Cancer got a reaction from L. Marcus in The Last Word
I would never complete this set-up. DEX 6 and so on.*
Might be amusing to compute the entropy in domino arrays and then examine probabilisticly what the largest array your DEX permits you a reasonable chance of completing rather than having a catastrophic failure during construction. A rather roundabout way of finding a conversion between DEX and energy, kind of, in HERO terms.
*EDIT: this leaves out the three feline chaos emitters I dwell with.

Cancer got a reaction from Duke Bushido in Intelligent Magic Swords
I haven't introduced selfwilled intelligent magic weapons in any of my campaigns, largely because I and everyone else in my group are really averse to anything that even hints at being able to override a player's control over their characters. And artifacts like that would almost certainly be contentious.
I was told of a campaign back during my wife's college days of two players, one of whom (the male) played an intelligent artifact sword, while the other (the female) played an intelligent artifact scabbard for that sword. While no explicit scenarios were related to me, the comment was, "The humor inherent to the situation was if anything worse than you might imagine."

Cancer got a reaction from Old Man in The cranky thread
With my daughter having flown out this morning, it occurred to me that I am living alone for the first time since fall 1990. Well, no other humans; there are three cats in the house which wasn't true way back when.

I know much more about this sort of thing than I wish I did, and it has a very familiar sound to it. My condolences.

Unfortunately, my uncle received the Last Rites earlier today. His cancer had spread. It was the chemo that destroyed his heart, which had up to then been healthy.

Cancer reacted to Ockham's Spoon in Jokes
A man was complaining about his life to his clergyman.
"I was a hard-working clerk making $30,000 per year. I was frugal, living carefully, saving my money, and I was happy and content.
Then one day I fell in with some shady characters and I got suckered into a high-stakes poker game. That was my ruin. Now I am anxious, stressed, and miserable."
The clergyman says "So you fell into temptation and lost all your savings?"
"No, I won, and like a fool I bought this lousy internet company."

The Face of Battle by John Keegan
This looks at military history and then at three specific battles, Agincourt, Waterloo and The Somme. It shows how big the battles were and how large were the forces involved. It also shows how warfare evolved in each case. The Somme covers the most as it is not a simple task to explain what happened and why. It is a fascinating read.

Cancer got a reaction from Pariah in Funny Pics II: The Revenge
One town I lived in had an extra car which they would leave parked in various places with a manikin in it. The called him "Officer D. Coy".
