  1. Following up my own postings here.... I read the link that Monolith posted. Found what appeared to be some oversensitive postings that turned into paranoid rantings. It's a long way from being told by a game store owner that the store isn't going to carry any superhero RPGs but Champions to being bodily thrown out of a store for bringing in a character converted to another system, or even petition drives headed up by those nefarious masterminds at Hero Games. I stand by my initial assessment and will call upon some stores when names are forthcoming (which I have my doubts about).
  2. Thanks, Monolith. That's got more pertinent info than the link I posted. Methinks I may make some phone calls in the next couple of days.
  3. Can someone post linkage to the original postings in the actual thread where it originally appeared? Edit: Never mind, I found it. http://pub84.ezboard.com/fsuperheroshowdown66104frm16.showMessageRange?topicID=1.topic&start=21&stop=40
  4. I'll post here what I posted there: I also did a search on the GOO boards and found no such thread. Somebody been trolled, and somebody been trolling.
  5. That helps. Thanks for the info. Just saw the G:1980 episode "The Return of Starbuck." At the very end, doesn't Starbuck have access to a Cylon fighter, the one the three centurions landed in? I'm going to ignore the 1980 continuity and have Colonel Starbuck as a flight instructor.
  6. Does anybody know if, according to canon, the Galactica (or any other battlestar) has a main gun of some kind? It would make sense, but I don't know if one was ever shown, and I don't get to watch often enough to be able to catch it.
  7. Right. I remember hearing about that. G:1980 was the Highlander II of Battlestar Galactica, though. And how many times did warriors from the Galactica get stranded somewhere, only to get rescued by weird coincidences?
  8. It's an episodic series and Starbuck is one of the main characters. Next episode he's back onboard the Galactica, and if anyone asks he has a quick explanation for how he got back. "I located a damaged Cylon fighter and was able to jury rig some repairs on it. Quicker than you could say 'by your command' I was back on board the Galactica." The writing was just crappy enough that they would have bought it.
  9. I did notice the FX thing. A shot of four Cylon Raiders splitting up, a shot of two Vipers swooping down and firing on a Raider, a shot of an exploding laser (?) blast seen through the side viewport of a Raider, etc. For all that, they weren't bad FX. I did happen to find a GURPS Battlestar Galactica page which may prove helpful. http://staff.bus.bton.ac.uk/fesg/bsgrpg/ Apropos of nothing, I have this vision of Colonel Starbuck taking some recruits through flight training. Starbuck: "This button fires your lasers, and this button activates your high speed thrusters." Recruit: "Colonel Starbuck, what does the third button do?" Starbuck: "Oh, that button. Never push that button."
  10. I've kinda been getting into the series repeats on Sci-Fi. Anyone know of any Hero resources for Battlestar Galactica?
  11. 1. If a Power is built Usable By Others using the Differing Modifiers rule on 5E 177, can the Power be placed into a Framework? 2. If the UBO Power is built into a Focus, does that trump the rules for Line of Sight and/or maximum range?
  12. BEGIN COMETEER SPOILER SPACE... DON'T READ PAST THIS POINT IF YOU ARE COMETEER Make it an "F*** With Me" sign. People kick him, but they also fill his locker with shaving cream, pants him in front of the entire school, and the like. END COMETEER SPOILER SPACE Give 'em each two envelopes. Let each one open one envelope. If they don't like the set in this envelope they can open the second, but if they do they have to take what's in the second one. Make sure they're not similar power sets (i.e. martial artist and mentalist, brick and energy projector, etc.) so someone doesn't feel screwed.
  13. Firelighting may not be useful in combat in and of itself, but take a look at Robert Asprin's second Myth book to see how it can be used. I always built Skeeve's firelighting spell as a 1 pip RKA.
  14. You guys think you have it rough? I was Cosmically Powerful.
  15. I'd say that with heroic characters, give them each a mecha and don't charge points for it. Each character gets a mecha built on the same number of points. If they want to upgrade it by spending their own points, they can on a 1 for 1 or 1 for 5 or whatever basis the GM decides.
