  1. Re: Unusual recurring themes Go Home = No Pay (If I went home, I wouldn't get paid) Plus I've already missed 2 days this pay period for other reasons.... that's a hit to my paycheck I'm not able to withstand at the moment.
  2. Re: Unusual recurring themes Blah, bad Eagle for posting while tired. I meant that the themes weren't developed to emulate the genre, specifically the victories being unknown to most in order to keep the status quo. I sure think that's what I meant. To be honest right now I'm so punch drunk on caffeine, fever-chills (I think I'm fighting off some illness) and sleep deprivation that I swear I'm seeing little faeries dance around my desk.... If going home meant I didn't get paid I'd be home in an instant curled up in bed. Sorry SS, didn't mean to confuse (or anyone else for that matter).
  3. In looking over the recaps one of my players writes up for every one of our FtF games, I noticed two themes that have developed in regards to the Champions game I GM. The first one is that my low level PC's (They're averaging about 295-310 currently) have met quite a few of the heavyweights in the Champions Universe. But they've done it in such a way that they've not had to fight said heavyweights (They met Dr. Destroyer back during WW2, Eurostar threatened the PC's to find out why they're being haunted by their dead members, Zodiac wound up being led by an old teammate, Foxbat sent a vastly reprogrammed and faulty Mechanon after them). The second theme, and one I find even more interesting, is that the biggest victories for the PC's are done in such a way that nobody outside of them know they exist. They've fixed the timestream (twice now) by travelling to the past. They defeated Zodiac by resetting the universe, etc etc. So do any GM's out there have unusual recurring themes in their games?
  4. Re: Who is your campaigns "Bad Guy they love to hate" I've only re-used four villains thus far, Occulon, Bulldozer, Blowtorch and Foxbat. Of those four, the member that has faced the most vitriol is Foxbat, followed by Bulldozer and his.... uhm... personality. Which of course almost guarantees they'll return, eventually.
  5. Re: Marvel Universe trivia Well, without access to devices (No Cosmic Cube, Infinity Gauntlet, Serpent Crown, Infinity Gems), the only ways I can think of to give the Red Skull powers on the scale you're talking about are to either: A) Have him become the recipient of the Power Cosmic. This is the power source that gives Captain Mar-vell and Silver Surfer their powers Have him recieve the Starbrand or C) Have a cosmic entity increase the Skull's powers to the level you want (The Beyonder, One of the Elders of the Universe, a Celestial, etc).
  6. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Feng Shui is a great game, based off a great CCG, 'Shadowfist'. I've always been a Monarch/Hand fan myself, although I'm coming to appreciate the new faction, the Purists.
  7. Re: The "real" Golden Age vs the "nostalgic" Golden Age Technically no, there is nothing preventing a non-colored from entering the colored car. However in this story, The white Mr. Terrific didn't even know that he was being sought out (until later), so he had no reason to go into the other car. Plus there's always the social stigma of being seen somewhere you're not supposed to be. So a White meandering into the colored's train car will be viewed with suspicion, unless it was some sort of authority figure (Train conductor, policeman, etc). So while there may have been no explicit rules disallowing the whites, there were implicit understood rules in place, enforced by socialization among ones peers.
  8. Re: Yet another update on the Champions miniature modding contest. I just want to know when I should take photos of my Ultrasonique Clix conversion. Of course I also need to finish working on my Scorpia Clix conversion as well.
  9. For the next Champions game I'll be tossing together, I'm planning on having the PC's meet early models of the Minutemen (Sentinels of X-Men fame) series of Robots. My problem is that I don't have any good figures I can use to represent them on the battlefield. So, any suggestions? I've done some searches, ideally I'm looking for a figure that will look to be 18' or so tall compared to the 6' of the PC (28mm) figures. Of course I'm so bad at math I don't know what scale I'm looking for. Help?

  11. Re: This week on "Champions"... Protectors sun 12:00 - The team must confront two new villains sporting the missing museum weapons who are attacking the local Police Station. Who are they, and what significance do they have for Red Bear? And can Celteen get those weapons back before she loses her job at the museum?
  12. Re: Grovelling Apoligies to Death Tribble and some enquiries The Hot Lesbian Gamer chicks is a reference to an occurance on the NGD boards. However let me caution you now, treading into the NGD is like wading into a radioactive zone without a Hazmat suit on. If you do decide to go there, make sure you have your requisite jacket (with sleeves that let you hug yourself) set aside, and under all conditions, avoid contact with Mightybec. Especially if you make any sounds that are in any way similar to any four legged animal.
  13. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Oh relax oh mighty eyed hairball. I'm sure the young'in didn't know you claimed to be a brit, either that or there was a vote passed and you're no longer allowed to be called European. I say welcome the Token Briton, and let him bask in the glory that is the fire-eyed snuggletoy Death Tribble. And as for tempting Storn, Storn's been real busy lately. Let's not get greedy and demand too much from him. He might just stop gracing us with copies of his work.
