  1. Re: All-New Iron Age Zoo Crew? The whole thing's a joke. It started as an April Fools joke in wizard. People, try to control your urges to rip on anything with the phrase Iron Age attached to it, um-kay, it's a satire.
  2. Re: Power Construction: Spreadable Plague I think Mind Control would be more economical and simulate the effect he's looking for more accurately. They aren't really changing into something, they're being affected and I think he wants them able to fight it with a mundane method rather than something exotic like power defense. So Mind Control based on Con if you want to avoid ego stuff. But i'd go with Ego and punish your heroes for not spending their points on something other than combat prowess.
  3. Re: Marvel's Best Martial Artists I've seen Danny Rand punch through Colossus as well.
  4. Re: Marvel's Best Martial Artists Hey, I wanna change Bronze Tiger to Spider-Man, k Enforcer?
  5. Re: Golden Age Day Jobs Contract Killer. Seriously, I'm stumped. I mean, most jobs existed then, right? Cept computer stuff. How about Dock Laborer? Captain Marvel did that when he lost his job at Whiz Radio. What about adventurer? Love to see that resume. "So for the last seven years, you've been working as an 'adventurer?'" "Yes, sir." "And that pays...?" "Action is my reward." "I'm just going to mark, 'unemployed' for now." "Whatever." How about Archeologist?
  6. Re: Power Construction: Spreadable Plague I don't have my books or anything (work) but off the top of my head Mind Control (only to berserk) uncontrolled , continuous, sticky (like fire, right?) linked with an aid to the stats you want to boost and a side effect or SFX beet red or visible effects. Probably want reduced end. To simulate the two phases thing, I'd go with limited power yadda yadda yadda -1. Now one of the smarter people will probably give you a much better answer, but thems my two cents.
  7. Re: The cranky thread Now that's cranky.
  8. Re: "24" Challenge Are you talking about Day 2 when he flew the bomb out into the desert? That was a single prop, commercial. I may have forgotten that myself, though . Edit: Boy, I sure did.
  9. Re: "24" Challenge Looks like we're about on the same page on Characteristics except for Con and Recovery and I think you may be right about it needing to be higher. I wouldn't put quite that high, but that's a matter of taste really. I didn't really give him reduced sleep because I figure he sleeps more than eight hours a week. Chalk it up to his endurance. I like this, SWIPE! The CTU agents who work with Jack are his friends and seem to have PC stamped on their head (excluding Kim who is the super DNPC) and it's established that most people don't like Jack and aren't willing to do him a favor because he's a loose cannon and turned on his own partners when he found out they were dirty. Therefore, a generic organization contact doesn't seem to reflect Jack's resource pool. That's why he has to use his Persuasion skill on Michelle and Chloe and Jamie and Tony to get what he wants. I don't think Jack has a license to kill, when he kills someone who isn't trying to kill him, he has to go through a lot of hastle to justify it and after each mission he has to debrief and explain himself. In second and third season, Palmer had his back so he got away with some stuff that his superiors would have put him in prison for. I don't think Jack has any backdoor access to CTU, he always has to enlist help when he needs to use their equipment without them knowing. Nina, Miguel, Chloe. I didn't really look too hard into talents, but I see we agree on a couple of things. One thing I probably would say is he has to have absolute time sense. He always knows exactly how much time he has left! Other talents, I may swipe. Lot of your knowledge skills I didn't get, probably swipe some. He has a lot more combat skills with you too, I'd probably use some more of those if I had Dark Champions (its on its way), others seem to make him too powerful, but I think you've said yourself you may have exceeded your campaign limits. I noticed you put Combat Aircraft in his TFs. I don't see how he would have learned that skill in Delta Force, has he ever demonstrated the ability? Pretty much the same, although I did give Kim useful skills as she is great bait and has a degree in computer programming which Jack lacks profenciecy in. I almost forgot to say Darn Fine write-up. Definitely be incorporating a lot of into my own!
