  1. Re: Must use villains I'm interested, but the ones I like (Seven Horsemen, VOICE, etc.) are ones that HERO no longer has the rights to.
  2. Re: Must use villains I just can't utilize him.
  3. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Heh, I not only like the quote, but I like the description of the power build. I may be using that when I think of an appropriate villain for it (only thing I can think of now is Bulldozer doing a kiss. ).
  4. Re: Soviet Superheroes Pshaw! Have you not read up on Cavalier and Binary Man? And my PC, Juggernaut, is a city employee with a public ID, so she's being paid to be a superhero. Though, she's not being paid enough for even 1 point of wealth.
  5. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Maybe she was speaking metaphorically?
  6. Re: DEMON plot help (Warning: Spoilers) Did you ever make a decision on this? Inquiring minds want to know.

  8. Re: Must use villains The "core" villains will obviously range by personal opinion. For example, I've only used Dr. Destroyer in two campaigns. In one (4E) he was only a background figure and it was his son (the lower power version from Classic Enemies) that had more impact on the PCs' world. In the other, Destroyer was killed by an Extermination Squad during a V'han invasion. I've never used Mechanon. Villains I tend to use for the right feel are: Bulldozer Ogre Anklyosaur VIPER Armadillo Black Paladin Rainbow Archer Eurostar (usually mentioned in the background) GRAB Thunder & Lightning PSI Ripper Grond Others I prefer are VOICE, Seven Horsemen and many other groups and individuals that didn't make it to 5th Ed.
  9. Yes, it is. Popular Death Man! He dies nearly every adventure or combat, only to return a day or two later. His death is usually always mourned, no matter how often it is he returns. Every once in a while, his power set changes when he returns.
  10. Re: Soviet Superheroes "Baba Yaga" means "witch" in Russian (and as has been mentioned, there is folklore about her). Maybe Siberian (or Cyberian) who is a cyborg A super soldier who knows sambo, just goes by the name "Tovarish" (toe var eesh or toe va reesh [it's been about 10 years since I took Russian]), which means "comrade." I think Stalin actually means "man of steel" or "steel man" and could be your brick. "Metro" (just like in English, but roll your r) could be a duplicator!
  11. Re: Beefing up Villians PCs gain XP and in most games, NPCs do as well. I would give each member of the criminal team (unless it goes against their character) 3pt Teamwork for starters and one skill level. Skill levels can really make a difference.
  12. Re: Who lives in these quarters? Hero #1 Sheesh, you demand so much from us and give us so little pay. Wait, we don't get paid? Slave driver! OK, so who lives here? Bob. Poor Bob just doesn't realize what's happened. He thinks he's going insane or that "history" is being erased somehow. And he's trying to find out why. What Bob doesn't realize (yet?) is that he's in the wrong dimension. He's from an Alternate Earth (TM pending) where everything he's drawn did happen. During each of V'han's invasions, there's a slight chance of a dimensional rift/hiccup in which a person in one dimension will switch places with their other half in another dimension (where applicable. Void where prohibited). During V'han's last invasion, he came to the Champions Universe but just didn't realize the transition. What he sees as people "not remembering" are just instances where the two Earths have had their differences. Since V'han isn't one to advertise this little side effect, Bob's never really thought about it (or has he?). The newspaper clippings which seem "conspiracy theorist" are Bob's notations of differences between what was his home dimension and what is his new dimension. Bob is a street level strength hero. He's the 'Batman' to everyone else's Superman. While one of the (if not the) weakest in terms of power, Bob has lots of jack-of-all-trades skills, is a decent fighter and one heck of a talented artist. He's constantly sketching so he doesn't "forget" the past, but he's also a good sculptor, painter, etc. The Thinker cast? It's the one from his home dimension and the only hard physical clue he has that he's in another dimension. He's still testing theories on why the other original is in France. (His secret ID was working on a commission on methods to keep Rodan's work from eroding or weathering. He happened to be touching it when the shift took place.) In his original dimension, Bob was a soldier who joined up with an NSA-PRIMUS joint project which was the US equivalent to UNTIL's Peacemaker troops, something this dimension doesn't have. He often worked with his dimension's Champions (Why doesn't anyone remember? Why?!) but has joined a different team (one that happened to be in the same city he lived in and was in his home dimension) seeing as how this dimension's Defender refuted him. Bob is disciplined and a big morale booster for the team, despite his hardships. He doesn't complain openly about any tough situation, including what he fears may be his memory loss or false implant illusions (he did tango with Menton and Psi a time or two). Quote: "There are some things worth fighting for."
