  1. Re: The Clown Guild - The First Clan for the new MMO You can now set up a guild for Beta Champs Online. We will need someone to be the leader of the guild and then email out invites to everyone who wants to join. Count me in for Clown. Or the Hex-men since we are not allowed to be villains yet. http://www.champions-online.com/preview_guild_application The Heckler at your service!
  2. Re: Project Sunburst Oh and I have no idea what Ripper looks like in 5th since I don't have the book he is in, but when he was first printed he had a 50 Str and +50 Str with 3 charges on it. In 4th they dropped the added Str by 20 and gave him an extra charge. So what is his listed Str in 5th?
  3. Re: Project Sunburst Yes, he does. When he first appeared in Stronghold, he was a former Green Beret who got captured by the Viet Cong who did all kinds of experiments on him and left him for dead. He managed to make his way back to South Vietnam and was then transferred back to the US. He was dying from radiation he had received so they offered him a chance for survival through Project Omnicron. In 4th, they said the scientist who was behind Project Omnicron had been the only surviving scientist from Project Sunburst and was trying to create soldiers who could survive another Project Sunburst. I am not sure if 5th edition makes any such claims about Ripper as I don't know what book his is in. (I don't have a lot of 5th ed books) And if I remember correctly, in the original stuff there were 10 survivors of Project Sunburst with 6 still being in a coma.
  4. Re: Your Gaming Group's Jargon Wow, nice to see Cavalinger on the list. I feel special.
  5. Re: Project Sunburst Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this thread Mike. Yes, I have used a version of them quite a bit in my campaigns. There membership was changed a bit as Ray was dropped and a version of Ripper (now called The Bomb) and a member I made up called Ground Zero got added. I also remade both Sunburst and Radium, but the basic powers and history were close to the original. They were used as the most feared US terrorist group in my world. I left it vague as to how much of their story was true and how much was crazy conspiracy stuff. Unfortunately, none of my gaming groups ever really investigated much about their background. With the 2 new members they were pretty devastating, even more than I had originally planned.
  6. Re: The Super Darwin Awards We had a few CoC Darwins actually. The one that sticks out was when we went to a dreamworld and saw a huge figure coming towards us out of the mist. Everyone did the right thing and ran away without looking.... except one character. he decided to stay and see it. He lost a lot of sanity just form seeing it but still did not run. The huge figure reached out to touch him and still he stood there. The GM asked him several times if he wanted to run and he said no every time. "OK" he said. "the Elder touches you and you go insane". To this day none of us know why he just stood there.
  7. Re: The Super Darwin Awards I have seen it mentioned a few times already, but in my group we also had someone who did a massive move through. His was a build issue though. He built the character with very high movement and DCV, but almost nothing for defense. He did not think about what would happen if he did not roll KB. Sure enough the very first combat he was in...
  8. Re: Champions Online on MSNBC Some very cool game content that I had not seen before. I'm with you on the thugs getting thrown off the heroin. That was my favorite part.
  9. Re: Favorite Kazei 5 Characters? I would like to see Shion as a good rep of an uber powerful ESPer type, but would also like to see someone who had some ESPer powers but is a little lower on the power scale. I also like Chrusher but would like to see Jagger or someone similar to him. Someone who has cybernetic implants but isn't a full blown cyborg. Of course part of me wants to say Mojo for that spot, but that is just ego driven
  10. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? I got A Charlie Brown Christmas by Vince Guaraldi from my wife. My favorite Christmas music of all time.
  11. Re: Project XIII: images from my campaign I'll rep you when you post their friggin weaknesses! Nah, I'll rep you anyway,
  12. Re: Grond is up with podcast I would shorten that up to "radioacne".
  13. Re: Project XIII: images from my campaign We love the pics! How bout some writeups? Or at least some weaknesses on these guys? Well, I tried.
  14. Re: Grond is up with podcast I like it. As others have said, I would have lost the horns though. Other than that I like the look and think it fits in well with the general style for the game so far. Ah well, I guess you can't please everyone. Oh and I dig the bright green. Very radioactive!
  15. Re: inventor skill - what's the point? Or to figure out what a crazy invention the super baddie used and how it general works. I agree it also helps to "make sense" when a gadgeteer suddenly has a new power or just to show that he actually invented most of the stuff he uses. I have found it useful both on it's own and as a complimentary skill.
  16. Re: The power of Recovery That is a character concept I have tried to play in several campaigns, but have never done. It seems it would be a pretty good combo. Maybe some day...
  17. Re: closed beta applications Thanks for the info!
  18. Re: Meanwhile... After hunting around the boards, it seems most people think Cryptic has landed the Star Trek license and will be doing that MMO next. Only time will tell.
  19. I can be pretty oblivious so it may have been there for awhile, but I just noticed the little clock counting down in the corner of the main page with the title "meanwhile..." over it. Anybody know what that is for? The date would be July 27 when the clock strikes zeros.
  20. Re: Ben Foxworthy Q&A You know you might be a mission designer if....
  21. Re: What is Your Inner Character? I need to find a game where I can play my true nature. A Chaotic Good Halfling Ranger / Monk! I don't even know if that is a legal character.
  22. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy
  23. Re: A New Dawn. 'Post-Apocalyptic' Fantasy I just started reading everything about your campaign in the last week and it sounds really cool. ( I got through about 5 pages so far) Although I doubt I will be able to play I was inspired to make a background for a "diplomat" from a kingdom on the continent of Tuan. Kind off the cuff, but here goes: The "captain" told me we should make landfall in a two more days, as long as there were no more storms or sea creatures. It is hard to tell if more storms are coming, as the sky has been gray since the second day of our journey. What happens when we reach land is anyone's guess. Most of the crew will scatter to the four winds and try to make a new life for themselves. Everyone on board is either a criminal or disgraced to our people. I am sure the captain will try to keep the ship, and I am inclined to let him. It will be of no use to me and I doubt I will need it in the future. Future? Ha, I have no future, just a journey without an end in sight. We have heard very little from Eretria since the Great Blight ravaged our lands, but recently there are rumors that some there are rebuilding. I am hoping the rumors are true and we are not the last vestiges of civilization. My father and the high council also hope the rumors are true, which is why I have been sent on this journey. That and because I am expendable. Normally, the son of a ruler would not be sent, but I am not normal. I once was, but all that changed in the last battle in the war with the great mountain demons. I knew long ago I would never be ruler of our small kingdom. My older brother Sato was destined for that. He always had the aura of a leader that I never did. And my younger brother, Pi-yang, was stronger and a much better fighter than I. Oh how I used to with I could fight as well as him, but now that I can I want no part of it. Whatever foul power touched my soul that day on Mount Hijin made me stronger and faster than any of our finest warriors. Now I am tainted and by all rights should be shunned, but my father was merciful. He allowed me to stay even though it weakened his power within the kingdom. If I stayed much longer, one of the other councilmen might have taken control and claimed leadership. My father was smart to send me on this "diplomatic mission". My people do need to know that others survived and are rebuilding. The people need hope. I wonder will they will accept that hope coming from me? Shien She is from a very small "kingdom" on Tuan. The kingdom is no more than a handful of villages working together to fend off any demons. His father is very charismatic and through his sheer will has kept the small kingdom going and slowly growing for the last 20 years. Shien has some diplomatic skills but is really a warrior first (martial arts with some weapon elements). He has been tainted (I am thinking mutant and so most of his people shun him.) He does not deal well with other who have been altered from human to "other" and will recoil if any would try to touch him. His main purpose here is to make contact with the New Dawn and try to establish good relations with them. He is also trying to gather general information about the continent and what has befallen it in the time since the mage wars.
