Re: A Bathroom As has been said before, you draw it on the map... If you draw it on the map, it takes up hexes... Hexes aren't free, you pay for them... Look at the Base Size Table... You spend points to give the Base its allocation of Hexes... After that, anything that takes up space is consuming this limited resource during design... ANYTHING... If you want to add extras with points, you can, but defaults are free other than the space they take up...
  3. Re: New Power Advantage: Edible I would do it as a transform on the food... Then define the stats for the effect of the adulteration...
  4. Re: As a GM, do you charge for...knick-knacks One option that occurs to me is to set aside the Minimum Cost = 1 point rule for commonly available knicknacks... Thus, if Limitations can get it's Real Cost down to 0.5 or less, they can have it free...
  5. Re: The Things I've Learned Playing A Mentalist I tried to introduce a friend and his brother to the Hero System, and he wound up making a 100 points VPP to simulate a Magician... I tried to tell him it was leaving him unbalanced in other areas, but he wouldn't listen... Meanwhile, his brother went for Powered Armor with a Multipower... I put them against each other, and the VPP wound up being used for a Mind Control... His brother broke free with his first Breakout Roll, and KOed him so thoroughly it was pathetic...
  6. Re: The thing's I've learned playing a Brick... Have you ever tried throwing a ball bearing as hard as you could with any accuracy...? Plus, the ball bearing will leave the slingshot with much more velocity than you can throw, because of an inherent limit on how fast you can throw something... You can't throw anything faster than you can move your hand... The slingshot changes that...
  7. Re: How would you build this...? That sounds intriguing, but can you link a Multipower to another power...?
  8. Re: The thing's I've learned playing a Brick... Well, by needs I meant having them on hand, so when someone says I wanna play a _____________, you can hand them the appropriate Ultimate guide... Plus it would let me spice up and individualize Villains... Gotta save up cash, ayup...
  9. Re: The thing's I've learned playing a Brick... To GM properly, I'm going to have to invest in the entire Ultimate collection, aren't I...? Anyway, this will be handy for the Brick I have, made out of Metal, with 3 permanent levels of Density Increase... Or the equivalent powers to that, given that that's how you're supposed to do it now, instead of putting Always On on Density Increase... Other powers he has... Armor Piercing advantage for his STR, to reflect that his hands are steel-hard and have 8 times the mass of a normal human's hands, as well as a ranged attack, the SFX of which is a Slingshot firing ball bearings, stressed for him to be able to use his full strength with it, which means it will do a 2d6 RKA, so I figure having a Casual STR of 30 instead of 15 sounds about right for him...
  10. Re: The thing's I've learned playing a Brick... Out of Curiosity, where did you get the value for this Limitation...?
  11. Re: The Things I've Learned Playing a Var.Power-Pool User Stat the Powers out in Advance... Seriously...
  12. Re: The thing's I've learned playing a Brick... Having the Armor Piercing advantage on your Strength is Niiiiiiiice...
  13. Re: The Things I've learned playing a Metamorph If you take too many forms, that small child with the rock will take you out while you're deciding what to use...
  14. Re: The things I've learned playing a Martial Artist Your Combat Skill Levels should definately apply to your Offensive Strike...
  15. Re: The Things I've Learned Playing A Mentalist They may call it a smart bullet, but your mind control won't do squat...
  16. Re: The Things I've Learned Playing Team Leader... Spend points on a Base... Seriously...
  17. Re: The things I've learned playing a Speedster... Having the Autofire Advantage for your Strength is spiffy...
  18. Putting this in the Star Hero section, since it's a Sci-Fi weapon... It forces plasma through a throat between a paraboloidal chamber and the ellipsoidal focussing chamber, to produce a converging tidal bore pulse of plasma that has a go at punching through targets out to around 50 meters or so, after which the plasma rapidly dissipates... The plasma is a mix of Deuterium and Helium-3, and undergoes a microfusion event in the throat as the weapon fires... If the plasma bolt doesn't penetrate, you wind up with a plasma splash covering the target and its surroundings... Also, if the weapon overpenetrates, you get a cone-shaped plasma splash beyond the target... A miss would also produce the cone-shaped splash once the bolt passed the 50 meter mark... Plasma is very, very hot, in the thousands of degrees... Any suggestions for how to do this in Hero System...?

