  1. Re: Need help with character build using multiform It was my assumption that the more powerful forms were built on gradually more and more points. That's why I suggested nesting multiforms.
  2. Re: Need help with character build using multiform I would build the most expensive form first, and build Multiform only for the second-most expensive. I would put Limited Power: Power triggers every post-segment 12 (or whatever). Make this a -2 lim since it's basically the same as No Concious Control, but possibly more severe. Then the next-most, with Multiform with the same lim, but make a larger timeframe (say, a couple minutes, whatever). This lim should be smaller due to the longer duration. Maybe a -1.5. Also give this secondary form a strict Accidental Change to the top form as a disadvantage. I would value this as a flat 5 point disad, since this is the only way he can "evolve", and it's beneficial for him to evolve in this way almost all of the time. The reason I simulate this as a disad is since the Multiform power technically does not belong to the character changing, and he is not in control of the change. You can "step down" in this manner to the base form, which is a Multiform of the second-least-powerful form. If you wanted to be very clever, the Real Point value of each character incarnation could be worth the same number of points. That is, active points/lims.
  3. Re: Can't see me! What's that lim worth, you think? Only versus electronics and sensors? Think that's a -1? More? It's probably no less than a -3/4 lim, but probably more- since most of your enemies will have "natural" senses.
  4. Re: Pirates versus Superheroes This is the worst trainwreck I've ever caused! And I drive trains for a living!!!
  5. Re: Pirates versus Superheroes What if I gave the pirates boats and rigging made out of Questionite, and merely painted to look like wood and hemp? The cannon would be real cannon though.
  6. Re: Pirates versus Superheroes Props Hermit! That's it! Make the superheroes into pirates too! Super-Pirate ought to be able to hold his own against five, maybe six boatloads of reglular priates. Man, this is gonna be an awful game... and awful ENTERTAINING game, that is!
  7. On Bizarro World, are people of opposite personality only (like I say), or opposite everything (like my wife says)? Yes, this is what I sit around and do with my hot wife all day.
  8. Re: You Can't Hurt Me, I'm Entangled! Well, since the SFX is that the entangle stops some damage without being damaged, could you buy armor UAA and link it to your Entangle? Then nobody need spend endurance beyond the entangle to keep a force field going, or what have you. It has the added benefit of needing no special modifier and therefore being book-legal (as long as your GM allows UAA). You may also wish to buy Flash Def, Mental Def and Power Def built in the same way in order to REALLY seal the target off. You're getting into a high real point total here with this construction, but it's a pretty hefty effect, too.
  9. Re: DCV to Weapons I see no problem with this construct, although I don't think it's technically book-legal, since you can't put skills into a framework. Common sense holds that this is a perfectly acceptable place to break the rules. don't know enough about HD to tell you how to convince the program of our logic, though.
  10. Re: Supervillain Motivation Made Simple Oh, I thought you were listing off the names of Spinal Tap albums, my bad.
  11. Re: Pirates versus Superheroes I think you all are making the wrong assumption: I think the pirates are too powerful. Any ideas as to how superheroes could possibly stand up to pirates would be welcomed.
  12. Re: Package Deal Request Well, although they have no money, they can put their hands on what resources they need to face threats to the church, and can get around and do what they need to do pretty well. They can also call upon the laity and their superiors when the need arises. They are disciplined, orderly, and many of them are great orators, writers, and teachers. .... but nope. I got nothin.

    Force Golem

Re: Force Golem Seems to be a straight-up Automaton, probably with all the automaton powers, life support, and whatever else you think the force golem should have. If you want it to be smart, put an AI in it.
  14. Re: You Can't Hurt Me, I'm Entangled! I would put it in a multipower with an XDM if it hinders interaction with the real world- one slot (the entangle) with the advantage Transparent to external attacks and prevents (say) 50% of damage to target (+3/4); the other for the straight XDM with the limitation "Effect ends when target does (X) body to pocket dimension" (-0) or (-1/4), which keeps the person from interacting with the rest of the world for a time.
  15. Re: Limits on Killing attacks? Right on, Blue. Both in the making of my own characters and in the games I judge (ol MSH RPG term there), I limit each character to one power of 80 active points, and everything else should be around 60 or below. My players know I'm not going to throw something at them that they can't take down, now that has attacks that greatly exceed their defenses without some mitigating factor. sually, a tight PC will use that 80 active-point power on something other than a killing attack- a power which I discourage in general anyway.

  17. Re: Applying shapeshift in game Would a power that "only works on ham sandwiches" work against a character Shapeshifted into a ham sandwich?
  18. Can an automaton and its computer brain be housed in seperate bodies? If so, do they need Duplication or can a simple mind link do? Or do they need a mind link? My specific examle is the Wizard's antigravity disk weapons, and his glove-mounted control device. Building the disks themselves is a good place to use automatons-as-followers, since they can act autonomously if not intelligently). But the control mechanism is stumping me. Any ideas?
  19. Despite being a self-proclaimed know-it-all, and a huge Daredevil comic book fan (disliked the movie I gotta say), I have no idea what superpowers Typhoid Mary has. Anyone got a clue for me? And if there's a difference, I prefer the comic version to the movie version. ty in advance
  20. Re: New Anime character help Sight Flash no range (eye poke) hearing flash (yelling in your ear), combat luck, extra running, perhaps Universal Translator for the princess only (whispering in her ear), burrowing, Clinging?
  21. I'm imagining a game where the "heroes" are pirates, who pillage steal and generally act very badly; and the enemies are some sort of superheroes who intend to bring the pirates to justice. I can clearly see some specific mental images, some perfect still shots from the movie of the game so to speak, but I haven't the foggiest idea how superheroes could fight pirates and make it a fair fight. Help?
  22. Re: Ultimate Thief/Scout What do you call those twirly sticks Ninjas are always using? I lke those twirly sticks. When ninjas attack, how come they always attack one-by-one? They always seem to get beaten that way.
  23. Re: Cobra!! This was a great movie/miniseries (I forgett now), on par with really good anime you can see now. Don't make it a really bad game! If you mine source material so greatly as to nearly copy it, it's very very hard to cope with inventive players. As soon as one of your guys throws a monkey wrench into the works, you will be far off-course; any attempt you make to bring it back to the "correct" course will likely seem heavy-handed. Players don't like it if you don't give them options. n the other hand, if you and your players decide to run it as an "historical" simulation, and you all know how it's supposed to end, then there's nothing wrong with that. Also, if you have a good idea about how your players may be able to manipulate events, then you can better plan out your counter-moves. ut my main advice is: you'll probably (all of yall) end up disappointed. Although... Viper... I mean Cobra seems like a good fit. And there's no reason why GI Joe can't have a superhuman unit or two.
