I dunno, if you're a professional Monster Hunter, you could have the expensive Platnium bullets, blessed by a priest in there...just in case...?

One thing I do like abouit 6e. If I have a question about the rules, I can be 99% sure that what I am looking for is there and also with an example that illustrates how something works. 5e base is around the same size as 4e. 5er is much larger. YMMV
I love RPGs that have a TON of supplements. So that I can find anyting I need with game stats (ie I won't have to convert)

    YMMV

Here's my humble (unfinished) spreadsheet, based on the work of others (listed in HM's post, above) as well as my own customizations. It fits my needs, YMMV.

Except for eventual powder deposit and deposits on the front part of the cylinder there shouldn't be any problem if you switch the three different rounds in that chamber you can also do three or four different rounds in the 327 Federal chamber that are shorter and less powerful. The biggest problem would be user expectations, different recoil levels and such. The revolvers don't rely on the cartridge for operation, so that is one small ad vantage they have. Except maybe the oddball webley autorevolver, iirc the webley fosbury or some such.

I have both because my soft cover fell apart and I had to repair it with duct tape.  Still got it though. And champs I-III and 3rd edition with the Viper's Nest module  I can't keep up with the publishing these days, though. I'm just glad I got stuff like Valley of Mystery and Strike Force when they came out.

Nice thing about 5e is that a LOT of the books are still available. Most are also half off here on the Hero Store, which makes them really easy to collect.

Thank you for the welcome. I'm using the 6th Edition PDFs. Right now, I'm still working on getting the framework for my setting laid out. I do need to create some of the more important NPC's, though, which is part of why I'm here. I hope I can pick up some tips on worldbuilding and on creating memorable & unique NPCs.

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?
-Boll Weevil is one of my first Champions characters, a not-based-on-anyone character that can cling to walls and shoot webs that catch thieves just like flies.
I have been on the boards here since 2000. I lurk frequently but haven't posted much lately.

What was the first tabletop RPG you played?
    D&D boxed set in 1981.

What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?
Champions. I think my first real game other than combat on the included map (with Rosie's Diner!) was the Target Hero supplement. I've never been great at GMing, to be honest, but many times it was the only way to get my friends to play.

    What are you currently playing/GMing?
Nothing currently. My local gaming group broke up years ago and I haven't played since the demise of Hero Central.

Hyper-Man reacted to Durzan Malakim in Welcome to Hero Forum - Please Introduce yourself (especially Lurkers)
How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? Durzan Malakim is the name of a Dungeons & Dragons Online character that I have ported over to several other games. I've grown so used to being "Durz" online it felt only natural to continue the tradition here.
What was the first tabletop RPG you played? Although I recall owning a copy of the 1977 Dungeons & Dragons basic set, I think I actually first played Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. As others have noted, it's often easier to indulge in the meta-game of character creation than to actually find and play in games.
What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? I first GMed in college by running a game of GURPS Space where the plot was going to be inspired by (read: shamelessly stolen from) Dan Simmon's Hyperion novel. The PCs were supposed to travel from Earth to Mars to investigate some alien artifacts & ruins. Instead, the game became a Mutiny-on-the-Bounty scenario when the ship's PC captain used her socially-unacceptable psionic powers to uncover an NPC's secret involvement in a past murder. After ordering the NPC detained without cause, the other PC's thought she had gone mad and plotted to remove her. Oh the places PCs go...
What are you currently playing/GMing? I'm a player in a game of The Strange, where I cross into alternate realities and try to prevent the world from being devoured by cosmic-scale abominations. No pressure.

I'm also in the process of joining a Champions 6E game run by Steve. I look forward to putting on the costume again and rolling lots of D6.
When did you start to play Hero? I ran across the third(?) edition of Champions and fell in love with it. It was the one with this cover.

