  1. Re: Loyalty To Ziandwyrth Take this Rep, brother, may it serve you well. Now how about the way that the undead respond to a non-necromatic follower of a Red God like Ziandwyrth? I don't know why it's important to me to know, but it is. I picture him maybe having an influence over them making them stand still gaping and moaning at him while he tells them jokes that they don't get or respond to. (Talk about a dead audience... ba-dum BAH!) Maybe I'm having waaaay too much fun with this concept.
  2. Re: Loyalty To Ziandwyrth Good stuff! Repped! The fact that he's a (classically stern, dour, tempermental) dwarf with actual humor could be humorous too... in an awkward overcompensating way.
  3. Re: Loyalty To Ziandwyrth I'm not really soliciting mechanics, it's more of a philosophical thread. I don't really need help in the 'how to do this' department... but thanks for your comments.
  4. Re: Loyalty To Ziandwyrth Again, true... and I think that was Steve's intent, but the core of the issue is what would his priests and paladins be about and how would it fit into the common role-playing tropes? In one light a 'Paladin of the Lord of Chaos' would be the classic 'Anti-Paladin' but in addition to the negative foil for a 'good paladin' there are elements here like luck and humor that might get one out of the mired old 'black armored death machine' archetype. At least as I'm thinking of it.
  5. Re: Loyalty To Ziandwyrth Very true... As a matter of fact one of my favorite sayings is: "If somebody falls down, and you don't laugh, then you weren't paying attention..." And 'Good Humor' should be covered by Leche, the God of Dairy Products, anyway. (ba-dum BAH!)
  6. I was writing up a dwarven paladin to Ziandwyrth (TA Lord of Chaos, but also the god of luck, chaos, humor and madness) and I got on an interesting thought process surrounding how one would worship such a diety. He is considered an 'evil' god relative to the Blues and Grays, but how can the god of humor be 'evil'? So would a priest of Ziandwyrth be like Jerry Seinfeld trying to say a Catholic Mass? I would expect goofing-off and even disrespect (roasting) of Ziandwyrth to be in order during the service. What a neat concept. How would a Paladin of Ziandwyrth act? He would go about sowing and reaping chaos from law-abiding towns, no? How would the undead respond to his 'Turning' power? (I didn't even bother buying 'Turn Undead' for him.) It's fun to think about... Your thoughts?
  7. Re: A Self-Replicating Virus? I've had this problem before too. How would you simulate 'Sticky' using strictly 'Trigger' rules? 'Sticky' seem redundant in this light. I'm sure that you're already satisfied with your build but just let me throw in my two cents... As far as the virus goes, if it's mental maybe stat up a One-Mind/Hive enemy and have the Trigger activate a Mind Link, then you can assault the victim with Mind Control or whatever other nastiness you have going on in that awesomely creative head of yours. Over a relatively short amount of time you could have a good horde of zombie-followers that mimic a truer 'virus outbreak'. I don't have my books in front of me but Mind Link should allow you to do this, yes? No?
  8. Re: dark champions from each of the 50 states Michigan's can be 'The Sportsman' who has a hunting motif, but since there are a few gun-toting heroes listed already I submit the following: The Lakesman (amphibious guardian of the Great Lakes) or Motorhead (for the auto industry, an auto-themed gadgeteer)
  9. Re: Is 5er Still On Its First Printing? Aha, that explains why I was able to finally use some of my XPs to raise my DEX... Hero mechanics are now the center of the world! Thanks man!
  10. Re: Is 5er Still On Its First Printing? So when you dropped 5er did it crash through the floor and stop or just keep on going?
  11. Re: THE ATLANTEAN AGE: What Do *You* Want To See? I really like the concept of the recent cartoon StormHawks where they subtly ignore all forms of electronics in place of power crystals (much like you're suggeting with the mystical properties of the o-material). Although electronic devices are curiously absent, they still have advanced mechanics, anti-grav, motorized vehicles and power-gem-enhanced weapons. There's monsters to battle, bad guys to thwart and a dark empress bent on destroying the status quo. I would like to see an 'advanced mechanics-without electronics' concept built in, or at least a side note as to the potential. Maybe you're going in a different direction but I can also see application to this in the other Fantasy Hero realms, like as a specialty for gnomes for example.
  12. Re: Soul Calibur I call Cervantes! (of course I haven't played since the first Soul Caliber...) My friend used to be Siegfried with his over-phallic sword and I would drive him insane by using Cervantes' double-sword button-mash moves that I had no idea how to repeat. Good times... good times... good rpg? I'll let the jury decide.
  13. Re: Turakian Age's Henotheism I don't think that it's 'inaccurate' to call it 'henotheism'. Priests and people tend to select a favorite patron diety to worship without discrediting or insulting the others. For example, druids worship Alamandre without ignoring Hornbrek, Bandaro or Kilburn's influences over nature. So the 'other gods' aren't just 'accepted', they're revered. Most priests and commoners just happen to favor one above the others (usually with a reason... sailors for example would tend to worship Saaltus). Sorry if I got my gods mixed up, I'm going off of memory here. Of course, it seems that this religeous methodology was also displayed by the ancient Romans and Greeks (as you probably well know, my good Dr, joining us from Rome).
  14. Re: Wasteland Hero, 10 Years After Threadus Ressurecti! ...and now the Rat has his own copy of Post-Apocalyptic Hero. I shall once again turn to summoning the Four Horsemen! Muahahahaha [cue Metallica's 'Four Horsemen']
  15. Re: End Of Year Blowout Sale! Here's a suggestion: Can you start adding links to Ghost-Angel's reviews on each product? That would be mighty helpful!
  16. Re: Laser Gunship Revealed What would be the beam's diameter? Seems like there would need to be a rastering attack of pulses forming a pattern... much like using an eraser to wipe out pencil marks on a page. The power would have to be impressive to effectively melt anything in the 'pass-by window' that the plane's velocity would have. The whole method of flying these lasers in might have to be reconsidered. Obviously the unit is currently too heavy for a helicopter, but that would be a perfect delivery vector. Sorry, just thinking too loud, I really want to see this thing in action though! No collateral damage = good Too much time spent on destroying a single target = not so good Hitting the gas tanks of vehicles would give the same collateral damage as a grenade or maybe even a bomb. Punching holes in defenses would be good, but as an offensive weapon the laser might be impractical. Maybe I'm thinking about it too hard... you can take the boy out of the physics field but you can't take the physics out of the boy.
  17. Re: End Of Year Blowout Sale! Enchanted Items... check Ultimate Energy Projector... check Post-Apocalyptic Hero... check It's like I got EI for free! And I'll get a bonus book as well. KA-CHING and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME! (...yes I said the MC words, so sue me). Have a Holly-Jolly Christmas in fact!

