  1. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Did you know I like dancing Irish Jigs while drinking Russian Rum and wearing Scottish Kilts? A: Are you sure that's supposed to go there?
  2. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What was the official NASA response when queried about a possible Lunar colony being established? A: When the going gets rough, the ruff goes to the dogs.
  3. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What's the first letter in this label, Y Jelly? A: Welcome to the Non-Sequiter Club. We may be different, but we like Pizza.
  4. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What's the name of that new sitcom starring an Elder God? A: No silly, it's Puce flavored, not Puce colored.
  5. Re: PBEM Soundtrack I was actually thinking along these lines as well. With the diversity of campaigns already available, it'd be hard to pick out a suite of music able to cover them all. However each campaign having a 'theme song' would make much more sense. Naturally some of the campaigns would have similar tones... As for actual suggestions? I keep flashing to the soundtracks for Superman for the Global Guardians and Batman for Shades of Gray.
  6. Re: My House Rules. Comments Welcome Not to continue to beat on this subject any more, but Worldmaker did edit his earlier post to show he meant that comment in jest only. Regardless, I think the COM being artifically capped is a good idea. Despite what seems to be implied, not all super-heroes have COM stats of 20+. In fact, I'd say most superheroes don't go above a 14 or so, considering that 10 is a baseline. They may be more physically fit yes, but not more beautiful (Unless you're looking at movie versions, in which case the lowest COM was 18 ).
  7. Re: First game question The answer really comes down to what you're comfortable handling. I know when i ran my first game I used a group of nameless agents that the players could blow through. The first real fight with super beings was a smallish group of villians, not a 1 for 1 match. I've gotten better about keeping track of the important information, but it's hard when you're starting out. Of course the above is presupposing you're a beginner GM. if you're experienced and feel confident at controlling multiple NPC's easily, feel free.
  8. I'm trying to find a site that has old base maps with a hex background. Ideally I can also find copies of the Zodiac Base and the Protector's base as well. I've got both the books, but I need to be able to modify the layouts a little if need be, and I don't have access to a scanner (No, not even a Kinko's) so just scanning the above two bases in isn't feasible right now. Anyone able to help?
  9. Hmmmm, I wound up being Kurt Wagner. Tho I'll admit the question about powers I was torn between Flight and Teleportation. I too would have loved to have seen super-speed...
  10. Mr. Grayson is not considered a better combatant than a fair majority of martial artists in DC Comic-dom. However, he is easily one of the most talented natural athletes in the DC-verse. In the Robin zero hour comic, it was commented by Tim Drake that his predecessor does things most humans have a hard time thinking of, and makes it look easy to boot. In terms of Leadership, He is a decent leader, I wouldn't say he's the most tactical mind out there, but people are more willing to respond to him both due to his relationship with Bats (He served as Robin how long? SOMEthing had to have rubbed off), and because he's typically a fairly approachable fellow (Although late Titans and now Outsiders this is changing). And please note that all these comments come from a very hard-core Titans fan, so I'm not trying to knock someone I dislike, just looking at it from perspective.
  11. Re: Re: Re: i'm in love with Cateran So... Does that mean that 'She's Mighty mighty!'?
  12. On a time travel story to the wild wild west, and facing the prospect that the team may never return to their proper time, the Angel (real angel, wings and all) mutters "But I don't wanna be the harlot forever..."
  13. Hi there. Long time Titans comic fan here. Just thought I'd give my opinion. I know I know, it doesn't really matter, but it's still out there for everyone to see... Anyhow, my opinion of the cartoon is, while it's nice that they're doing it, and I'm glad people are enjoying it, it's not quite my cup of tea. I'll still watch it, oh yes, it's Titans, gotta watch it (Hmm, better check on that Psych Lim...). My main reasons for not being particularly thrilled with it are primarily that they don't seem like a very capable team. Just a bunch of teens, who happen to wear costumes, and just happen to have powers, and happen to be in the wrong spot at the right time. I just don't feel they're capable of being heroes some times. Now with all that said, I must admit I really like what they've done with Changeling, making him a vegetarian and such. I also like Raven's new personality, I just wish they'd work on defining her powers a bit better. Is she some sort of darkness/telekinetic? Anyhow, if I were to have to grade the cartoon, it'd get.. oh, a B-. Not a bad show, but not one of the greats that I think it could be.
  14. For all those world creators out there, how do you come up with names for cities? Do you try to just come up with something that sounds good, or do you come up with a generic 'non-real world' name (IE: Star City, Central City, Coast City, Gotham City, Metropolis, etc)? If you had to rename Detroit after the catastrophe, how would you go about doing it? Just idle curiosity on my part, I'd be interested in hearing the thought processes of other world creators.
