  1. Re: Irreducible Damage Attacks against unusual defense get reduced like everything else if the Damage reduction is resistant.
  2. Looking at your response to the UAA AE Noncombat, would your answer be the same for a Teleport UAA AE Megascale since it is considered as noncombat or could it work since it is based on combat movement? Here are the questions again: I have a couple of questions on this: 1) do you pay the end at the beginning of the action or after the extra phase? 2) if you are stunned or knocked out does the teleport still activate after the set time? 3) if you are using it on others, do the people need to remain in the area of effect for the whole time, at the beginning, or at the end (i.e. does the to-hit "lock")? Thanks for the clarification on this.

  4. I have a similar construct and I was puzzled by one thing: the additional mass limitation. If I have purchased a Teleport with UAA and AE (Radius), do I . . . 1) have to purchase extra mass for all the people in the AE via Teleport? 2) have to purchase the increased advantage for extra mass in UAO? 3) need to worry about its effect on people with density increase or does it work the same regardless of the "victim"'s mass? I apologize if I missed a clarification in the rules, but it seems confusing to me. Thanks.

  6. Re: Meet the Protectors I'll add more sessions as I can. Do you want more profiles of the characters (as far as the public would know)? We're up to issue 21 now.
  7. Steve, I was reading your reply about the High Strength low HA question, and I find myself confused (yet again). On August 11, 2005, you stated that the explanation on p. 408 5ER was incorrect. Here is my current understanding so you can correct me: 1) When you have an advantaged HA, you divide the Strength by the sum total of the advantages (excluding reduced endurance). Thus, in the previous example of a STR 70 character with a bunch of 1d6 HA with assorted advantages. He would do DC(70/1.5)+1 = 10d6 AP, DC(70/1.75)+1 = 9d6 DKB, etc. 2) If you use martial arts in conjunction with an advantaged HA, the damage from the martial arts just adds on top of the total. If the guy from (1) had martial arts he would do 12d6 AP with a martial strike and 14d6 AP with an offensive strike and 11d6 DKB with a martial strike and 13d6 DKB with an offensive strike 3) Is there an extra limitation that the amount of strength which may be added to the Hand Attack is equal or less than the active points of the Hand Attack before advantages? In (1), the guy would only be able to add 1 damage class to the attack, but to do this for armor piercing would require 7.5 Strength. 4) Final example to be clear A character in Champions with a 3d6 HA AVLD (power defense) 0 End, 20 strenth, and applicable martial arts. Hits someone with his attack using martial strike. Does he do a) 8d6 AVLD (3 HA+3 (15 Str) +2 (MS)) Costs 1 END 6d6 AVLD (3 HA+DC(20/2.5)=1 (STR) +2 (MS)) Costs 2 END c) 4d6 AVLD (1 HA (Restricted by Str) + +DC(20/2.5)=1 (STR) +2 (MS)) costs 2 END Thanks for the patience
  8. Protectors #2 The French Connection Fusion, Supercop, and Templar investigate the comic book convention hall after arranging for Baby Hugey to be incarcerated at the base's headquarters. The team discovers that Baby Hugey appeared out of thin air at a vendor's booth selling animation cells. Reviewing the footage of security cameras, a man appears to be arguing with the booth's occupant a few moments before Baby Hugey appears. Fusion, Supercop, and Templar split up to try to find animation cells containing Baby Hugey or a lead to who created Baby Hugey. While the heroes search for a lead, a series of bank robberies are perpetrated by an animated cat who uses a large bag to supply him with a variety of weapons to accomplish his robberies. Templar contacts Roger Ebert regarding rare animation characters. Roger Ebert recalls an old animation movie containing Baby Hugey. Templar obtains a copy of the film and the team proceeds to watch it. The film consists of several chracters that are an amalgam of other cartoon characters: Baby Hugey, Henri le Cat, Master Mouse, Jasper the Dead Toddler, Marvin Marvell, Daffyskrull. The heroes discover the movie was produced by Roger Smith. The heroes rush to Roger Smith's address and discover a waiting Henri le Cat. Fusion manages to subdue Henri. Once the heroes transport, Henri back to the base. They discover that Roger Smith has been summoning his creations against their will. Henri was committing the bank robberies in exchange for Roger Smith returning him home. Henri explains that he wants to return home to continue to lead the French resistance against the Nazi's and their leader, Master Mouse. He explains that he has the Green Moon Cheese that renders Master Mouse powerless. Supercop informs the team she must resign her membership due to the conflicts between her work as a police officer and a superhero. Once SHIELD is informed of Henri's presence at Heroes Inc. base, Nick Fury arrives and questions Henri for several hours. When he is finished, Nick demands that Henri is released to his custody. The heroes agree, but demand that Henri gives them the Green Moon Cheese in case Master Mouse is on the loose in Chicago. Henri agrees and Henri and Fury leave the base. As the heroes ponder their next steps, the begin to receive reports of cats being dismembered in the Skokie area.
  9. Protectors #1 Someone old, someone new, someone wanted, someone blue! A long line of pseudo-heroes and would be heroes snakes outside a renovated warehouse. Templar, mystic knight, approachs realizing here is an opportunity to gain allies in his fight against evil. As he follows the line, he notices Fusion, the nuclear powered bad attitude. Templar recognizes Fusion as a wanted criminal. When he points this out to L.B. Mann, sponsor of this new hero team, L.B. mentions that was a misunderstanding and Fusion has been cleared by SOLDIER. After a preliminary interview, Templar is accepted onto the team and meets his new partner, Fusion. As Templar adjusts to this new partnership, he discovers that a major mystical event is going to occur over the Hancock building. Templar informs Fusion and the two of them rush to the building during the appointed hour. As they wait, Sekhmet, ancient goddess of life and death, arrives drawn by the mystical convergence. As they watch, a dimensional rift opens up and a mystical hand, grabs Sekhmet. As Fusion attempts to free Sekhmet, an unconscious and mind-wiped Japanese mutant hero known as Green Shadow comes through the rift. Fusion and Templar proceed to keep the unconscious Green Shadow away from the vengeance-driven Sekhmet. Once Templar and Fusion succeed in evading Sekhmet, they return to the base and examine Green Shadow. The following day, Fusion and Templar meet a third applicant to the team tenatively known as Heroes Inc., Supercop. Fusion decides to check out the local comic book convention and Templar and Supercop tag along. The heroes quickly lead the duck outside the convention center and manage to sedate the beast, who is known as Baby Hugey. The heroes a left pondering how Baby Hugey appeared at the convention hall and who set the simplistic creature on his rampage