    Genie

Re: Genie Specific Being should be a +1, if not then you could potentially pull any air-elemental out of that bottle... but that could be fun as well (for the GM anyway)!

    Genie

Re: Genie Sounds like you might want to re-consider Summon instead. Personally I wouldn't allow Limitations on a Perq, but I can't find any rulings against it (I didn't look too hard). I would be concerned with putting all of my points into this Independent Focus and then finding that the first band of brigands that I came across being relentless to deprive me of it... and we all know how popular brigands are in the typical Fantasy setting. YMMV, but just things to consider. Summon also gives you the advantage to increase the 'Loyalty' ranking of the Genie, whereas Followers (like all Perqs) tend to come and go as they please. If you order the Genie to do something that he is opposed to doing, not in the mood to do, or even willing to do for his own personal gain then you'll have to Persuade or Bribe him to get it done. This could be overcome with a Disad 'Slavishly Loyal to [Character]' though. In essence, though, maybe you should consider building the Genie as the primary character and the 'weaker character' as the 'Follower', it might make a lot more sense on paper and you wouldn't have to deal with these issues. But be careful, since the 'weaker' Follower could change roles depending on who held the bottle. You could tidy this up with a specific Character name with regards to the Loyalty Disad.
  20. Re: Falling Asleep While On Watch We have a winner! Repped and I owe you another for the research. I knew it had to be somewhere in the Hero literature. Nice job!
  21. Re: Falling Asleep While On Watch Hmm. Interesting take on the PS: Soldier. Thanks!
  22. Re: Falling Asleep While On Watch Prepare to be my test subject for this mechanic, Lieutenant!
  23. Re: Falling Asleep While On Watch BODY may be a good one too, but it's another static stat roll. It would probably be easier just to do something like a EGO Roll + CON complimentary roll and then make a modifications chart for longevity and circumstantial penalties.