  15. Cereal Killers was one of those games I wanted to get in on but couldn't because it was sold out by the time me and the GF went looking. If you're really good at getting Generics in, you might have 2 more players available (If I can convince her to play... Shouldn't be too hard)
  16. I will most definately be there, and so far the only event I'm in is a game for the Escape from the Late Late Late show, an excellent comedy game btw. Since I'll be taking my first-timer girlfriend to GenCon, I'm hoping I can keep her occupied for the entire four days. She's into gaming, but seems hesitant to join a game with people she doesn't know. Ah well, hopefully she'll change her mind.
  17. The Mage's name would be Felix Faust, who in classic Comic Continuity was a major foe of the JLA (Silver Age edition). He also served or worked with 3 demons, whose names escape me at the moment.
  18. Clarification Perhaps I should clarify. I'm thinking, from my perspective, that for the player to add targetting to his already existing enhanced hearing power, he should add the modifier to the existing enhanced hearing power, with one total cost. He pointed out that Kodiak, in the Millenium City book, bought enhanced senses and targetted sense (Don't recall the sense, smell I think?) as separate powers, with distinctly separate costs. The reason this is important is because I have allowed him to buy his enhanced hearing as part of an Elemental Control, not realizing that that wasn't kosher under 5th ed. rules. Since it's already done there's no point revoking it. Anyhow, if he has to add targetting to the existing sense, it costs more than if he can break them out into separate senses, since in the first case the EC cost break has already been taken into account. In the second case the targetted hearing gets a reduced cost, due to the EC cost break. Again I realize I can make a GM decision here, but I'm wondering how the official rules handle this situation (Should it modify the existing enhanced sense or be separate)?
  19. One of my players is looking to improve his hearing by spending xp. Specifically, he has +4 to his hearing perception rolls, and now wants to buy targetting for his hearing. It seems to me that they should be in the same power (not separated at all). However, the example of Kodiak in Millenium City seems to imply that they can be separated out, and should be. Now, I realize I can make a GM's fiat decision here, but I'm curious what the correct Official way to handle this would be.
  20. X-Members Here's a fairly complete list of members of the X-Men Proper, The New Mutants (and the team they formed, X-Force) and the New Mutants primary foes, the Hellions. In each case I tried to go in chronological order (roughly). The more recent members (Say from 1999 onward) I'm only peripherally aware of and thus have likely missed a few of them. X-Men Cyclops Jean Grey Angel Beast Iceman Mimic Havoc Polaris Storm Wolverine Sunfire Banshee Thunderbird Colossus Nightcrawler Shadowcat Rogue Dazzler Phoenix II Longshot Psylocke Forge Jubilee Gambit Bishop Revanche Joseph Maggot Cannonball Marrow Dr. Reyes New Mutants/X-Force Cannonball Sunspot Wolfsbane Psyche/Mirage/Moonstar Karma Magik Magma Cypher Warlock Bird-boy/Birdbrain Rusty Skids Artie Leech Rictor Boom-Boom/Boomer/Meltdown Thunderbird II/Warpath Shatterstar Feral Cable Domino Powerpax Siryn Hellions Thunderbird II/Warpath Empath Jetstream Tarot Catseye Roulette Bevatron Beef Firestar
  21. I'm just curious how all the other GM's out there would build this. I've got an item, say Thor's Hammer, that when first picked up transfers a suite of powers to the weilder. However, the more the weilder holds the hammer, the more powers he gets. Let's say that upon first receiving Thor's powers, the weilder only has Strength, Durability, Flight and some basic lightning blast abilities. However if the wielder continues to use the hammer, they gain the ability to sense weather patterns, and eventually control said weather patterns. Since this hammer is a pure OAF, and ANYbody can use it, the sole limitation is that the hammer has to be used for a length of time to unlock the more powerful abilities. The main reason I ask is because the hammer will wind up being a very important Plot Device for my story, with the main villian discovering the enhanced abilities that the minor villians (and hopefully the heroes) overlooked. So what's the best way to simulate the gaining of new powers based on length of time using an item, that isn't linked to spending XP (Because not everyone using the hammer will gain XP)?
  22. Thanks KA. The main reason I asked here, rather than doing the requisite Google search was the hopes that someone reading would have a store of artwork they could provide.
  23. For my next game, I would really like to present a piece of artwork to my players to cap off the cliffhanger ending I have in mind. However, the piece of art is fairly esoteric. What I'm wondering is if anyone could help me find, either drawn or photoraphed, a picture of a woman, preferably older, that is being used as a hostage. IE: Tied down to a chair, maybe gagged, or something similar. The cliffhanger involves the picture of a players Mother surfacing with a ransom note, so having the picture will only add to the shock value. Can anyone help me with this?
  24. Team Vibe The team vibe the Protectors of Milwaukee give off can best be summed up as Corporate Lackeys. They have their own PR dept., their own advertising agency, and they are at the beck and call of their sponsoring corporation.
