  1. Heroes! How do you do this combat manoeuvre: you make a full move, tackle a target, you both fall to ground, and now you are grabbing the target. You can make this manoeuvre with UMA, but anyone should be able to do it without spending points. Does anyone allow Move Through + Grab just as Grab By is Move By + Grab? Cheers
  2. Re: 3 Names required - Help! Assault! For the boomerang character: 1: Hookshot 2: name using a hunter bird (hawk, falcon, owl, etc.), imagining a boomerang being like one. Cheers!
  3. Re: sitting Heroes! Thank you for the help. Cheers!
  4. Heroes! Should encumbrance affect OCV? Cheers!
  5. Heroes! What Combat Modifiers do you use for a target who is sitting? Cheers!
  6. Re: Japanese Language/Name question Nexus! If you want good and bad versions of the same person, like Jekyll and Hyde, or Mario and Wario, it’s common in fiction to use darkness, black, or other words that have a dark sound, even foreign words. Yami No Ryuu (dark Ryuu) Ankoku Ryuu (the black darkness Ryuu) Daaku Ryuu (dark Ryuu) If the bad Ryuu is a monster in disguise, or if Ryuu turned into a monster, it might use the monster name. Mamono Ryuu (monster Ryuu) Kyuuketuki Ryuu (vampire Ryuu) Cheers
  7. Re: Paging Dr. Oddhat, Dr. Foxx!, Dr. Oddhat! Japanese translation. Enforcer84! Rumble Roses is made by a different company, but Wrestle Angels Survivor does have many predecessors, all with Wrestle Angels in the title. (I made a mistake, the title is Wrestle Angels, not Wrestling Angels) By the way, it was only after seeing your character write up that I realised Ryuuko alone sounds like a personal name rather than a nickname or hero name. Ryuuko is still ok, but Ryuu No Ko would sound more like a title, or put another word in front of it like Thunder Ryuuko, Dengeki Ryuuko, etc. It's common for boxers, wrestlers, etc. in Japan to put an English word in front of their names: Guts Ishimatu, Giant Baba, etc. Cheers!
  8. Re: Psionic/Mental Combat Everyone! Thank you for the comments. Cheers!
  9. Re: Paging Dr. Oddhat, Dr. Foxx!, Dr. Oddhat! Japanese translation.
  10. Re: Paging Dr. Oddhat, Dr. Foxx!, Dr. Oddhat! Japanese translation. Oddhat! Coincidentally, there is a game being made for PlayStation2, due this winter. It's call Wrestling Angels Survivor, and one of the characters is called Thunder Ryuuko. Maybe she fits Enforcer84's image. She's serious about wrestling and stoically pursues become more powerful. She has a firm code, and she's dutiful. Although she seems cold, she is also like a big sister. Her quote is, "If you don't want to get injured, come at me seriously." Her forte is power manoeuvres and her special attack is Power Bomb. Here is the link: http://www.success-corp.co.jp/software/ps2/was/char010.html Cheers!
  11. Re: Paging Dr. Oddhat, Dr. Foxx!, Dr. Oddhat! Japanese translation. Enforcer84! For little dragon, I would say Ryuu No Ko or Chiisana Ryuu, but that sounds like a baby dragon. I think you want something that sounds powerful. I suggest: Jinryuu (human dragon) Ryuudou (dragon child) Ryuujin Douji (dragon god’s child) My friend suggests: Ryuu No Keshin (dragon incarnation) Ryuuken (dragon fist) Cheers!
  12. Re: Psionic/Mental Combat Heroes! What do you think about Spreading a mental attack, or making a Speading Power Advantage? Cheers

  14. Re: ghost characters campaign Mrs. Oddhat! That is an excellent idea. I don’t know if it was your or Oddhat’s idea, but your post is here so I’ll give you rep. I like the idea of having occultists summon the characters. That’s a good plot hook. I also might try starting the campaign without the players knowing they are ghosts. Unlike your character, they will be Desolid and Invisible, so they will learn the truth soon. Normally, I don’t like big surprise changes in a game. Maybe I should plan it as a one session campaign and then ask if they want to continue? Cheers!
  15. Re: waiting for a good roll Everybody! Thank you for the comments. I like McCoy’s idea of Standard Effect Rule with Activation. I also agree with Prestidigitator that a limited form of IPE is necessary. Zed-F pointed out my main wish with this power. She can hide her intent until she gets a good roll. Originally, I was thinking of doing this with Detect + Analyse. Cheers!