  11. 1) "Cloud men's minds" - I am thinking of some sort of field which lowers character's EDCV and Perception rolls to reflect a reduction in their mental acuity. I was thinking of Change Environment, but it doesn't allow for -ECV. Negative penalty skill levels AE seems a little cludgy. Any other ideas? 2) Prayer to St. Jude - How would you add/subtract from opponents activation rolls? Transform seems like overkill especially for a power which needs to be maintained and costs END like a suppress. Any ideas?
  12. Hello, I'm just starting a new thread to log the current Champions campaign from a PC's perspective. To start off, I am going to give a quick thumbnail of the members of the team, the Protectors. Based out of Chicago, formed by L.B. Mann, the Protectors fight for truth, justice, and the bottom line. Actually, we're still negotiating that part. Currently, the team consists of 1) Celestia, technologist extraordinaire, team leader, villains fear the might of her power armor 2) Fusion, nuclear-powered punk, he lost his memories and received his powers while falling into a nuclear reactor. He has the experience, martial arts, and toughness to face down everyone from the Absorbing Man to Wolverine 3) Templar, mystic warrior, he combines ancient relics and magic with modern knowledge to find evil and smite it.

  15. Re: Vehicle DEX The fighter isn't hard to hit if the pilot's DEX is lower than either vechile's DEX. But if it is , Mr. Fighter Pilot is not going to be that good at getting the bulldozer out of the way of an incoming attack than he would with the fighter. Vechile DEX is a quick mechanic to account for the vechile's responsiveness. You can also always you the velocity based DCV option.
  16. Re: I could watch him get slapped around all day Here's my list: 1) Doomsday/Bane/Other Stupid Characters specifically created to radically alter character for no apparent reason - Please take a number for your beating - No you don't get to jump to the head of the line 2) Wolverine/Punisher/Lobo/Any other unstoppable killing machine - gee, how many times do you have to tell me he's the best at whatever - its like reading a Madden broadcast 3) The Authority - although soliloquoies take zero time - for you guys I am going to make an exception 4) Superman - gee, I have a whole variety of powers, but I'll just fight to the death hand to hand with a one trick villain 5) Batman - I am loner and don't work well with teams - well except little boys I dress in bright colors - it works so well when we hide in shadows I'm sure I can think of others later.
