I know it won't make either of you feel better, but I just want to remind everyone that this was the actual objective of the vaccination program: to get to the point where COVID is for most people an aggravation, rather than a trauma and possible mortal threat. It's a huge step forward.

Following up in case anyone's curious: I started feeling some symptoms about ten hours after the shot: runny nose, slight hoarseness (both mostly gone now), and a little pain in my shoulder. The pain has increased overnight, but is still tolerable and not impairing. Overall I think I got off pretty lightly, but I'm glad there were some noticeable effects, as that implies the vaccine is working.

Well, one of my Housemates has it. Yay team

My Dad just called to tell me he'd just heard from the hospital. My brother died earlier this morning. Sad news, but at least he's no longer suffering.
 
My favorite uncle-in-law died just a few days ago, and we mark one year since my Mom died day after tomorrow.
 
It's been a hell of a year.

Would've been awesome if they could've matched the wing color.
 

Memo to self: When I get back to school tomorrow, I need to remember to order a bunch of peach tree dishes for the science department for next year.

My brother fell down a flight of stairs and suffered a traumatic brain injury 15 years ago or so. Since then he's been unable to hold a job, so he's been living on disability in a rent-controlled apartment two hours away from my parents.
 
I got a call from my Dad about an hour and a half ago. My brother had apparently been found unresponsive in his apartment this morning and taken to the hospital. He's in the ICU under sedation and on a ventilator. They think he had a seizure. That's all anyone knows so far. Dad's going down tonight or tomorrow to get a closer look at the situation.
 
With the last week of the school year coming up next week, I might as well be on the Moon.

I just got a text from Lady P, who went over to see him after her class tonight.