  14. Re: This week on "Champions"... Sure, I'll bite: Protectors sun 12:00 - The team finds the Champions busting government officials. Under orders from the President, do they confront their idols or obey their orders?
  15. Re: Looking for info, CNM/CU be gentle! Well, as I said, I'm not that familiar with C:NM. Unless that's another name for the Fuzion rules, in which case I do have the rule book but that's about it. I remember looking through the rules and trying to make sense of it (and failing miserably) but other than that I know nothing about the setting. Unfortunately, while I can describe the 5E setting, it's hard to compare and contrast without knowing both settings. I think, from a sales point of view, there's more source material for 5E than C:NM, but that's only because more books have been made for 5E.
  16. Re: Looking for info, CNM/CU be gentle! The names that he listed off are names that appear in the Current 5E Champions universe. As such they DO appear in C:NM but not in 5E. I believe that's what Lord Liaden was referring to. As for me, I'm not that familiar with C:NM so I can't really offer an opinion.
  17. Re: HELP: Of Thor and Loki It's funny, I'm in a similar bind. One of my PC's is the unknowing son of a god. He's thinking he's of Norse origin, but I'd really like to pull a fast one on him and make him the son of a god from another pantheon. What he doesn't realize yet is that he's about to be tapped to lead the other dieties into combat. Specifically, in the far past, a 'God war' is forming, with a group of aliens showing up and taking human hosts. The PC has to form the other disparate dieties together to fend off these would-be Gods. Before anyone asks, My players are also in another game based on Stargate SG-1. And yes, that is exactly where I got the idea. They were joking about doing a cross-over. So I decided to give them one. They just don't know it yet.
  18. I was searching through the archives and came across a thread talking about how the Champions suck at their current level. So I got curious, how would anyone increase the Champions to make them more of a super-star team? So here's a challenge, update the Champions. Say to 600-650 points each. Go ahead, I dares ya!
  19. Re: Clix mod challenge Yo Proditor, you need to drop me a PM. I still have those 'clix set aside for you m'man. Where do you want me to send them?
  20. Re: newbie first character creation help The updated concept sounds a lot like a standard power armor wearer, with the twist that the suit turns into a wheel chair in Secret ID. A Multiform is probably the best way to build this, as you mentioned. As the Owl Wife mentioned, keep in mind travel ability, SPD and defenses. If you're looking for some ideas, there are some websites out there that list off a whole lot of sample characters. Perhaps one of them will have a sample of Iron Man or Warmachine. The only problem is that they're very likely to be 4th edition, but that should only take a little bit of updating to bring into 5th edition.
  21. Re: Storage and transport of minis I've got 5 Warhammer 'suitcase' carrying devices, 1 army transport, about 15 extra Army Transport foam trays and one very large tackle box I picked up at the local sporting goods store. The Army Transport, Army Transport Foam Trays and Warhammer suitcases all hold miniatures from the old Clan War game (Based on AEG's Legend of the 5 Rings). I have 3 complete Naga armies, and decent sized Dragon and Shadowlands armies. The Tacklebox is what I use most these days, as it holds all the miniatures used for Champions. The slide out trays and whatnot have all been lined with a thin foam like substance that I cut to size and placed inside each pocket. But I'm running out of space and will likely start looking at co-opting my Army Transport for when I need to run to the next Champions game. If there's enough demand I'll snap a couple shots of my tackle box so everyone can get an idea of what I'm using.
  22. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I've spent the past four days sorting my disheveled comic collection, trying to instill some sense of order into my chaotic collection. In doing so I came across some of my old archived (and semi-sorted) comics. Curious, I found out that I actually own four comics older than me. I'm not sure where I got them, but I have them. Sadly one of my two oldest (Brave and the Bold, staring Flash and Manhunter from Mars) is in pretty poor condition. However, my other oldest comic (Aquaman, guest staring Aqualad and Mera) is in pretty damn good condition. This is even more unusual because, as I also discovered recently, I didnt take very good care of my comics through the early 80's (When I first started collecting, and was only about 10ish). I haven't counted my comics yet tho, but I'm sure that once the urge to sort my comics has passed, the urge to know just how many of the buggers I own will rear it's ugly little head.
  23. Re: Gimme a cool challenge... BTAS = Batman: The Animated Series, if I'm not mistaken. As for some concept ideas, while sorting through my comics collection, I came across a JLA Elseworlds 3-part mini-series called Act of God. Basic story idea is that something happens to make all biological powers cease, so only tech heros can continue. At the end, 4 formor superheros train with the Bat crew and form a group called the Phoenix Initiative. Wally West became a martial artist called Red Devil, and used a trident in combat. Arthur Curry became The Hand, with a cybernetic left hand with a bunch of tools. Linda Danvers became Liberty, and wielded a double mace (the 'scales of justice') and had a blindfold inspired mask. J'onn J'onzz became The Green Man, and relied on his goofy martian appearance and trick skull bombs, along with martial arts. You might be able to combine certain aspects of the four characters, such as a shock appearance with the Liberty motif and super toolkit of The Hand?
