  2. Re: Alien Wars: DropZone PBP I tried to do a search but my Google-Fu roll failed me. Have any good links? Thanks for the suggestions, BTW!
  3. Howling Commandos in Space! Hey everyone I'm looking for some cool 'legendary squadron' names that are half-WWII throwback names and half young-Space Era names. I'm planning to run an Alien Wars game (so far I call it 'DropZone') in the near future and just want a grunt-heavy familiar feel to spice up the newness of the space marine theme. Any ideas? So far I've come up with these: "The Swords of Mars" (kind of hate/love this one) "Solar Hawks" (sounds more like the Thundercats knock-off... SilverHawks) "Solar Furies" Right now I'm thinking that these all stink. Any help? I'd like to hear what you all think of a "Sgt. Fury vs. Aliens" game, too. If you have any ideas or advice then I'm all ears.
  4. Re: Swimming, snake-like robot My hand hovered over the EMP button for a second there... How long before they put eight of those snake 'arms' on a central processing hub and set it loose to find Zion?
  5. Re: Go For Papa Palpatine... Awesome. Here's Steve Oedekerk's (Kung Pow, Jimmy Neutron, etc.) homage... using thumbs with faces on them. I have his stuff on DVD. Shame on you if you haven't seen this before, but for those of you who have yet to enjoy it here it is: 98% clean, just a few baudy parts. I can't believe they put most of the thing on YouTube (there are some parts clipped from the original). "...and you must be... the CryBaby..."
  6. Re: Attuning to Magic Items How about treating magic items like normal weapons? Straight -3 to any applicable roll unless they by a 'Magic Item Familiarity' skill at 3 pts per item. That way they can only work on 'attuning' to it via experience (points). You could even scale the MIF cost up by an AP/10 rule or some such deal... the nice part about this is that they can ONLY 'buy' it by using XPs which should take a while under the standard HERO awards model, it just won't take them forever to do so. I haven't field tested this yet, but I have been meaning to try it once I get time to run another game. Just my $0.02.
  7. Re: Tuala Morn in Online Store Only if you were European. I'm sure Africans would find that easier to get a grip on it. The husk of the matter is that I wasn't handing you a line.
  8. Re: Tuala Morn in Online Store You just have to look for them once the migration season starts. They are migratory... aren't they? Coconuts I mean. Or were you talking about Honesty and Empathy? Like that song from Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder?
  9. Re: Tuala Morn in Online Store There are two weapons that will banish the lawyer (perhaps more)... Mutual Understanding and Unconditional Forgiveness. But, lo, these days are dark and the power of these great wards is all but lost to these lands.
  10. Re: Fantasy Zero You can still use the Turakian Age with the Greyhawk Map. Hierax had a Greyhawk Hero site, the link should be around somewhere (QM? LL?). Although you might have to explain why Mr. Curtis' TA maps aren't good enough... EDIT: QM's list... Greyhawk to Hero – aka Grey Hero http://www.hierax.com/hero/fantasy/grey/ Discussion: http://herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6534 This campaign sounds fun. I'm sure you need a lot of patience and a lot of player-to-player-to-GM history (read: trust) to really pull it off. I can just imagine how this 'minimalist approach' pulls the group to work together more. I would want to witness it just to see how people squeeze the living hades out of every precious point! Great idea! Duly repped!

  13. This can't be the first time that this has been posted but I laugh and laugh and laugh every time I see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGwBqqeJKMI "What the heck is an Aluminum Falcon?" Funny funny funny... Here's another that's pretty good. Caution, there is some foul language afoot in it... and it can get a bit vulgar in one or two parts so keep the kiddies away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS1M-wwlNi4 Enjoy!
  14. Re: Divide by Three In all fairness, KS, I don't think anyone is approaching this for universal acceptance. The OP requests people's opinions on the use of the divide by 3 rule based off of their experiences. Just like in everything else Hero-related, munchkinism has to be avoided so if that's a threat to the campaign then the divide by three rule shouldn't be used. It's all about one's preference as a GM.
