Ternaugh reacted to Lord Liaden in Political Discussion Thread (With Rules)
All I've seen of Joe Biden is that he's a little slower than he used to be, he occasionally forgets something but never anything important, and he occasionally misspeaks, which frankly he's done his entire life. Nothing that raises any concerns for me. He's convinced me that he can do the job, and he's accomplished much more than anyone expected. As for his age, my landlord is 95 and still drives, mows his lawn and does home repairs. This is 2024, eighty is the new sixty.
Donald Trump is obese, physically feeble, and doing his best impression of the local crazy old man ranting at the neighbors from his front porch. He proved he was unfit for the job even before all that.

McD workers in Denmark get paid far more than here and the cost of the menu items isn't significantly higher than here. But then...they actually regulate their corporations there. They raise prices here because they can...not because they have to.

In N Out isn't publically traded, so they don't have the 'can't let the shareholders value drop' driver (also a reason why the quality of product is better). I don't think they franchise either (for the same reason - quality).

A Momentary Lapse of Reason: Remixed & Updated (Surround mix) by Pink Floyd, followed by Ammonia Avenue (5.1 mix) by the Alan Parsons Project, and now A Trick of the Tail (5.1 mix) by Genesis. Music for puttering about the house and reading newspaper sites.

A recent The Daily episode dealt with Biden's supposed senility. The reporter noted that Biden has a very long history of mixing up names and sentences that wander off into unexpected territory. Also addressed the cognitive advantages of old age: less glib, but better judgment. Slower speed, but better aim, so to speak.
I am reminded here of the assessment of someone who knows former House Speaker Newt Gingrich well. In ten minutes the man can be relied on to come out with ten startling, original, and superficially brilliant ideas... half of which contradict the other half, and nine out of ten of which turn out to be batsh*t insane once you look at them closely. Really, not someone I would want with his hand on The Big Red Button.
As I grow older myself, I place greater value on temperament than cleverness. I trust Biden to at least try to do the right thing, even if I may disagree with him about what the right thing is.

I hit the bargain bins at one of the local Zia Records fairly heavy on Friday, getting 16 CD albums for $10. Some Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, the Carpenters, the Chieftains, Louis Armstrong, and, well, this one:
While I had heard it years ago, I didn't have it in my collection until now, and at the bargain price of fifty cents. It will go proudly next to my William Shatner discs.

Just finished my quarterly doctor visit, my muscle mass is up 2lbs, and my fat mass is down 9 lbs.
I was also told to eat more salt.