  10. This is basically a lead operative in a CTU agency not featured on the show in an undetermined as of yet US city. She basically fills the Jack Bauer role of *** kicking and torturing. I need some help and advice/criticism will also be appreciated. 1. I don't know too much about Jeet Kun Do, I just sort of picked a discipline from memory, then I looked it up and saw it was Bruce Lee and figured that's cool. If anyone has better take on what a person with her background and disciplines' MA would look like, sound off. 2. Her military history is a complete work of fiction and I really don't have any experience with that sort of thing. Is it plausible? I'm aware that women aren't allowed to join the SEAL program, but that's referenced in her bio. Does it seem within the realm of possibility? I'm sort of going for some level of realism, but not too much. When Elaine was 18, she left Cawker City to attend college at the University of Kansas where she received a degree in Business Math and completed the NROTC program. She then accepted a commission from the Navy and began serving as an ensign in the Navy Supply Corps. She was heavily involved in Competitive Swimming and even trained for the Olympics. Her excellence in sports and her interest in Martial Arts (she had already been awarded a black belt in Jeet Kun Do) brought her to the attention of the Naval Secretary in 1996. The secretary was under pressure from a crusading chairperson of a military budget commission to institute full military integration. Admittedly, no one expected Nash to succeed and complete the program that had a %60 dropout rate, but she excelled and become one of the most highly decorated officers in her SEAL class as well as the only woman to date to serve as a SEAL. Nash’s life story was fictionalized in a big budget movie, although in order to protect her ability to operate, producers were denied permission to label it a true story. In 1998, Nash was tapped to join the elite SEAL Team Six, or DEVGRU (U.S. Navy Special Warfare Development Group) and served on several successful operations as team leader. She chose not to renlist once her commission was up as she felt disillusioned with the military that had treated her as little more than a publicity stunt. She spent two years working in the private sector as a security consultant before she was approached in 2001 and offered a position at CTU as a field investigator. Intrigued by the opportunity to work in a domestic setting, Nash accepted the position. Now she is one of CTU’s top operatives, getting results, neurtralizing threats, and kicking butt. Personality/Motivation: Nash is a patriot, however she feels that there are factions within the United States that have lost sight of what it means to be America. She joined the SEALs to help defend America against threats foreign and domestic, now she does the same at CTU. Nash is a workaholic and has trouble maintaining a relationship or even a social life outside the office. The last serious relationship she had was with her former partner, which resulted in their son Angus. Most people consider Nash unapproachable and cold, but she’s actually very passionate about her work and hobbies. The most important person in Nash’s life is her son, Angus. Angus lives with his father, Matthew Sweet, and it sometimes seems to Nash that they’re on another planet, but really they’re barely twenty miles away. CTU business seems to always interrupt anytime Nash gets a second to see Angus, but she always makes it up to him. She hopes when he’s older, he’ll understand why his mommy has to leave so often. Often the first to enter dangerous situations, she doesn’t feel comfortable sending men under her command into situations she wouldn’t go herself. To a lesser degree, she has issues with micro-managing situations and often refuses to delegate a task unless she feels someone else is better suited. Quote: “This isn’t right, these guys are too stupid to come up with this on their own. Look, I’m gonna need a gallon of gasoline and a meat cleaver.†Powers/Tactics: Nash is a highly trained, special forces veteran, and a accomplished practitioner of Jeet Kun Do. She has a brilliantly analytical mind and has developed keen powers of observation. In short, she’s exactly the sort of person CTU wants in the field. She’s also a talented interrogator and is well versed in all the latest questioning techniques. Nash understands in most situations, the best defense is a good offense and she operates accordingly. She’s also well versed in small unit tactics and enjoys taking the lead on raids and assaults. In combat she prefers to work the enemy(s) flank and use stealth as long as possible. When the time for a direct assault arises, she uses her superior dexterity and speed to advance quickly, firing rapidly as she closes the distance. Once she’s in hand to hand, she neutralizes opponents with calculated strikes to vulnerable areas and secures them for later torture…er, questioning. Campaign Use: To Nash, you’re either part of the solution or you’re in her damn way. Most PCs will find her a valuable resource, but the ones who find themselves in opposition of Nash’s objectives will soon regret it. She makes an excellent foil to PCs operating outside the law as a competent and credible threat who isn’t intimidated by much, let alone some nancy-boy in tights. Nash is a field operative and will turn up at any suspected terrorist attack. Players may also encounter her following up leads that at first glance appear unrelated to any terrorist groups, but in fact are deeply entwined in some sinister plot. Nash has a tendency to avert most crises in exactly 24 hours. If you’re working with Nash, she’ll assume command in any situation within her jurisdiction. Her interpretation of her jurisdiction is fairly broad. Appearance: Nash is athletic, tall, and imposing. She isn’t bad looking either. She tends to dress in flattering designer suits or a flak jacket. She has dark hair, a tanned complexion, and brown eyes. Her hair is cut short and styled well. Most guys at CTU will gladly flirt with her until they see her question a suspect.