  15. Re: Divide by Three You might find this thread useful MT... instead of posting my thoughts I'll just refer you to my post therin. Divide By 3 Discussion 2006
  16. Re: Who would play this? "Car Hero" "Touch Those Tanks And BOOM.": Electronics 12- Wouldn't this be Demolitions?
  17. Re: Good Zombie flicks I agree with Dr. Mid-NITE (plus I'm a Detroit-boy too so naturally we have to stick together...). Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things is   five rotting thumbs up. I saw it when it was on the old 'Sir Graves Ghastly' show (Saturday Afternoons in Detroit) when I was like 10. Talk about a movie that stuck with me... sheesh. Not even Night of the Living Dead was as scary as that one at the time. Here you go, try these and look under the movies section: http://www.allthingszombie.com http://www.homepageofthedead.com Coming soon: Night of the Living Dead 3-D (it's been postponed for quite a while now) Slither should be out on DVD soon Saw 'Undead'... funny, but I'm in the 1% who actually liked it 'Dead and Breakfast' was campy fun, not really zombies but demons they call 'zombies'. Deitrich Bader and Porche DiRossi make 2 minute cameos. David Carridine is in it too! I could go on... but I won't. Every October I dedicate my Netflix queue to zombie flicks. 'Dead Alive' and 'The Gate' get honorable mentions as do 'Demons' and 'Cemetary Man'. Stay far away from 'House of the Dead' and it's Sci-Fi dreck sister 'House of the Dead 2'. I'll see ANY zombie movie once but those I only needed to see once. See 'Zombie Holocaust' and 'Zombie Island' instead. And see 'Zombi' just for the ocular trauma scene alone. There's a few newer B-rates that I currently have in my Netflix list that I am only sort of looking forward too: "Hood of the Dead" and "Dead Meat" to name a few.
  18. Re: Real Life Egyptian Tomb Adventure! Update: Meh, we didn't go in. Found more interesting ghost tours to spend the money on. God good pics of the Omni-Park Hotel, the scene of the Boston Massacre and the apartment of the last Boston Strangler victim though. Overall, Boston sure does not disappoint for gaming ideas, location flavor and seafood! Sorry to disappoint...
  19. Re: "The sign reads 'Beware of the Grax..." "If the Grax attacks It wouldn't be lax And if the Grax lays back It may not attack Its endurance is taxed From the towns it sacks It's power is a-wax Thus attacks the Grax..." Sir Seuss (right before he was eaten)
  20. Re: TA Question: The Sunset Islands I recently had some players sail northward between them and Vestria and I honestly couldn't find anything official on them... so I planted a Troll shaman and his brood of Spirit Hawks there. It's one of those places that Mr. Long, in his wisdom (or his exhaustion) left open for GMs to tailor to their own needs. FH Battlegrounds doesn't really commit the 'modules' within to any place. There are strong suggestions, but the adventures tend to be specific locales that could fit into almost any realm. FHB isn't any help on the Sunset Islands. It would be a great place for pirates, or a 'barbarian' outpost for Kal-Turak's march southward. Heck, put an obscure Temple there and make an adventure about escorting a zealous druid there where the mystic energies crest during the sunset hours. In brief, though, O Hermit, no I couldn't find nuttin' on it either.
  21. Re: NOBLES, KNIGHTS, AND NECROMANCERS -- What Do *You* Want To See? Oops, that's right. Hey, at least I remembered him. Can't remember my own zip code sometimes but I remember Stronghammer the Dwarf from Enemies III. Isn't it nice how the brain works? Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my updated write-up of The Green Knight. PS, BobG... that's actually not a bad idea once I stop laughing about it. A fantasy-era version of CC would definately have to be in cahoots with the gnomes... I kind of like the idea.

  23. Re: TA: Wizards and Armor Ahhhh... so the wacky tobaccy just made him feel invulnerable. Finally, I understand! I think it would take something more powerful (cough... PCP... cough) to shrug off a crossbow bolt though. (just trying to getthe thread back onto the armor track)
