  1. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Just a small correction. It wasn't the Empathy Gun in Hitchhikers it was the Point of View Gun.
  2. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas For those who like their fireball spells to describe the effect for observers/potential targets. Cookie Crisp
  3. Re: Pulparize It! If that's his reason for hiding in New York, I don't think that I would consider him a mad scientist. Either way it's a great idea.
  4. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas The alternative version We Will, We Will Rock You: This version doesn't require the deferential gesture but does require a rhythmic clap and stomp that goes Clap Clap Stomp, Clap Clap Stomp
  5. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Ahahahahahahaha (Chair falling over)
  6. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Yep, except when it says "Chicken" then its your guess is as good as mine.
  7. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas It's not Nutritious but it will keep you alive - another Create Food spell. The food created appears in a small tin (with the mysterious symbols Underwoodthat contains a pale paste like substance that tastes like Chicken.
  8. Re: Time travel Dr. Who style - Hero Universe As I recall, when BRTC's Timelords discussed this they related it in terms of significance. It might not mean a whole lot for someone in Algeria if you kill your Grandpa, but it is significant for your Grandma. I always liked having events that would happen regardless. I had a alternate timeline in a Champions game where I brought one of the PC's back to a traumatic event that he caused. Of course in this time line it was caused by an NPC who in the normal time line was a villian. In this timeline he was actually a hero who worshiped the PC in question. When the event in question occurred, the PC was shocked to discover the 'villian' was upset for having caused the event in question to occur. It took the rest of the party to help convince the PC that this wasn't the same NPC that they normally encountered.
  9. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas There is the variant taught by the great wizard A. E. Neuman. What, Me Worry!
  10. Re: Time travel Dr. Who style - Hero Universe I agree with Curufea in that the Time Travel can occur without needing to be statted out. If I remember the old FASA Dr.Who RPG, the PC's were agents of the Continuum Intervention Agency (CIA). Typically were at a point in time where events required their actions to preserve history. This allowed for keeping the Doctor (or any other Timelord) as an NPC for play balance. Unfotunately, my copy is in storage and not easily gotten at.
  11. Re: Future Tech Links A third link about attempts to develop cloaking technology. http://www.wired.com/news/wireservice/0,71972-0.html
  12. Re: [Campeign Creation Project] Pirates of the Naebbirac Astroid Belt
  13. Re: Future Tech Links Check out the rest of the above site by using this link. http://www.oz.net/~coilgun/home.htm Another project that was listed on that site was the Coilgun. To me and the limited (and therefore Dangerous ) amount of knowledge that I have it seems that this is could develop into a personal sized railgun.
  14. Re: [Campeign Creation Project] Pirates of the Naebbirac Astroid Belt The more I think about the idea of selective entry/exit corridors and 'pirate points' the more I want to make this not just a single system but a small cluster. This would create more gravitational hazards. If the cluster idea was accepted, it would likely be roughly 40 or 50 million years old. This would allow some traces of nebulosity (more places to hide). It would also give more space to play in. Some names for the more prominent member of the cluster: Name: Spectral Type: Mass Abuc A0IV (subgiant) 6 Aloinapsih A4IV 4.4 Oicr Otreup F0IV 2.5 Namyac F2IV 2.3 Samahab F2IV 2.3 Sodabrab G0IV 1.75 These should still be young enough to be fairly active to cause problems with sensor range as would the residual dust. The cluster should probably have 20 to 25 total members most of which are of lesser mass. If they were given time to the ones around the G-type main sequence stars might even develop life. This census doesn't include esoteric items such as 'Brown Dwarfs' that would also cause likely problems escaping from someone by engaging hyper-drive. We really haven’t defined the exact form of hyper-drive that is in use. Although I probably won’t be able to post anything until after the weekend, I’ll see whether I can come up with something. My preference in hyper-drives is the type in David Weber’s Honorverse. A star cluster is very likely to have gravity waves, which would be hazardous to ships that aren’t precise in navigating through the cluster.
  15. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas In addition to pie there was also other baked goods such as I knew you were coming so I baked a cake
  16. Re: [Campeign Creation Project] Pirates of the Naebbirac Astroid Belt Not necessarily. The orbital dynamics of a system are going to be determined by the masses of the stars in question. You could have a pair in close orbit of each other that are then orbited by the other two at different distances. I'll lay it out below AB (close pair) C (6 AU from AB) D (10 AU from AB) A - 5 solar masses B - 5 solar masses C - 3 solar masses D - 2 solar mass Note that these are smaller masses than Blue/White Supergiants. The problem is that the stellar wind of a hot young supergiant tends to be very strong (in some cases 300km/sec+. It would likely 'sandblast' a ship to swiss cheese with ionized Hydrogen atoms. Would suggest that spectral class A (think Sirius) would be better. Keep the multiple stars. The don't necessarily have then orbiting each other but definately they should be gravitationally connected. In fact with smaller mass stars you could add a few more and make it a small association of stars. They all formed at the same time from the same basic nebula and therefore have very similar chemical compositions. Just some thoughts from someone who was bit by the astronomy bug as well as the RPG bug.
  17. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Then to take care of any allies he might have on the field (or if he is really tough). Throw the Course of Cream Cheese & Lox: Target area is schmeered in a smothering, thick white creamy spread covering everything. This is followed by blanket cover of a pinkish fish.
  18. Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas Everything but the Kitchen Sink Target area is showered in all sort of kitchen equipment and accessories (including cabinets and counters). This results in a rather large pile. But there is no sink or associated plumbing. Everything and the Kitchen Sink A varient of the above that includes an old fashion porcelain coated cast iron sink at the end for good measure.
  19. Re: Did someone mention Trains? For those of you who base their campaign on the East Coast you probably should know that the Pennsylvania Railroad was the largest. For the first four decades of the Twentieth Century carried 40% of the total U.S. freight traffic. For those wanting some useful information (particularly passenger trains) on the railroad check out this site. http://prr.railfan.net/
  20. Re: Pulparize It! The PC's in my Lost Worlds campaign were swept off Earth through another geometrically shaped oddity the New Jersey Parallelogram. So I definately have to think about adding Nazis with a Zeppelin.
  21. Re: Pulparize It! What a great idea for a crime campaign that isn't just chasing bootleggers, bank robbers, or just plain criminals. Just a small possible modification. With a big enough state, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, California come to mind, you could have enough reports come in that could be gone through manually without overloading and still have enough suspected linked crimes to run with. Additionally, there would be enough area to have to search without being overwhelming. Even so I like this.
  22. Re: DC inspired by TV There's an old Yorkshire Television show called Sandbaggers which a friend of mine in college ran as a Danger International campaign. Was about SIS (MI-6) and was Cold War era (1979-1980). But was really good. It is available on DVD. Is something that could be brought forward just replace the Soviets with terrorists.
  23. Re: No spaceship Another way to have a no starship campaign is as Larry Niven did in Ringworld have the players crash land and then have to figure their way back to civilization. This could be either trek across the surface or get back to space and contact another passing ship. Either way can allow for a GM to challenge the PC's with ancient ruins, hostile natives, etc.
  24. Re: My Ferris Bueller Writeup. I thought that the car was a Ferrari California GT. This is just from memory (so I could be wrong) that when they first show the car they showed the rampant horse that is the Ferrari logo.