  11. Re: Marvel's Best Martial Artists 1) Shang Chi 2) Captain America 3) Daredevil 4) Bronze Tiger 5) Elektra 6) Wolverine 7) Black Panther 8) Nighthawk 9) Crossbones 10) Echo
  12. Re: Build me a Satellite The book is currently on its way, so I'll have a better idea of what I'm trying to do soon.
  13. Re: CHAR: Green Lantern 1) I'd go computer possibly with AI 2) VPP With Examples 3) Kyle's ring doesn't have a time limit, but it does run out and needs to be recharged, so maybe a big End reserve with a limited recovery. It also carries a very small reserve charge that will not run out, so maybe another END reserve with a small recovery. Don't know about anyone else, the rules have changed rather drastically since Rebirth
  14. Re: Question for the gun-bunnies The fictional one. Before that he was Delta Force and before that he was LAPD SWAT. He's also done work for the CIA.
  15. Re: Question for the gun-bunnies Hey Gun Bunnies, I have some questions too, how would you stat out a Accuracy International custom sniper rifle like the one Jack Bauer uses on Day 4? (Yes I am on total 24 kick, gearing up for Day 5) Or his Heckler & Koch USP Compact? I just use the closest thing I can find in the 5th and make a little better assuming that the guns have cooler names because they are indeed cooler guns. However, the USP Compact is a little weird and I'm not sure if I should use 9mm as a base or a 357.
  16. Re: Build me a Satellite Yah, I'm buying that book on Friday.
  17. Does anyone have any sweet builds for orbital satellite telemetry? I think that's the right term for those pictures from space used to track people. Or perhaps a link to a past thread on it? Or you could tell me which book would contain the info? OR all of the above? Also, liked to see how some other people build GPS.
  18. From http://www.notrly.com/jackbauer/ 1. After the Fall, Jack Bauer quipped "Better to reign in CTU than serve in division." His wit appreciated, Bauer received the honor of murdering Chapelle as a reward. 2. God created the universe in 6 days. That’s 5 days 23 hours and 59 minutes longer than it took Jack Bauer to create God. 3. To prove a point, Jack Bauer lit Schindler’s actual list on fire. 4. The Drill Sergeant speech in "Full Metal Jacket," was actually based on Jack Bauer's first communion poetry reading. 5. Hector Salazar was the only person to survive (temporarily) after having received one of Jack's false "I give you my word" assurances. However, his shock when Bauer arrested Ramon disfigured his face so that he looks like he's always smelling poop. 6. Jack Bauer can sneeze with his eyes open. 7. Jack Bauer doesn't stop at stop signs. 8. When Russell Crowe threw a phone at that guy, Jack Bauer was on the other line. 9. Jack Bauer would have gotten the ring to Mordor in 24 hours. 10. Jack Bauer's favorite color is severe terror alert red. His second favorite color is violet, but just because it sounds like violent. 11. While being ‘put under’ in the hospital, Jack Bauer can count backwards from 100 every time. This annoys the doctors. 12. Jack Bauer knows what you did last summer. 13. What Jack Bauer whispered into Nina Myers' ear is so badass, your head would explode upon hearing or reading it. Nina merely went insane because it was whispered to her. 14. If you wake up in the morning, it's because Jack Bauer spared your life. 15. The Sistine Chapel was the result of Jack Bauer and Chuck Norris having a food fight. 16. Upon hearing that he was played by Kiefer Sutherland, Jack Bauer killed Sutherland. Jack Bauer gets played by no man. 17. Jack Bauer was never addicted to heroin. Heroin was addicted to Jack Bauer. 18. Jack Bauer killed 93 people in just 4 days time. Wait, that is a real fact. 19. If Jack Bauer was in a room with Hitler, Stalin, and Nina Meyers, and he had a gun with 2 bullets, he'd shoot Nina twice. 20. Jack Bauer has no problem following orders, unless you tell him to do something he doesn't want to. 21. Instead of buzzing, Jack Bauer's alarm clock screams out "THERE ISN'T ANYMORE TIME!" 22. If you get 7 stars on your wanted level on Grand Theft Auto, Jack Bauer comes after you. You don't want to get 7 stars. 23. Jack Bauer does not sleep. The only rest he needs is what he gets when he's knocked out or temporarily killed. 24. It is Jack Bauer who sees you when you're sleeping, and it is Jack Bauer who knows when you're awake. "Santa Claus" is just a stupid codename, and Jack Bauer killed the guy who assigned it to him. 25. Don’t tell Bill Paxton, but Jack Bauer actually has the Heart of the Ocean. 26. Jack Bauer once forgot where he put his keys. He then spent the next half-hour torturing himself until he gave up the location of the keys. 27. 1.6 billion Chinese are angry with Jack Bauer. Sounds like a fair fight. 28. Jack Bauer can kill people with his mind, he just enjoys shooting them instead. 29. When Jack Bauer realized he had the same initials as James Bond and Jason Bourne, he killed both of those punks using a water pistol. 30. Jack Bauer doesn't miss. If he didn't hit you it's because he was shooting at another terrorist twelve miles away.
