  2. Re: Univeral Focus in 6E You want to look at breakability, page 379. A stolen focus is basically the same as a broken focus, other than the potential nature of the quest to recover an unbreakable focus.
  3. Re: The Galaxy With Two Supermassive Black Holes: Will They Trigger One of the Most V A supernova explosion is around 1.2e+44J, and might be dangerous at 75 light-years. At 750 million light-years it would need to be around 1e+58J to be a similar threat. 1 solar mass is 2e+30 kg or 1.8e+47 joules. Therefore, it would require an energy release of a billion solar masses to be a threat at this distance. In theory the energy yield of a black hole collision could be up to 40% of mass, but average is probably lower and it's likely those aren't both multi-billion stellar mass black holes, plus the energy may be mostly released as gravity waves (which won't have as much effect as EM waves) and over a longer time frame. Overall, then, it's probably not a threat, unless for some reason it produces a directional blast pointed at us.

  5. Re: Dropping Mini-Mines Orbital Cannon is very good if used right (it takes a couple seconds to activate, and several more seconds to actually hit, but it's got range 100 and high damage, so it's a good combat starter).

  8. Re: Poll On New Zones I've like to see new zones which actually change gameplay a bit, such as adjusting movement, but that's probably hard to implement.

Re: Abilities Discussion 2GM is a good power for power replacers; a 6.5% chance of a special is a lot more useful when you're making attacks every 0.5 seconds than when you're doing it every 2 seconds. Accelerated Metabolism might let you use 2GM pretty much constantly, at least when not blocking. If you don't have one, I'd strongly consider a block replacement slot. Given the character's style, retaliation (might) fits best, though in absolute terms another power might be better. A key feature of retaliation is that it's a damage boost on your next shot, so it's good to have a next shot does a single large hit. Frag Grenade and Rocket look appealing. Killer Instinct appears to be an unslotted power. Strongly consider something for your passive slot -- lightning reflexes isn't generally considered the strongest defensive passive, but it it's based on dexterity and fits your theme. One of the Focus buffs in martial arts, assuming they work with guns (unknown, I've never used them) would also have potential and could fit your theme.

    Re: I hate Gadroon So, I never tried the Gadroon missions pre-nerf. Post-nerf, they're still pretty mean (they like knockback, and being knocked back into an additional pull is not good), but not tougher than I'd expect for their level.

  14. Re: Abilities Discussion *cough*. Yes, some of the open missions really teach you the virtues of blocking. I think the first one where you're likely to being one-shotted if you don't block is Viper-X in A Bullet for Bisell, though he generally doesn't seem to go over 4k or so in one hit.

    Re: I hate Gadroon Haven't had too much trouble with Gadroon so far, though I've only done the two MC missions on them. Orbital Cannon works like a charm on them.

Re: Particle accelerator If you're curious, your average proton has 32 levels of shrinking (works out to 4.6e-10m, 1.26e-27 kg; actual mass is 1.6e-27 kg) plus 15 levels of shrinking (no mass reduction, +1/2) for a total cost of 327 points, or 538 points if Persistent 0 END. If instead you want to shrink into a black hole, a 100 kg black hole has a Schwarzchild radius of 1.48e-25m, which is roughly 83 levels of shrinking (no mass reduction) for 747 points, or 1120 points if Persistent.
  17. Re: Martial Arts and AOE My annoyance with the MA builds is that they're all click-happy; you're going to be pushing multiple buttons per second to be effective. They have a shortage of charged powers, sustained powers, high-energy attacks with cooldown, and other things that contribute to keeping click count down.
  18. Re: Champions with Linux Wouldn't dual-boot be easier? I've considered trying to run it in a VM, but there's always performance hits for doing that and CO is processor-heavy already.