    A phaser in hero

Re: A phaser in hero If it wasn't a phaser rifle, then what WAS Kirk using at the end of "Where No Man Has Gone Before"...?

Who had time to learn to read when you could catch a wave? His life was great, until his parents moved to New York City to move up in their jobs, and took him with them. His only friend is this really smart, (like genius!) kid, who he got grouped with in Science class. His friend is actually responsible for helping him figure out how his powers work, and what he could do with them, although his friend thinks it was all hypothetical contemplation. Personality/Motivation: His ambition is simply to accumulate enough money to move back to California, and buy himself a beachhouse. Quote: "I just want the money, man." Powers/Tactics: He picks a bank. When no one is there, he shorts out the alarm system, breaks in, cuts through the door of the vault, grabs valuable and highly portable items, and beats it out of there before the police show up. Campaign Use: Small scale Villain. Might be recruited by a Mastermind later. Appearance: Long hair, skinny frame. Dresses in a dark blue wetsuit, with black boots and a white body vest. Talks like a California Surfer Dude.
  21. Re: Flight Limitation... Okay, that's it... I'm pulling the ability out of the Elemental Control, and putting it into a two-slot Multipower... I'd post the character, so everyone can see what he looks like, but the Hero Boards Templates either don't seem to work with HDv3, or the output isn't compatible with these boards any longer...
  22. Re: Flight Limitation... Except Flight Only on a Surface lets you run up the side of a building, which he can't do... It also means you can only skim the water's surface, but he isn't limited that way... For the earlier question, he has a 5d6 Major Transform to create the water... Look at the Unliving column on the Object Body table to see how much water that might be... His control of water is by using his SFX teleport to swap water molecules that are moving in directions he doesn't want out for water molecules that are moving in directions he does want... It can make water flow to where he wants it, but it won't let him suspend water in midair... He could create ice by teleporting in freezing cold water molecules, but he wouldn't be able to fly through ice as it's a solid... I'm mainly trying to avoid the cheese factor of only buying swimming, yet saying he can swim on land since he can create water... He'd be able to do it, so I'd prefer to figure out a way to pay points for it... Maybe this: Flight, Useable Underwater (+1/4), Only to mimic Running and Swimming (-1/4)... The only alternative I can see is to pull the movement out of his Elemental Control, and do the Running and Swimming as two slots of a smaller Multipower...
  23. Re: Flight Limitation... Well, it covers underwater, but yeah, this character wouldn't be zooming through the stratosphere... I *could* just buy Swimming for him in the Elemental Control, but then technically he'd be stuck where there's water... Except since he can produce water at will, that isn't really a limitation... The main thing he can't do is gain altitude unless he has a huge wave under him... In other words, if he wants to go up, he has to flood the area... Not too bad at sea, but in the middle of town, well, you know how police are...
  24. How would you rate Flight, only to duplicate Running and Swimming...? A character has the ability to manipulate water, including the ability to create it out of seemingly nothing via a teleportation SFX... It gives him tremendous swimming ability, but since he can create water where he needs it, he's not really limited to oceans, lakes, and rivers, etcetera... Can't do it as a Multipower because it's part of an Elemental Control... Any other suggestions, as well...?
  25. Re: SPD, but only for (x)? I just had a notion... What about a x3 Autofire as a Naked Advantage, with the Extra Time Limitation at Extra Segment (-1/2)...? Then, to smooth things out, the first shot has no delay, the second occurs at the end of the next segment, and the third shot at the end of the segment after that...? If you abort to a defensive action, you lose the extra shots as per the Extra Time Limitation...