Hyper-Man reacted to Pattern Ghost in Welcome to Hero Forum - Please Introduce yourself (especially Lurkers)
I'm not especially new, but I haven't hit the actual game-related sections of the forums a lot lately due to not really actively playing anything. So, here I go:

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? It's an old AIM handle I used to keep up with my -- wait for it -- Amber Diceless group. It comes from Roger Zelazny's Amber series. I'd give the detailed explanation of what a Pattern Ghost is, but it's a bit complicated. I'll attempt a short version:

Amber is one pole of Reality, the other being the Courts of Chaos. Between them lie infinite parallel universes known as Shadows. Denizens of Amber and Chaos are "real" people (at least to their point of view) and possess abilities and powers greater than most Shadow people. Each pole has a mystical construct/intelligence that can confer a certain level of control over Shadow to those who traverse them. In Amber, that construct is the Pattern, which is essentially a pattern etched into the ground. When an Amberite walks the Pattern, they are tested mentally and physically. If they don't die, their blood becomes imprinted with an image of the Pattern, and they gain the ability to travel in and manipulate Shadow.

This imprint is a two way street. The Pattern retains an imprint of the walker and can use that imprint to make a living copy of that person, a Pattern Ghost. A Pattern Ghost must draw power from the Pattern or drink Pattern-imprinted blood or die. Since the Pattern only uses the ghosts as tools, those that want to live and be independent need to find a source of Pattern-imprinted blood.

It all makes a lot more sense in the context of the novels.
What was the first tabletop RPG you played? Red Box Dungeons and Dragons, what the OSR grognards are now calling B/X D&D. That was 1981. Moved on to AD&D rather quickly because that's what most of the other kids were playing at the time.
What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? Some 1st Edition AD&D, though I usually prefer to play rather than GM.
What are you currently playing/GMing? Nothing at the moment. I keep toying with the idea of running a FASERIP or B/X D&D PBEM or PBP campaign, using old modules, but never get around to it.

When did you start to play Hero? I played a lot of Marvel FASERIP from '88 to '91 when I was in the Army in Berlin. The group used to play Champions, and had the very book there's a picture of in durzanmalakim's post above. We played a bit with it then, but I didn't start playing Hero until much later, playing PBEM with 4th Edition in the middle '90's.

So am I correct in assuming that if you don't have one of those 'brackets' (I don't know what they're called) you can't effectively reload the gun?

Bingo. The "moon clips" allow the rounds without a rim (hence, rimless) that would otherwise not be properly seated to instead sit properly in the cylinder and eliminate the much greater possibility of the firing pin not hitting the primer.

Although this may seem impractical compared to a typical revolver (such as .357 Magnum variant or .44 Magnum variant) that can load single rimmed rounds just fine, there are two advantages that come to mind.

    1. You effectively are always using a "speedloader", so reload times are quicker than handloading each individual cartridge.

    2. You have the ability to utilize bullets that pretty much only go in semi-automatic firearms, such as 9x19mm Parabellum (an extremely common caliber). Yes, 9x19mm revolvers do exist.

Edit: I just thought of another minor benefit. When you empty the cylinder of spent casings, they'll all be together in the moon clip. This allows for easier retrieval/cleanup...especially in a hurry.

First, those are called "moon Clips".   THere are also half moon and 2 rd versions, iirc.

Depends on how the chambers are cut.   If they are cut right, you could individually load the rounds, and they would headspace on the case mouth.  Reliability could suffer, as if the cases are a little too narrow, the case could move forward in the chamber and the Primer might not detonate when struck by the firing pin.

My dad has an old Enfield .45 designed to use either the moon clips with .45 ACP or the special case called the .45 Auto RIm, which is the .45 ACP with a thicker than normal rim to give the same headspace control and distance to the primer  as the moon clips.

For me, I am lucky if I get to play in any game I would like to buy; so, I have owned a lot system and a lot supplements to those systems that I have never played.  I live in a small city in northeast Oklahoma.  There just aren't that many people who play RPGs around here and many of those who do aren't into what I am into.
