  1. Re: Musings on Random Musings in my experience, not all things that look cute are actually cute. Some just like to look cute and unassuming. Lowers one's defenses.
  2. Re: Musings on Random Musings I have a law degree and I'm currently remodeling a house to money. Top that.
  3. Re: who's missing from this team Shouldn't one of them be a Royal of some sort? I think you are also missing the reprobate. The modern superhero team needs someone with a nasty reputation who spits, smokes, calls people "bub" and makes the anal retentive team leader antsy. I suggest Jack. Mysterious background, super-agile martial artist, spits fire, super leaps, carries an assortment of genuinely wicked knives, has Rasputin-like Presence. Perhaps make him the royal.
  4. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? I want to take his eyes out Just for looking at you Yes I do I want to take his hands off Just for touching you Yes I do And I want to rip his heart out Just for hurting you And I want to break his mind down Yes I do And I want to make him Regret life since the day he met you Yes I do And I want to make him Take back all that he took from you Yes I do And I want to rip his heart out Just for hurting you And I want to break his mind down Yes I do Nickelback. Feelin' vengeful and angry.
  5. Re: Earthquake Abilities I would suggest tunneling as a good form of locomotion - cracking the earth around you to do your bidding. Back in the BBB, a guy named Montana had an area effect EB linked to an area effect entangle - the earth would shake briefly, and then explode in huge gouts of mud, dirt, and rocks.
  6. Re: What do you think... Blame Cancer for the thread necromancy. What happened?
  7. Re: The Munchkin Build Contest I was working for quite some time on a guy with snow powers. His avalanche entangle attack follows. Entangle, 1d6, Area Effect, Cone (double area), 0 END, Personal Immunity, 10 shot autofire. Entangle has no DEF, Only in Hero ID. 45 Active Points, 17 Real Points, Fixed Slot. 2 Points total outlay (part of a Snow Powers ECG) The upshot? 10 shots of an area effect entangle is a helluvalotta snow. 2 meters deep per shot, in a cone 10" on a side. At point blank range, the target is essentially unmissable, regardless of how much autofire creep there is. The final entangle has a 0 Def and 10 Body. Being buried under 60 feet of snow will do that.
  8. Re: Pics for the Post Apocalypse/Dark Future Apres le Deluge Hero, anyone? The rest of that sight is loaded with pics that are the perfect setting for anything horrible. Horrific. Horrifying. Hoary. Etc. EDIT: MAN that stuff is creepy as hell!
  9. Re: Old Soldier. I think Marine Recon is worth mentioning. They go in first - before the Marines go in. Scouts and snipers. linkage
  10. Re: Old Soldier. find weakness, analyze, and tactics. He's going to have to be either a thinker or an atropine junkie (or both) to keep up in a super world. (I've been playing with just such an idea myself, but with a Templar knight. It's a LOT of backstory, though, isn't it?) As an aside, consider DNPCs: his peers are all in there mid to late sixties now.
  11. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Well, we've finally gone and done it. Ameliana's ex has bought a race car - I'm signed on as mechanic (I admit its an unconventional situation - the game isn't worth playing by the rules, so we changed them). Linux coders, shade tree mechanics, and stock car fans collide at http://www.tuxracing.com more to come.
  12. Re: Musings on Random Musings I think it's closely analogous to the old "Totally unfamiliar with modern earth culture" Phys. Lim.
  13. Re: Musings on Random Musings Instead, he took a 5 point Phys. Lim.
  14. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Morning Edition
  15. Re: Erg! How to describe powers? Wherther Units or the Exley Scale or whatever sounds a HELL of a lot easier than trying to calculate the Tesla of energy at Magneto's disposal, and what that means to any given character.
  16. "Another unconscious criminal, bound in a red bolas ... It must be - The Chrimson Gaucho!" What I mean is this - there are some powers that are forensicly quite obvious. There's just no mistaking a batarang. On the other hand, Something smashed by the Hulk is just plain smashed, just as surely as if any other strong guy had smashed it. Are such obvious power special effects a Distinctive Feature, since they identify the character and can be concealed (with some effort, as not using the power can be a challenge)? A Social Limitation, since it's effectively similar to a public ID? It must be something.
  17. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge, she studied sculpture at Saint Martin's College, that's where I, caught her eye. She told me that her Dad was loaded, I said "In that case I'll have a rum and coca-cola." She said "Fine." and in thirty seconds time she said, "I want to live like common people, I want to do whatever common people do, I want to sleep with common people, I want to sleep with common people, like you." Well what else could I do - I said "I'll see what I can do." I took her to a supermarket, I don't know why but I had to start it somewhere, so it started there. I said pretend you've got no money, she just laughed and said, "Oh you're so funny." I said "yeah? Well I can't see anyone else smiling in here. Are you sure you want to live like common people, you want to see whatever common people see, you want to sleep with common people, you want to sleep with common people, like me." But she didn't understand, she just smiled and held my hand. Rent a flat above a shop, cut your hair and get a job. Smoke some fags and play some pool, pretend you never went to school. But still you'll never get it right, cos when you're laid in bed at night, watching roaches climb the wall, if you call your Dad he could stop it all. You'll never live like common people, you'll never do what common people do, you'll never fail like common people, you'll never watch your life slide out of view, and dance and drink and screw, because there's nothing else to do. Sing along with the common people, sing along and it might just get you through, laugh along with the common people, laugh along even though they're laughing at you, and the stupid things that you do. Because you think that poor is cool. I want to live with common people, I want to live with common people etc... -Bill Shatner, covering Pulp, Common People.
  18. Re: Musings on Random Musings Ditto. I'm certainly missing many pieces of the puzzle, but I can't tell if it's a broom, a snake, or four large trees. possibilities: 1) George is holding out on us and we're missing some very important facts. 2) She is holding out on George and he is missing some very important facts. 3) She is missing some very important facts. - a) Due to mental health problems which need immediate professional attention. - Due to emotional maturity problems which need her immediate attention.
  19. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Some salt, some lime, and one spare shot-socket if you'd care to join me...
  20. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread I gotta job! Not a great job, not a long term job, not a high paying job, but I gotta frickin' job! Yippee! I'll celebrate with tequila at Oddhat's place...
  21. Re: Musings on Random Musings WTF? No, really... That sucks. That REALLY sucks. "Irreconcilable Differences" sounds like lawyer talk. Has one been in touch with you yet? Have you two ever done any couples couseling or anything? She didn't mention this to your older son? I've walked a mile in those shoes, and you see a lot more from that vantage point. On the one hand, he shouldn't be in the middle of this mess, but on the other he already is. Pump him for info. He's your kid, he's probably about as smart as you. What the hell happened? You have my deepest sympathies. I'd be out of my mind in your shoes.
