  1. Sounds like you're doing it right!
  2. My condolences - that's really awful
  3. I like pumpkin spice flavor, but it should be time-limited and not "OMG, it's September 1st, roll out the PUNKIN!" Maybe mid-October through Thanksgiving at most. Keep it special. Then again, I'm one of those cranky types who hates when stores start putting up Christmas decorations in August
  4. Even Keef was a lad once - before he became one of the Great Old Ones.
  5. I crunched up a fender on my parent's car when I was much younger, inadvertently trying to occupy the same space as a concrete pillar in a parking garage, so some might say that the wheel has turned and I've now been repaid
  6. I have a nicely dented fender as a gift from my daughter. I think that's probably slightly preferable to your situation, though.
  7. That sounds like the starting point- it became, IIRC, +1/2 for the first +1, +1/4 for the next and alternating +1/2 and +1/4 after. Or one could say a +2 multiple was a +3/4 advantage. Since there's no +3/8, a +1 SM becomes a +1/2 advantage. It was just a straight +1/2 until 5th ed. (well, 5ER for sure) where it dropped down to a straight +1/4. The alternating values for multiple levels of the Advantage might be a good optional approach if +1/2 seems too much and +1/4 seems too low.
  8. As a side note, it appeared in some Espionage! weapons, and was written up by George MacDonald as an Advantage (+1/2) in Adventurers Club #2. And now back to the actual discussion...
  9. Kind of sets the stage for "Everybody Wants Some" in Better Off Dead...
  10. I almost feel guilty laughing at those... But someone should make an NPC based on:
  11. Same here, and it will probably continue (to a lesser degree, but still...) through the rest of the summer

  14. And that's totally OK, I'm not trying to strongarm you or anyone else into watching it, I only wished to give my own perspective on it as a roundabout response to death tribble's question. I can completely respect that it was not something with any appeal to you.

  16. I haven't seen the live-action Attack on Titan movie and so can't comment on what was presented there, but I've watched all of the anime that's been released so far (seasons 1-3, season 4 part 1). Before watching it, having only seen images and short bits, I had originally just scratched my head over the appeal, but decided to give it a try after talking with someone about it. Without spoiling anything - which, admittedly, won't then really answer your questions - I just have to say that it's a complex story and bit of worldbuilding which unfolds only slowly, so you start off thinking things are one way (and having one set of questions as a viewer), but changing perspectives and new information make for some dramatic shifts in understanding. I like it, but totally get that it isn't for everyone. Yes, there's some gore, but it's not the focus, and it's not trying to be photo-realistic or anything. I'm not a horror/gore fan at all, so if that was its main focus, I would have ditched it early on. It is character and story focused, with a lot of development of both.

  18. Just finished Stranger Things 4 vol. 1 - enjoyed it! Don't want to say too much lest I spoil, but Murray is pretty fun this season

  20. Hope you get through this quickly and without serious complications! My symptoms are slowly starting to subside, but I have at least a few more days left to go, I know. Yes, absolutely. I'm very grateful to be vaccinated! (I've unfortunately have had to hear from a family member that I got COVID because of the vaccine, and that just made me feel soooo angry!)
  21. Just sharing this here in case it helps somebody else: I started feeling a scratchy throat on Sunday, and took an at-home COVID test which returned a negative result. My symptoms erupted into what seemed to be a full-on head cold by the next day, and continued unabated Tuesday. Someone suggested that I test again, which I did, and: strongly positive result this time. Some follow-up Googling educated me that this is at least not uncommon with Omicron, where symptoms can start while the viral load is still low enough not to be picked up reliably by at-home tests. Re-testing on the 3rd or 5th day after symptoms begin may be advisable. (I'm not a health care professional, this is just from my own experience, etc., etc. - again, just putting it out there to help anyone else who may not have been aware of this.) I'm fully vaccinated & double-boosted. The symptoms have remained at bad-cold levels so far, thankfully - no shortness of breath or anything more serious. I just get to play the isolation game, oh boy.