  19. Re: "24" Challenge Well, the big tip off that he's not a computer guy was when Jamie had to explain to him how to use his scanner in his car. But other than not being too big on PCs, he knows a lot about what to use high tech stuff for, how to operate sensing equipment and stuff like that. But Tony has a degree in computer science and Nina had some training that isn't, as yet and probably never will be revealed. She was an analyst, so it's a safe bet she has a background in programming. There's no canon source stating Jack is a programmer and he's (to the best of my memory) never done anything to demonstrate any skill. I'll be watching the first season and if I don't see anything, I'll move on to the second. Dang, they're expensive though. I'll keep y'all posted. Edit:You know, I don't think I explicitly stated that most high tech things like satellite tracking he tells other people to set up for him. BTW, Day 4 isn't on sale anymore and has claimed its place as the most expensive set at $60 big ones. Here's a question: What have you seen CTU agents pull out of that nifty compartment in their SUVs? I can remember sniper rifles, assault rifles, flak jackets and ammo. I'd assume they have at least flash/bangs if not frags. A shotgun perhaps? Anybody remember anything else?
  20. Re: "24" Challenge After watching the first few episodes of Day 1 I think I can say with confidence that Jack Bauer's only advanced computer skill is his ability to identify attractive women who know more than him and to convince them to help him with his loose cannon activities. I've yet to see him do anything himself on a computer that was more complicated than pushing enter. I'm being literal, he had Nina set up a transfer of incriminating evidence to send to Division then threatened to hit enter to extort cooperation from a difficult superior.
  21. Re: CHAR: Aquaman You guys know I totally ripped that off from a stand-up guy on Dr. Katz, right? Just want to give credit where it's due. However, please feel free to rep me for the appropriate context.
  22. Re: "24" Challenge I like to imagine whenver Curtis gets that angry look on his face he's thinking "I will break your neck." Just like you know Jack is saying "**** it, crazy time." in his head when he gets that far away look, replaced by determination right before he does something violent. His character profile from the website and the companion book fox released. It's verified as canon by the creators of the show. Besides, did you really think Tony was just a desk jockey. I mean, come on! He's the only character so far that is a balanced mix of ***-kickery and tech savvy. Given the nature of the premise (One day) it's hard to really glean any background information from the show. Sure, I can safely estimate Chloe's CHAR and skills, but I'd like to continue my theme of grouping skills by the organization/training from which they were acquired. I'll look around online some more and I'll make you a Chloe tonight. Heavy on the invention.
  23. Re: "24" Challenge Unfortunately, I can't find a source for Chloe's background and training. Maybe 24 the Game will answer some of those questions. I've made a few guesses about some of the others. Such as I imagine Nina as a former Israeli Operative gone rogue and also imagine that Jack was based in the Middle East and North Africa respectively in his time with the CIA. I also need to add Spanish to his character sheet, I forgot he spent a long time in Mexico with the Salazars and he doesn't strike me as the type to go into a country on a mission without learning the language. Need some AK to represent that as well.
