  1. Re: Hero Central Down for?? Still down for me; nice to hear! I am prepared to game on by e-mail if necessary, but I sure hope not!
  2. Re: Announcement: The Monster Hunter International RPG! So...any day now, right? I really, really want this Kickstarter project to get funded!
  3. Re: 5th Ed. Help Do you have a game store nearby? If not, these guys are pretty much the standard for battle mats: http://www.chessex.com/mats/Battlemats_MegamatsReversible.htm
  4. Re: For anyone looking for the books...link to Baen Books. Also, Baen Books is currently running a promotion where you 'earn' free e-books from them playing their online game, "Planet Baen" which is alos free: http://planetbaen.com/
  5. The e-book format, by the way, is DRM free! http://www.baenebooks.com/c-108-monster-hunters-international-by-larry-coreia.aspx
  6. So, will this have a gun section and monster section of it's own or will it refer to the Hero System Equipment Guide (which has lots of things that go 'boom' up to and including nukes!) and the Bestiary? I am just curious; I am pretty sure I'd use the Equipment Guide and Bestiary to supplement in any case.
  7. Re: Announcement: The Monster Hunter International RPG! Very, very excited about this project! I was already gearing up with the 6e HSEG and Beastiary to try to do this, and am SO excited to have a ready made source book in my favorite game system!
  8. Re: Allen Thomas projects? I got an answer from Steve in another thread saying, no, he won't do Valdorian Age stuff...if he won't, and Allen Thomas cannot be found, who will do it for me! Oh noes! http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php/89712-TUALA-MORN-Interested-In-More-Stuff?p=2329906#post2329906
  9. Re: TUALA MORN -- Interested In More Stuff? The price would be right, so I'd put it on my list, but what I'd REALLY like would be a PDF covering some of the as yet unaddressed areas on the Valdorian Age map!
  10. Re: Allen Thomas projects? Absolutely! I would totally kick in for Valdorian Age 6e with a PDF and Hero Designer Pack! And more adventures and more books covering other regions in more detail...ah...to dream!
  11. Re: M44 offhand @ 500 yards Thanks! I'm loving the whole thread of conversations, but that was basically what I wondered about.
  12. Re: Allen Thomas projects? I haven't had the pleasure of perusing either of those, but I am coming around to the idea of just buying up everything Allen Thomas did for the Hero System!
  13. So just in game terms, what would I have to Skill and Stat the guy in the video to do this, assuming the numbers he gives are accurate? Of course, he is from Kentucky...so there's that.
  14. I have just noticed that a lot of my favorite Hero projects have been authored by Allen Thomas; does anyone know if he is active in doing any independent projects now that Hero has the new, convenient (free) licensing agreement available?
  15. Re: How (un)realistic are Street Samurai? Hm..this is a good place for this clip...I know it's just a pellet, but it is very cool, and totally unenhanced! "Samurai Sword Technique - Cutting BB Gun pellet by Isao Machii"
  16. Re: campaign start off adventure A villain bent on attacking them individually because of a mysterious vendetta based on something they have in common but do not realize they have in common.
  17. Re: Golden Age Comics on DVD...The Big Red Cheese!
  18. Re: The Valdorian Age I wholeheartedly agree, however in this current business climate I fear this is extremely unlikely. Theoretically a Kickstarted for it could happen, but I wouldn't think it would happen any time soon.
  19. I'll link to the site, and recommend "Facing Violence" and "Violence A Writer's Guide" but really his practical attitude and experience and ability to communicate it is what I find so helpful. http://chirontraining.com/Site/Home.html Excerpt from his blog: "Once upon a time, waiting to start a class I noticed a guy outside trying to change his tire. The tire was slung under the truck and he had a rod which was supposed to be inserted into a socket and turned to lower the tire. It wasn't working. He was standing there behind the truck with two friends trying to figure it out. So I went out, crawled under the truck and started feeling around. That’s an important rule: if something doesn't work it is almost impossible to figure it out without going on scene. The guy willing to crawl under the truck will solve more problems than the three guys trying to stay clean and dry and thinking about it. So I poked around, 'cause I couldn't see a damn thing and noticed that the rod he was trying to use was the exact same size as the socket. In other words, the socket end was on the rod and he had it turned backwards. Easy fix. I told him... and he said, "That can't be right. The crank thingy is on this end." "Hey!" I said, "I'm right friggin' here. That's the wrong end. Turn it around." He actually refused. It didn't make sense, he said. I insisted and he pulled out the crank rod and pushed it in the exact same way. I don't know if he was trying to be clever or if his denial was so deep that he thought if he kept doing the 'sensible' thing it would miraculously start working. He finally listened and the tire was down in a few seconds. I went into the training area to get some coffee before class started. It makes you think, doesn't it? How many lives have been lost because the scouts reported what they saw and the commanding officers went with what they expected? How many hostage situations or EDP (Emotionally Disturbed Person) encounters have gone bad because the person went with the script instead of going with what was actually happening? This happens everywhere. So we started joking about a new martial art, "The Way of the Guy Who is Actually There" based on the strange and novel idea of listening primarily to people who actually know what they are talking about. Revolutionary, I know. I’m a rebel."
  20. Re: Golden Age Comics on DVD...The Big Red Cheese! The comics themselves are in the public domain so there are a bunch of different sellers out there with different formats and different levels of quality to their scans. I think these guys--'everything4lessstore'--were the only guys, for example to have a scan of the first Whiz comic that actually introduces the Big Red Cheeze! And everything4lessstore specifically say that they're selling in the PDF format. There are (legal, honest!) sites where you can download the .cbz format for free, but they tend to have a lot of gaps in their series runs. Digital comic museum (link follows) is one of those: http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?cid=23
  21. Re: Golden Age Comics on DVD...The Big Red Cheese!
  22. I found this, and as long as you can deal with PDF rather than paper, I think it's awesome these old comics are available in a collection for ten bucks! I am not old enough to have read these when they came out, but I am old enough to have read a collection in--hardback which is now falling apart--as a boy and to have become a big fan! http://www.everything4lessstore.com/316.html This is the other line which actually introduced 'The Big Red Cheeze'! http://www.everything4lessstore.com/537.html