  16. Heroes! I want to make a character who can know the effect roll of an attack before making an attack roll. If the effect is going to be lower than she wants, she can cancel the attack, but she still wastes her action and the END. The SFX is that she feels how much energy built up in the attack. She doesn’t know if the attack will hit or how much defence the target has. Cheers!
  17. Re: ghost characters campaign Thank you! That is very helpful. It sounds just like what I’m imagining, and the idea of having a character be a medium is a good option. Cheers!
  18. Re: Incompetent characters Tusaboss! Here are a few other ideas. No Conscious Control. "Sorry, wrong spell." Also, sometimes powers activate accidentally or the player cannot turn them off. Like when you are bowing before the queen or other bad timing. No Conscious Control: Can Turn On At Will But Cannot Control Effects. No Conscious Control and Variable Advantages and Varibale Limitations. The GM chooses the Advantages and Limitations each time the power is used but doesn't tell the player. "Sorry, I didn't mean to Area Of Effect that." "Did the spell fail, was it Invisible, is it going to occur one minute from now, or did it just go off in another dimension and upset someone?" Put all the powers in an MP or VPP which only allows using one power at a time, and take a Psych Limit 'never remembers that shifting points will turn off the current power'. This is good when the mage tries to attack while flying or cast a spell while holding up a Force Wall to protect her friends. Cheers!
  19. Re: ghost characters campaign Sinanju! I like the supporting cast idea. It’s be easy because each player should already have a background with several connections. They also have to come up with a story about their death, which should give story idea. Having the player start without a clue also sounds good. But if I use the bureaucracy idea, eventually some agent will contact them. Maybe I should let the players decide if they want to join the bureau or be renegades hunted by the bureau. TkdGuy! Yuuyuu Hakusho is probably higher power than I’m thinking, but it has some good ideas. By the way, in a recent TV programme surveying most popular anime of all time from people of all ages, Yuuyuu Hakusho was #28. Here is the link. http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/anime100/contents/ranking/cur/index.html But when I watched the programme, the ranking was slightly different. Gundam was #1, Dragonball was #2. A few others seem a little out of order. Cheers!
  20. Heroes! I have a campaign idea, and I’d like to hear comments. It’s a modern day heroic campaign. The characters are all ghosts. They can buy powers to affect the solid world such as Telekinesis, Mind Control possession, the ability to turn off their ghostly Invisibility to sight and sound, and so on. In adventures, players use their powers to help people in the living world. Stop criminals, stop someone who wants to commit suicide, etc. However, if they do anything too obvious, they may scare off the people they want to help, or ghost hunters may appear. Also, there are harmful ghosts who use their powers to harm living people and attack the characters. I’m thinking of requiring everyone to take a DNPC and be a guardian spirit for that person. Then, each session could be about a different player’s DNPC. Also, I’m thinking of having a ghost bureaucracy. The players have a supervisor who watches over them. Based on their actions, they get rewards or punishment. Cheers!
  21. Re: 3d6 Dice Roll Probabilities prestidigitator! Thank you. It's on p.34 of the Bestiary. It's a bell curve that shows the probability of each number. Cheers
  22. Re: 3d6 Dice Roll Probabilities Heroes! Is this chart in one of the 5th edition books? I think I saw it as a side bar somewhere, but I cannot find it now. Cheers
  23. Steve Long! You use Mind Control on a target, and you try to get +20 to hide effects from the victim. The first attack doesn’t do enough effect. The target notices the attack. You attack again and the second attack does enough effect. Does the target forget both the successful attack and the failed attack, or just the successful attack? Cheers, and thank you in advance.
  24. Re: invisible, desolid follower Derek Hiemforth! Thank you! This detailed reply helps a lot, especially the reasons for using Mind Link or Detect. I haven’t decided everything about them, but they became friends because the character was already able to see and hear the pixie. Based on that evidence and your explanation, I think Detect is more appropriate. Yes, sometimes the pixie will be unable or unwilling to help: when she's out of voice range, Mind Controlled, unconscious, upset with the character, etc. There is more that I want to do with her than just the powers. About the Limitation on Mind Link, what I meant is that the character needs to speak and hear with normal sense: everyone can hear what he says to the pixie, power limited by voice range, loud noise and walls will block communication, etc. Cheers!
  25. Re: invisible, desolid follower The pixie cannot choose who sees her. She is visible to the character because of some connection that is not yet understood. She is also visible to anyone using an appropriate power: Detect Insivible, etc. I thought Images cannot target a single person but are visible to anyone. Cheers!
