  1. Re: Master List of Distinctive Features I used to play an alien telepath, had no mouth, since he was siliconoid, when he mindlinked with ONE person, his "voice" had normal inflection and emotion. when he group-spoke or broadcast, the "voice" became monotone and boring.

  11. Re: YOUR FRIENDS: Cost You Points, or Get You Points? there ya go, almost everyone I know that costs me points, and then some who give me points. you have to be LEAVING the emotional end out of your list, cause some people you hate to see walk in the door really do you no harm per se. I assume a thread of "write yourself up in Champions" has been done to death, right? if you hadnt given me that disc, Desmarais, you would've been worth one less point on my sheet. if you werent in the champions game, you'd be worth zero points on the sheet

  13. Re: YOUR FRIENDS: Cost You Points, or Get You Points? I'll reply in depth later. I had no idea people would actually post names! Is lemming implying that his buddy is just SFX on his knowledge skills? kafka would be so proud !
  14. Re: Everybody's gots powers! maybe this is too obvious but I'll say it anyways, Piers Anthony's Xanth series had this idea: All citizens had SOME magic power. some could only change the color of their freckles, some could speak to birds, some could conjure storms. some could enter the fey realm. it wasnt equal, fair, or balanced at all. Kings and Queens had the most awesome powers of all. one major plot was the boy born with no power. if you had no power by the age of puberty you were banished. his power turned out to be an anti-magic shell, so it was totally inobvious, big misunderstanding.
  15. YOUR FRIENDS: Cost You Points, or Get You Points? In other words, think about your best friend Charlie. And, think about describing your life on a character sheet. Now where does Charlie fall? If he's helpful and useful, knowing him costs you a few points... ( contact, ally, summon, favors ) If he's an obnoxious or lazy dork, he cost you points: ( bad rep, dnpc or other social disad ) Well which is it? Is your buddy a net gain or net loss?
  16. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER If you can't write an origin story from this, stop playing Champions... Female mud dauber wasps are overtaking Hanford's H Reactor complex. The wasps are using radioactive mud from the site to construct nests beneath the eaves of buildings. Bechtel Hanford employees are attempting to remove the wasps from the site, but as fast as nests are removed, the wasps construct new ones. Detached nests are sent to the central Hanford low-level radioactive waste burial grounds. Bechtel workers are attempting to slow the proliferation of the wasps by adding insecticide to standing water in the spent fuel pool nd to any damp radioactive soil.
  17. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Every single ones got a story to tell Everyone knows about it From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell And if I catch it coming back my way Im gonna serve it to you And that aint what you want to hear But thats what I'll do And the feeling coming from my bones Says find a home Im going to Wichita Far from this opera for evermore
  18. Re: How do you feel about Superheroes that kill? well a superhero killed in our session a few weeks ago: Portus is a master of teleportation, and we're in a space-based game. He grabs a nasty villain (rad damage shield) and teleports himself and bad guy to deep oceans of Triton (moon of ). ALL of bad guys powers shut off in water, but Portus has full life support. Plus baddie had some susceptibilities to the alien environment. Bad guy lasted about 2 segments, as he was simultaneously frozen, squashed, poisoned, dissolved, and drowned. Nobody else (in game) knows wha happen. Portus said he was sorry. For all the other PCs knew the bad guy escaped, but Portus told them. Accident? not really. Murder? not really. Self-Defense? not really. very grey area. IMHO.
  19. Re: The Essential Bad Silver Age Blame the lawyers on this one. Comics must protect its intellectual properties. If a dead hero idea laid around too long, some punks could claim it. So we must rehash and republish eveything no matter how dead or how trite. Even Power-Pack

  21. Re: Speedster and Metamorphs:which are you looking forward to most? to be more specific and less emotional on my part: ways to do a transforming vehicle character that one could afford, that my GM would allow, etc.
  22. Re: Speedster and Metamorphs:which are you looking forward to most? please oh please oh please let the Metamorph book have a section on transforming vehicles (robots or characters)
  23. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER You know it's funky, funky, funky cause you heard it from hear-say A jammie that you love that don't be gettin no airplay Strictly for frontin when you're ridin around 12 o'clock at night with your windows down Headlights breakin cause your batteries drained Armor-All on your tires and a big gold chain Parkin outside of all the hip-hop spots Push the E-Q and play connect the dots HRRH Radio: AM/FM/Police (OAF Boom-Box)
  24. Re: CHARACTER: the dirt well if I build a legal elemental control I can't afford it inside 350 points.. I'll have to read up how to build a "resurrection to a particular spot" in hero. I probably don't have the "always on" simulated right either. didnt I say Truck driver somewhere?
  25. Re: Best way to promote Hero and attract new players I agree with you one hundred percent. Plus you gotta have cool gamers that are fun to hang out with. Number crunching boring ex-traveller geeks who worry about the hard numbers and rules are some baggage that Hero has to shed. Actual role-players would be great, especially if the game take place in public, like at your FLGS where you could entice new players with a cool game. ( Yeah Sidekick ! )
