  1. Re: Bashing people with chairs, lightpoles, automobiles... Our rule is that any object used grants haymaker damage without requireing the extra segment to use. The object will give benefits based on size. Throwing a car will grant area of effect, for example. We do not use the defense plus body rules in 5th edition because they do not seem to follow the spirit of the comic books when a brick uses an object. For heroic games I believe it is better to just treat most used objects as small, medium, or large clubs, or to convert the entire attack into killing damage. There are also many of us who do not believe a brick should need to pay points to tie someone with a lightpole. Some brick tricks like armor piercing are ok, but when using outside objects that should be availabe to anyone. If a brick is strong enough to bend a lightpole he should be able to bend it around someone without paying points just as a normal might bend a tree limb to tie someone up.
  2. Re: Dark Champions in Champs Universe? I enjoy dark champions as much as the next guy but the power differences really do not work with Hudson City being part of the champions universe. There is no reason a crime hunter like Nighthawk would have come to Millennium City when there was such a crime-ridden sewer as Hudson City just begging for help. The same goes for Shogushen and Nightwind. It seems just easier to consider Hudson City to be part of Earth-D rather than part of Earth-C.

  4. Re: Millenium City Maps(?)
  5. Re: Millenium City Maps(?) As I understand it hudson city will have detailed maps. Millennium city is apparently too four color to get that level of detail. Even though hudson city is for dark champions we will probably use it as our campaign city because of the map and locations detail. Millennium city is interesting to read but it is far to vague and undefined to be a fully functioning campaign city. Only my opinion here.
  6. Re: Champions Question I do not know this reference so I will skip this question. Sorry. Millennium City is the home of the Champions. San Angelo is a difference universe entirely, but you can put then in the same world if you want. There are no references to San Angelo in any CU product though. It is Mind, Inc, not PSI Inc. Their purpose is to operate as a self-help facility in order for the villain group PSI to gain information about wealthy patrons. This is covered in Millennium City and CKC. The timelines between 4e CU and 5e CU are different. They are two entirely different universes. Many. See above.

  13. Re: How to make this power, Shadow Dagger 2d6 hka + naked advantage Ranged on hka: 1 rec charge, range based on strength. This creates a power that uses strength endurance, but not extra endurance when you throw it. The recoverable aspect of it means that it takes a 1/2 phase to form a new one if you throw it. I would not give it a focus limitation.

  20. Re: Champions vs. Mechanon That is allowed in the rules as long as Mechanon uses one of the attacks in the multipower at that time he can choose to have his levels on DCV.
  21. Re: Champions vs. Mechanon While the combat example is valid I just do not see it being in genre. That example could have been 5 jedi fighting Darth Vadar or the fellowship of the ring fighting a cave troll. Without the genre elements it just comes down to a slugfest. What would Ultron do if he encountred the Avengers? He would boast, he would use powerful attacks, he would not try to defend himself and use flash attacks unless he was getting seriously beaten. Within the genre Ultron would be played as he was designed to be played: arrogant and overconfident. Ultron would not use tactics such as Mechanon just used to win. I'd also point out that Mechanon does not have tactics skill. That is one of the ways the players are supposed to be able to defeat him. The combat was ok for what it was, but I think it if were played out at my gaming table there would be a great many more comic book genre elements that would come into play.
  22. Re: Champions vs. Mechanon Interesting combat but I would doubt that someone who hates organic life and feels like he must destroy it, not to mention being strongly overconfident, would immediately put all of his levels into dcv. If I were the gm I would not allow this until Mechanon as at half or less stun. That right there is the difference between 4 hits per phase and 1.
  23. Re: Villains, Vandals, and Vermin: Who should be in it? Just to bring my comments back on topic, there seems to be between 50 and 100 names on the villain pdf of characters who do not have write ups. I would think any or all of them would make good additions to the champions world. I do not see any reason to invent even more new villains where there are so many current 'new' villains which do not have a write up of any type.
  24. Re: Villains, Vandals, and Vermin: Who should be in it? I do not believe san angelo is coming back. Reports from gold rush games seem to be that they are in serious financial troubles and are hoping on some licensing thing to give them some cash influx. I would not expect any thing new for san angelo unless you are planning on licensing the setting yourself.
