Malibu comics had as a basis for paranormals a San Francisco Cable Car full of people exposed to a white event.
Heroes, Villains, entire teams all from one origin.
"The Strangers" I think they were called. I really liked that comic , and I HATE Marvel for abandoning the Malibu characters after they absorbed the company.

One of my favorite "teenaged bricks" (or maybe she was pre-teen ) is "Princess" from "Zoom : Academy For Superheros".

I didn't read the whole post but what about "The fan" a boy (or girl) who is obsessed with supers in general (or just one in particular). He/she tries to find out everything about one (or more) of the city's heroes, turns up at events and pesters them, maybe has a blog or a newsletter about the characters that they are obsessed with and generally gets in the way at inconvenient moments.

At last someone that "Saint Barbara" can look down on ! Standing a statuesque five foot two inches she smiles benignly at the little girl (who probably outweighs her) described above.

The only part of Injustice I'd actually like to see is a buddy road movie starring Green Arrow and Harley Quinn.
Wouldn't Felicity get jealous ?

Obviously we see this matter differently. It is is a little bit surprising to me that you seem to be so vehemently anti Tesla. You may have perfectly good reasons for this, but I haven't seen anything to prove any of your assertions so I shall continue to give Tesla the credit that I think is his due. Merry christmas !

That article doesn't say that Tesla stole Ferrari's motor. Marconi stole some of Tesla's ideas for radio too and it has only been recently that Tesla has received any credit for his contributions. Simultaneous inventions do occur without theft as well, an example would be Edison and Swann inventing the incandescent electric light at about the same time on opposite sides of the Atlantic. I think that you are being too harsh in your judgement of Tesla.

Glenn Curtiss was, indeed, a great engineer and entrepeneur, but he never held the land speed record. He was timed at 136.36mph in a 1907 run at Ormond Beach, Florida, but lots of people were whizzing about tracks at high speeds at the time and claiming good times. That's why the "Land Speed Record" has rules, and adjudicators, and, from January 26, 1906 to November 6, 1909, by Fred Marriott, at 127.66mph, set in a Stanley Rocket.
Sorry to be a bit peevish here, but Curtiss' claimed land speed record is p.r. Swallowing it whole is bad for history of technology, and almost certainly very, VERY bad for technology policy. (To see me bring some real sunshine to the thread, ask me what I really think of Nikolai Tesla.)
Okay i'll bight. What is your beef with Nicola Tesla ?

Thank you for the explanation. Ever since watching Michael Moore's "Sicko" I have thought that the U S for profit health care industry was spectacularly unpleasant. Even assuming that Moore was indulging in hyperbole it sounded appalling. Trump says that he will replace Obamacare with "something better", the question is, will the healthcare lobbyists LET him ? (assuming that he was being serious when he said that of course).
-
I would be one as well, but in the end it's going to drive up health care costs for all of us. As it is the employer-provided insurance options at my work are so outrageously expensive that I was going to have to go over to Obamacare next year anyway.
Please excuse my ignorance (not being an American and all that) but WHY are your employer-provided options for health insurance so expensive ? Wouldn't the firm you work for want to keep its employees healthy, at an affordable price ?

That's where I do my reading as well - the actual collecting is too rich for my blood (and wallet).
Some of the one's I've been surprised by were the original Miss Fury (much more serialized than I ever thought likely for the period, with actual character growth and development), Captain Midnight (which I only knew through the serial of the same name), and, somewhat surprisingly for me, a number of the America's Best characters like the Black Terror.
Almost all of the stories from those characters adapt well as scenario ideas for Pulp Hero (Captain Midnight is more high-tech than the others).
"Miss Fury" is available in a hardcover collection published by "The Library Of American Comics", the same people who do "Terry And The Pirates".

I just listened to ACK ACK Macquace Which is a weird Combo of Cyberpunk Postsingularity Scifi Set on an alternate earth with Giant atomic Zepplins.
The Eponymous ACK ACK Macquace is the hero of a video game A One Eyed Cigar Chomping Twin Colt Weilding Fighter Ace Battling Nazi Ninjas And foo Fighters In A Battle Of Britiain That Never Ends.

It sounds silly but actually is a very deep story
There is at least one sequel to "Ack-ack Macaque" called "Hive Monkey". The author is Gareth Powell.

No, the money has never lined up for me to buy them, but it will eventually. I was lucky enough that my local university library had all of Robert Sampson's 'Yesterday's Faces' series so I've read all of them even if I only own the first two.
Pity. If you DO get more money to spend on Pulp reference in the future I suggest that "The Great Pulp Heroes" by Don Hutchison and "Master Of The Pulps : The Collected Essays of Nick Carr" edited by Ron Hanna may be worth going after.

Working my way through 'The Shadow in Review' by John Olsen. Review and plot summary of every Shadow novel, the serials, the 90's movie, and more. Available POD on Lulu for the insane price of $10.00. [Note: I have no connection to the project and receive no kickbacks... I'm just a nerd for this stuff.]

Do you have "Chronology Of Shadow" by Rick Lai, or his other pulp works such as "Chronology of Bronze", "Daring Adventurers" and "Criminal Masterminds" ?

I haven't read it yet, but I received as a christmas present a copy of "The WPA Guide To New York City", a 1992 reprint of a 1939 volume , over 600 pages of detail about the city. Oh yes, and happy St Barbara's day everybody !

Tron 2 was really good... Wait, what??? I really like the tv show Murdoch Mysteries. It's a murder mystery show set in late Victorian/early Edwardian Toronto. Good show.
I don't know if it has been shown where you are but "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" is worth a look (set in Melbourne, Australia in the 1920's) is another good Pulp crime detective show.

The cuter it looks, the more dangerous it is likely to be.

When you don't know what to do, smash something.
Whatever can explode will.
And things that CAN'T explode will also !

Eating Polar Bear can be tricky. Don't eat the liver ! (It has been suggested that eating polar bear liver is what killed members of the Nobile expedition after their airship crashed )

I think we should all take a moment to reflect on how far we've come as a nation, that we've finally elected our first orange president. And his pet tribble.
If by "pet tribble" you mean Trump's hairpiece. Are tou SURE that is all it is ? I'm thinking "mind control device" myself. Of course the question then is "who planted it ?" The Illuminati , the Russians, the New World Order ?

Is this the first time that the U S A will have had a Science Fiction writer (Newt Gingrich, alright "co-author") in cabinet ?
-
Has "Cast A Deadly Spell" been mentioned ? Horror/detective with a hero named Phil Lovecraft in a world where magic works, what's not to like ?
