  1. Re: Vampires in Supers Setting Marvel is hardly the official source on vampires. Marvel is hardly an official source on itself. People don't stay dead, the Hulk spontaneously gains regenerative powers once he and Wolverine fight, and the victory in a fight depends on the writer's whims and storyline. It's a universe where most everyone hates/despises everyone else. One of the problems with creating a vampire in a superhero game is that vampires aren't really in the same genre. Playes want to be a vampire because of how "cool" they are, but when they're created, realize how equal footing they are (if not weaker) on the "super" scale. That's when power gamers and munchkinism takes over with "boost strength and defenses" as well as "wear armor to protect from sunlight/wooden stakes" etc. If you want to roleplay a vampire in a supers genre, then roleplay it. Utilize the stregths and accept the weaknesses. Be the character that takes out the normals/agents. Be the one who does the investigating. But please stop thinking that you have to be a "combat wombat" if you're going to play a vampire.
  2. Re: Vampires in Supers Setting From The Ultimate Brick, pg. 7, 11: # men = # STR - Lift(kg) - Example (if it has a + after it, that means there was no example given, so I gave the preceding example on the list) 2 men = 15 STR - 200 - Piano, motorcycle, etc. 3 men = 18 STR - 300 - Medium floor safe 4 men = 20 STR - 400 - Chariot, grizzly bear 5 men = 21 STR - 467 - Chariot+, grizzly bear+ 10 men = 26 STR - 933 - Liberty Bell 15 men = 29 STR - 1,400 - Two horses+ 20 men = 31 STR - 1,867 - average wooden telephone pole 25 men = 33 STR - 2,400 - large civilian helicopter 30 men = 34 STR - 2,800 - small military helicopter 40 men = 36 STR - 3,733 - small elephant+ 50 men = 38 STR - 4,800 - large military helicopter 100 men = 43 STR - 9,600 - buiness jet, Chinook helicopter YMMV
  3. Re: God Package... Thread necromancy! I've lost count, but is this all of them? Or all you plan on doing? Also, have you considered compiling all the write-ups you do onto one thread and then possibly linking it in your sig (sort of like your DC/Marvel)? Or do you prefer to keep them separate in hopes that we won't keep asking you for more?
  4. Re: Vampires in Supers Setting Ack! Well, before I help, I have to say I'm sick of Vampire and half-vampire PCs in games. However, since you're probably saying "Kirby, this isn't for your campaign," I'll add the following information: Stalker from BBB was a nice, threatening vampire and he had a 45 STR. To help save on points, he had an "Elemental Control - Vampire Powers" which included a 1.5d6 AP HKA (3d6+1 w/STR), Mind Control, Teleport, and Telepathy. He had +15 STR, but only after draining human blood (-1; *may* be considered -2 for a "Hero" ), 1d6 cumulative Transform (to vampire), Gliding (cape), enhanced hearing, IR Vision, bonus PRE (only vs PRE attacks), Life support. His skills were Stealth, Survival, Seduction, Portugese, Spanish, English. Now, he was built on 468 points, but with an EC and some work (and not making yours as powerful as Stalker) you might be able to work it in a 350 game. I would start out by figuring out all the vampire powers you want to have and whichever is the smallest in points, making 1/2 that the base of your EC. He also had 175 points in disads that I can see your PC taking, (as well as 105 that you may/may not take) so maybe the GM would allow you the same in order to start out above the 350 max. Just, beware the Tick's Little Wooden Boy.
  5. Re: CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE II - What Do You Want To See? I don't care for the new DEMON, myself. I personally preferred the style of the older in which there was the facade deception using men who wore powered armor and carried blasters to make DEMON appear nothing more than VIPER or GENOCIDE. Behind the scenes, however, was the cut-throat organization that was secretive, misleading, and always acted with a plot to have at least one person killed. I used Target Hero very well with this format that chilled even the veteran players I gamed with.

  7. Re: What is Munchkin? I hate it when that happens. It's one of the reasons I root for the big lizard in "Godzilla vs. Mothra."
  8. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From Star Wars Galaxies (sorry, but it's the only gaming group I have right now ): "Would it help if I just killed myself and then came back?" "Great, now I'm on Sanford and Son."
  9. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... You're using that picture and you didn't even give her seduction?
  10. Re: What is Munchkin? I don't have a stone goddess; that's Vestnik. Though, if you're referring to me as a stone goddess, I'd prefer the masculine form, since I'm a male.
  11. Re: Firewing vs. Gravitar? And since you don't comprehend the standards I've been using, this ends my part of the discussion.
  12. Re: Firewing vs. Gravitar? Looking at the entry in USPD, it seems to be in one phase; however, the CKC report does make it seem to go in that order. Another wee gripe from me is the picture on page 103 of USPD. Gravitar is shown standing in her AoE TK, even though she has neither personal immunity nor the STR to overcome it (especially while using her other powers). Although, I can understand the need of her being in the picture for dramatic reasons as opposed to following game mechanic reasons.
  13. Re: Firewing vs. Gravitar? I always felt something was wrong with the encounter between Eurostar and Gravitar and I believe I've discovered it. Gravitar is said to have pinned most of the group to the ground (AoE TK), held Durak in the air (Flight, UAA) while simultaneously ripping Fiacho's implants out (60 STR TK). This is a Multiple Power Attack (which is legal) yet she's applying it to three different areas instead of at the same target (which is illegal). Was there something in 5ER that changed the rule for Multiple Power Attacks?
  14. Re: Firewing vs. Gravitar? :sigh: First, points alone don't make someone a munchkin character; it's in the build. Second, at 293 points, Deadweight > 200 points. You can refer to him as a Spider-man villain, but that's your opinion, not mine, so I won't entertain that thought (considering Spiderman probably would be built on more than 350 points). Next, Gravitar is 1,000 points in a starting 350 universe, Deadweight is 293 points in a starting 250 pt universe. Finally (hopefully), "Deadweight is something of a one-trick pony." - Enemies of San Angelo, p. 39. "Gravitar is a master villain-level character intended to oppose entire parties of PCs and have at least an even chance of defeating them." - CKC, p.23. As an aside, you seem to have recently taken the stance of "Gravitar makes sense, all other villains mentioned are munchkins." If you can't see the difference between the two, then please don't continue discussing it with me. I'm bored with this.
  15. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 Hmm, I think you're about half a week late and two submissions short. But I could have missed something.
