  1. Re: The cranky thread Is it cranky when you resort to yelling at people with capital letters? Yeah, thought so...
  2. Re: The cranky thread I left mine, for many reasons, this among them. I don't recommend following my course of action. But, I'm so damn happy I feel pretty guilty about it. So Damn Happy - Louden Wainwright III The sad thing is I'm so damn happy Who'd blame her if she were to slap me The sun should not shine when there's rain I should be in a lot more pain At least I should feel slightly crappy But the sad thing is I'm so damn happy And the worst thing is it's so much better That admission would upset her But it's true and it's beyond belief What I feel is sheer relief I may regret the day I met her And the worst thing is it's so much better It's comic that it's all so tragic It's that hum-drum novel old black magic Let's have a laugh after we cry Let's hope we live before we die The silly clown's red nose is runny And it's tragic that it's all so funny It's crucial that it doesn't matter Vows of love are idle chatter To feel this good has to be bad I'm so damn happy that it's sad Dear listener would you like to slap me And the sad thing is I'm so damn happy Yes the sad thing is I'm so damn happy
  3. Re: A Thread for Random Musings How ironic to find Mr. T on a rerun...
  4. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Jeanne? OK, why not. We'll leave a light on for her in case it's late when she shows up. Wouldn't want the poor hurricane to get lost and miss Florida or anything...
  5. Re: A Thread for Random Mooings Low, and behold!
  6. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Killing Time, by Caleb Carr. Some interesting insights trapped in a truly boring tale with a lousy out at the end. If I'd paid more than a dollar for it I'd be angry. I loved The Alienist, and as such this is a terrible disappointment.
  7. Re: Answers & Questions (damn! must post faster!)
  8. Re: Answers & Questions Q. What was the name of the final dance number from "Springtime for Hitler?" A. Roy Cobb Salad.
  9. Re: Musings on Random Musings FWIW, youdaman, Ben.
  10. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I'm on someone's ignore list, and it makes me so damn happy for some strange reason...
  11. Re: Creepy Pics. Where can I get one?
  12. Re: The cranky thread Your damn right I'm cranky.
  13. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Beware of old girlfriends. Learning of a faked O, even a ten year old one, is demoralizing to say the least.
  14. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Oh yeah. Finding the boundaries of that trust is really half the fun. Be safe out there kids.
  15. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I like the whole idea of the GL corps. Does that count?
  16. Re: A Thread for Random Musings The funny thing about psychosomatic conditions is that knowing they are psychosomatic does nothing to mitigate them.
  17. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I have descended to genuine personal attack. I am not proud. But it was fun.
  18. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Your avatars keep getting better and better, Rachel. Yowza!
  19. Re: A Thread for Random Musings If eneryone just gives him some rep will he shut up about it already? I hate to see someone suffer so much for so little.
  20. Re: A Thread for Random Musings crapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrap A series of bad decisions tends to compound into one bad situation. I have one of two bad situations, neither of which are horrible just yet. Estimated duration - 5 hours to "so long as you both shall live"... DON'T ASK. I'm using this the way Midas's barber used a hole in the Earth. Because, you know, that worked so well for him.
  21. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Our IT person sent us out a warning today about the sector zero virus. According to our good friends at snopes (estimated check time - 45 seconds) this hoax has been circulating since 2000 or so. Credulity is an entertaining foible.
  22. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER 3, maybe. She was a devotee of the "lay there and take it" school of romance. I had very little idea what I was doing. She knew a lot more than I. Later, I thought "I can do better on my own." Thankfully, she was an anomoly.
  23. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I keep a close watch on this heart of mine I keep my eyes wide open all the time I keep the ends out for the tie that binds Because you're mine, I walk the line I find it very, very easy to be true I find myself alone when each day is through Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you Because you're mine, I walk the line As sure as night is dark and day is light I keep you on my mind both day and night And happiness I've known proves that it's right Because you're mine, I walk the line You've got a way to keep me on your side You give me cause for love that I can't hide For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide Because you're mine, I walk the line I keep a close watch on this heart of mine I keep my eyes wide open all the time I keep the ends out for the tie that binds Because you're mine, I walk the line If you look, the man in black doth protest too much. I understand his predicament.
  24. Re: New Character "Strong Guy" Templar - a very moral brick. Priest by day, hero by night. Since I'm not a Catholic, not even a bad one, this is a challenge for me, but I wanted someone who adhered to a strict code of conduct. He's a brick, and a deeply conscientous hero. The trick, I think, is to play it straight. The challenge of course, for any hero or priest, is that we live and play in very morally ambiguous worlds. It's a fun challenge. If you are doing the Lord's work, and you need to "borrow" a car for some reason, is it really stealing? Probably so. Is it worse to steal than to allow the bad guy to get away with the kidnpped girl?
