  1. Well, there is that dimensional rift in Centralia. . .
  2. Sanguine is synonymous with bloody, according to my Thesaurus. Perhaps you could call him The Sanguine King. As for powers, I could see him having Clinging--he can flow in any direction, over any surface, including liquid. Another Mind Control aspect for his powers could be that his blood acts like the negatively charged slime from Ghostbusters II--anyone sprayed with his blood becomes Berserk and attacks the nearest individual, first verbally, then physically. Hope that helps.
  3. I thought most if not all of the right-wingers had left these boards some time ago, when it became evident that the invasion of Iraq was a mistake. I know it's been quite a while since Seenar and Thrakazogg have posted anything. The closest I've seen to right-wingers posting lately were the posts objecting to Clinton as the 2016 Democratic candidate for President--but even those have become non-existent after it became clear what an even greater mistake it was to elect Trump. I'm sorry you're feeling threatened here, Doctor. that should not be happening to you, or anyone else.
  4. I think the lead role was written for Jackie Chan, but they gave it to Michelle Yeoh instead. Which turned out really well for all concerned--especially the audience.
  5. Looks like there's enough cheese on there for a dozen pizzas.
  6. DC Heroes (also known as the Mayfair Exponential Game System (MEGS)) has something similar--you roll 2D10 and if you roll doubles, you get to keep rolling and add up the total. UNLESS--you roll double ones. Then it doesn't matter how well you rolled before--you will have FAILED. With a capital F and a capital AILED.
  7. Actually, I think smoke should do it--put it in a metal box hooked up to a wood stove, then just suffocate the buggers. Then you can remove the nest without damaging the statue.
  8. Shin Ultraman A giant in red and silver. A warrior of light from beyond the stars. In our time of greatest need, he comes swiftly to our aid. He--is Ultraman. I had high hopes for this movie, and it did not disappoint. I was a fan of the original Ultraman in 1966, and this is a reimaging of that series, compressed into about two hours. The SSSP (Science Patrol in the American dub of the series) doesn't have the fancy weapons and vehicles of the original, but they seem to get along without them. I liked the actors in the movie, especially Masami Nagasawa, who plays Hiroko Asami new to the SSSP from Japan's intelligence service. (I find her quite fetching, and I shall have to learn more about her.) One of the first sites I found on the internet when I joined online with my little WebTV set was Wayne Koizumi's Absolute Ultraman. It had just about everything you could know about every Ultraman series and movie made, and then some. I was so disappointed when he took the site down--it was like a longtime friend had moved away. I hope he's well, and liked this movie as much as I did. This movie has a two-night showing in American theaters--last night was a subtitled version, and tonight's will be dubbed in English. If there is any movie that is best appreciated by seeing it in the theater, it is this one. I'll be there tonight, and I hope you will, too. The movie at IMDB
  9. Astronauts Stranded At International Space Station There is a plan to rescue them--let us all hope it succeeds.
  10. Good to have you back. Everyone's happy to see you. Can't you tell?
  11. Not unlike James Bond. More than a few of his movies had a scene where he was clobbered from behind by surprise. I remember a Captain America story where he and Bucky took on an early version of the Ringmaster and his Circus Of Crime--only this being in the early 40s, they were all Nazis. There's a fight scene where Captain America is winning, and then the circus strongman knocks him out from behind. "Vhen I hit dem, they stay hit! Und Captain America is no exception!" You woulda thought Cap would wear a helmet from that point on, but guess not. . .
  12. The rebuttal to that, I think, is Czar Nicholas II. As I understand it, he didn't particularly want to be Czar, he wasn't trained very well for the job, and consequently wasn't very good at it, to the point that he crashed the entire Czarist regime. Maybe it would have survived without the First World War, but with an heir who would have to beat very long odds to live into his twenties, that doesn't seem likely. I do think that to be a good leader, one must want the job and work for the job. But what is more important is that one must care enough about the people and the community they wish to serve to be an effective leader and act in their best interest. And it is important that leaders think of themselves as servants, rather than masters, to have the humility to think of themselves as still one of the people, rather than set themselves above them. I don't believe Trump had that humility, or that he cared enough about the nation and her people--and I think Melania expressed that lack of humility in that particular choice of outerwear. And I'm mostly certain that none of the more vocal Republicans care enough about the nation and her people, either. They just care about being in charge.

The Legend--The Genius--Charles Addams If you need an image for an NPC, be it a sinister doctor, a mob guy, or a detective, private or otherwise--you could hardly do better.
  14. That sounds about right. Back then all you needed to fight crime was a cape, a mask, and a solid left hook. And some heroes didn't even need the cape and the mask-- You can feel that punch across state lines. For the record, I will mention that there were a few grossly overpowered characters in the Golden Age. Stardust The Super Wizard is one such character, as is Master Mystic. DC's The Spectre is Golden Age as well, and seemed to have whatever powers he needed for the task at hand. Again--hope that helps.
  15. The International Catalogue Of Superheroes is an excellent resource for Golden Age Superhero characters, as is The Public Domain Super Heroes Wiki. Both have scores of heroes and villains alike which should give you an idea of what you want to make into a Golden Age Superhero. Hope that helps. Good Luck, and let us know how it goes.

  17. Doggone it--this wasn't supposed to happen.
  18. Try telling that to the teacher who confiscated the copy you were hiding in your social studies textbook. Don't forget that MAD grew out of EC Comics, which was held up by Wertham and his dark disciples as the most egregious example of how comics were corrupting the youth of 1950s America.
