  1. Re: Need an 8th PC character concept and some other help Okay, it looks like I will add a martial arts/sneaky/skills type character. I won't firm up anything for a few more days, though, too see what others may come up with. Though the Martial Artist is the overall consensus here. Right now, I'm looking at possibly converting a NPC I had made up that is along these lines. (Though the character might fit better in Dark Champions, we'll see.) The character I might add to be the 8th: Martial Arts/Sneaky/Skills- Persona, who would also have minor abilities in shape change. The other that I am thinking of is possibly someone like an American Indian with Martial Attacks and have the ability to call on the animals for abilities. (Something like Animal Man- Grant Morrison style.) Perhaps call him/her Totem. I'll have to think on this some more. I am worried that I'll just end up creating a Batman clone. Which wouldn't be a bad thing... Thanks for the ideas so far... I do like the Achilles idea a lot too... Thanks for the suggestion about changing Psiche to Psyche, or maybe just Psych?
  2. Hey there, I have 8 players in my group, and we usually play another game that involves d20's and fantasy, but I have convinced them to try out the Hero System, specifically the Champions Universe. They want me to create everything- which I have no problem doing, just give them characters to play, set up some cheat sheets for combat, skills, powers, etc... and other tips on how to play. I'm currently working on the group and this is what I have so far: a Speedster- Rush, a Brick- Titan (growth and density), a Mystic Master- Arcanus, a Brick- Star Spangled Banner (patriot), an Energy Blaster- Eclipse (light and dark), a Gadgeteer/Suit guy- Vulcan, and a Mentalist- Psiche. (I know the names are cheesy) What I need is an 8th character to round out this group but I can't really come up with anything. Any help here would be great. I'm using the standard superhero starting point for points. Also are there any free cheat sheets available, or something akin to a quick start guide that doesn't cost money? I know other companies make this, but I haven't seen one for Hero other than the sidekick- and that costs money. Does anyone else have this many in their group? I've played Champions in the distant past with this many but never had to GM. I've still got to develop their arch rival group, though their main arch-villain will most likely be Mechanon. Thanks.
  3. Re: Mystic Superheroes Just off the top of my head DC John Constantine, Tim Hunter, Klarion the Witch Boy. They are technically a part of the DC Universe.
  4. Re: Your Character's Comic Book For my main character,Plex twin 2 would want Grant Morrison to write and Dave McKean to draw. The group Plex is in is almost like the Doom Patrol from the Morrison years, so that would definately fit right in. Plex twin 2 would also want it to be a team book so everyone can share in the hopeful success of the comic. The artwork of Dave McKean would definately give it the correct atmosphere. Plex twin 1 would want Keith Giffen and DeMatteis to write and draw the book. The Plex twins would be the Blue Beetle and Booster Gold of the group. Plex twin 1 would also want it to be a group book, but the focus would be on their antics, though not the only focus.
  5. Re: Marvel Character Hero System Writeups Has anyone ever seen a write-up for Doctor Strange and et all? I've been looking for one, but hav not found one yet. I always have a hard time trying to make-up mystical characters.

    Find weakness

I'm developing an NPC for my game that is the preemminent doctor for superpowered beings and looking for a way to define his surgical skill. I want him to be able to operate if needed on anyone and the only way I can think to do this is with the Find Weakness ability but add the limitiation that it can only be used with the surgical/medical skills. Since I don't have my book with me, I can't remember if this is legal and if it is, what the total limitation would be. The NPC not superpowered with anything other than this ability, though he does have a boat load of skills. Any help here would be appreciated, even if it adds super abilities. Thanks...
  7. Re: What are you working on? Creating my universe for my Champions and my horror campaign. I'm not yet sure if I will have both of them on the same world or not, though. (I'm leaning towards keeping them different and apart.)

    The Brat Pack

Re: The Brat Pack I liked this back when it came out years ago, but have not read it since then. I had always taken it to be a parady of the superhero genre, albeit a dark and twisted one. I actually found the public/fan vote to kill off Jason Todd much more disturbing than this series. I found absolutely nothing humourous about that. I tried to read the Maximortal, but could not get into it at all. I pretty much found it to be contrived and appallingly boring.
  9. Re: Young Nerd Outreach Program I think I may have helped propigate the game nerds locally in my area. I recently started up a fantasy game and a couple of the pc's brought their sons with them to introduce them to the game. (I believe the 2 kids are right around 13) The kids liked it so much that they introduced it to their friends and now there's this large group of kids running around with game books sticking out of the backpacks.
  10. Re: What would your character LIKE TO do? Plex twin #1 would like to prank the world. Plex twin #2 wants to see what would happen to twin #1 if he pulled off the world prank.
  11. This was my first original character from the mid 80's and I think my GM let me get away with something that might not have been legal in the game rules. I want to update this character for use as an NPC, but I want him to be correct. Here's the background: The character is a set of identical twins who have the ability to combine into one powerful character, a brick. The way this was originally done was through duplication and with the limitation only "1 copy" ever, though the copy was already made in the form of their identical twin. If the twin died, the power was useless. (Which did happen in the long run of the campaign, but that is another story.) When they combined, they also had growth linked with the duplication. If knocked out while combined, they separated. Even when separated, they have super powers- just not as big and powerful. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if more info is needed. Thanks
  12. Re: WWYCD? #108 (I think)- Clash of the Titans Plex : The twins run around the city trying to keep people/buildings/ animals from getting damaged/ harmed/etc... Get emergency help for those who have been injured, or take them to the hosipital if it's really bad. Hope that someone at the base can figure out where atleast one of the villians are located so that some type of assault can be planned to stop this madness.
  13. Re: WWYCD #110- Dark Guardian Plex : Danger sense didn't go off, must be my imagination... must stop watching late night spooky shows like x-files and twilight zone. Turn on the wrist communicator and contact the only Mystic of the group, Mordred, and tell him whats going on anyways. Convince the family that it would be in their best interest to bring the girl to their base for "tests just in case". Prepare himself for the worst and figure that the entity will probably come out long before they get to the base or even leave the house. Call back to the base via communicator and request back-up. Then start herding the family towards the door.

    Wwycd #109

Re: Wwycd #109 Plex: "Sorry, but I have a contract with Crest toothpaste. You don't recognize me from my commercial?" Smiles widely and the white, gleeming teeth blinds the agent momentarily. "Of course, I wasn't the only superhero in that particular commerical."
  15. I'm pretty sure this villian came from an early Champions suppliment, but I cannot remember anything but the villians name, which was Jean Green. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
  16. I was just wondering why there wasn't a "GM Only" topic section set aside for the Hero system and its genres? It would be a great help for those of us who are looking for help with a campaign or whatever. I know that the section couldn't be limited to just GM's and that it would have to be an on your honor section. It takes a long time to search through all the threads and gets frustrating after awhile trying to weed out the rants from the truly useful information.
  17. Re: Code VS Killing Poll I tend towards the first listing with my characters. I always feel that my heroes should be better than the villians they fight. I did have one character who accidentally killed a villian. (He did not know the villian took 2x stun and body with the attack he was using.) Due to his code vs killing he quit using the power that killed the villian and eventually gave up suerheroing because of his always second guessing on how strong to make an attack and the mental anguish it was causing him that he had actually killed someone. (He was a doctor in his secret id and eventually just became the team doctor. There was also a really long trial in which he was aquitted.) I don't always choose a code vs. killing for my characters, but when I don't I always go with the 2nd listing. I might try to play a character with the last listing, but haven't tried as of yet.