  13. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
  14. In an attempt to stay on topic... Field Test: "I'll go through too... I seem to be good at not getting knocked out so far."
  15. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I've been in a few games like that (usually with the same GM ). I remember a Werewolf game we were in once where one of the PCs rolled so many critical successes to leap from point A to point B that the GM ruled she overshot "due to such powerful leg strength" and ended up instead falling into a pit a hundred feet down.
  16. Re: VPPs for Dummies? (IE. Me!) Ah, duh. I see what I did on Hero Designer. I clicked the +2 Cosmic Power advantage, but I chose "Done" instead of "Select."
  17. Re: VPPs for Dummies? (IE. Me!) Who, me?
  18. Re: Istvatha V'han - why can't she conquer Earth? I'm not sure I understand your point of "It doesn't make sense the way it's written up," when you follow it with "I don't know what the actual points look like...." V'han is essentially a plot device. She doesn't have to pay for followers the same way a king or queen write-up wouldn't. It would also be pointless to write-up followers for 100 million dimensions. Just using HD v2.4, the points for 99,999 followers built on 150 base points is 115 character points. Do we really need to figure out how many points 1 billion followers would be? And her followers may not be 100% loyal to her, so much as obedient to the military/government. And like nearly all organizations in life, there are bound to be some trying to make a coup or are exploiting their position for personal power (more plot hooks). As for the rest of what you stated, there are about 10 pages discussing what you're just now bringing up.
  19. Re: DEMON plot help (Warning: Spoilers) I have a different take all together. My first thought is that the Lapis Exilis "accidentally on purpose" fell out. Lucifer hinted that the item holds power for the archdemons but dooms the person who bears it (he being immune to that side effect, of course). So, what does the gem really do? First, it gives the bearer a bonus to his Presence, as well as Oratory and Persuasion. Second, it allows the archdemons to "see" what the wearer sees (may or may not provide sound) using any observation source (crystal ball, pool of water, etc). These two become readily apparent early on, though the wearer won't realize the second effect. It also has two hidden abilities. The initial one does a Presence drain over time to those listening to the wearer/bearer as well as giving a Psych Limitation about being compelled to agree/believe whatever the wearer states. This will generally affect vander Bleek's recipients, but also has a slight effect on the archdemons (sneaky, sneaky that). They will continue to use Bleek as a mole because A) they have a new espionage item [which they won't use themselves knowing other archdemons would be privy to their actions] and they feel slightly compelled to Bleek's "urging" of keeping him around (he is desperate). Note that vander Bleek (or the wearer) won't be aware of the spying power. While all of the powers have invisible power effects (only detectable by someone actively searching/studying), the last hidden power is truly difficult to discover. It is more of a plot device, but while the wearer becomes more accustomed to the gem, they become (unknowingly) slavishly obedient to Lucifer. The result of the wearing of the gem keeps everyone doing what they were in the same status quo, but both vander Bleek and the archdemons have more confidence and both think they have the upper hand, when really neither does. YMMV.
  20. Re: VPPs for Dummies? (IE. Me!) Evidently you didn't notice the street criminals back then.
  21. Re: VPPs for Dummies? (IE. Me!) I personally recommend the Multipower.
  22. Re: Istvatha V'han - why can't she conquer Earth?
  23. Re: Istvatha V'han - why can't she conquer Earth? Yes' date=' I think I recall seeing something like that as well on [u']The Universe[/u]. I might ask for that series for my birthday or Christmas. To quote Bill Nye and my geology professor, "Science rocks!"
  24. Re: DEMON plot help (Warning: Spoilers) Interesting ideas. I'm going to need to reread this section in DSOD to see if I can add anything. Probably not, but I'll still reread it.
  25. Re: What would be your take on She-Grond? I have a Sandra Ferguson in my online campaign that could fill this role nicely. I keed, I keed!
