  1. Hear Hear! all advantages etc should be alphabetically listed in the same section.
  2. 1st: Strength should cost 2 points/ point. This would simplify many things, and allow simplification in particular on HA. Fix Regen. Current Shapeshift bothers me. I feel it went from too cheap to too expensive. NOt sure how it would be better. Re-write weapon tables. Pole arms were not useless for small people. >45 ACP is not more powerful than .41 Magnum. I know, I'm a nut. Make rounding always work after addition.
  3. I keep thinking that a way to deal with some of the unusual damage cases, either more or less than normal is this: limited open ended damage. If I shoot someone with a .44 magnum, 2d6K, I roll my dice. If I roll a 6, I roll an extra 1/2 die, that DOES NOT affect armor. If I roll a 1, I subtract a 1/2 die. No one wants to try it out in playtest. Just to stimulate discussion, of course.
  4. I read of a case where an argument turned violent, 2 guys shot each other. One took 5 or 6 .45 slugs to the chest, took a bus to the hospital. The other died from a .22, iirc. Here in my town the Sergaent at arms for a motorcycle gang was sitting at the table across from his dead attacker. The survivor had a towel held to his face and the back of his head, after being shot with a .41 MAGNUM. It went right through, he lost one eye. Maybe there was nothing else inside the skull, but....
  5. Imagine all the fun cybertech updates they could give the elite undead troops. vampires with sunlight blocking forcefields (Thank you, Nick Pollata) Zombies with cybered reflexes so they can keep up with the humans. Shock bones ala Arduin(skeletons with surprises) I think I have a headache now.
  6. The doubling every 2 sounds about right to me too. OF course, many problems would be alleviated if Strength cost 2/1.
  7. I keep thinking about running a spreadsheet and a ballistics program to work out the damage class breaks for different cartridges at different ranges. Print them up as cards to go with the character sheets.... Gurps had 1/2 damage range, which was Ok, but... My favorite parts of Gurps were the way encumbrance worked and the way melee damage actually increased significantly as strength did. It could easily get out of hand, but... WHen the Ogre swings at you with a 2 handed sword, YOU REALLY DON't want to get hit. If he uses a dagger, you MIGHt live...
  8. Thanks a lot guys... I may have to give him a cellular phone so friends can find him if he is knocked out.
  9. Damn, I was just starting to re-read the rules, I missed that! Good.
  10. OK, I am hitting a brick wall. "nowhere man" is a low level brick who is invisible unless he pays endurance and probably concentrates. He hopes he never gets knocked out while bleeding... How would the gurus write this up?
  11. In a sort of robot warriors/supergaladiator game I took in kind of a small transforming mech, because it was a vehicle it was more cost efficient... Well, actually no one really minded because the conventionally designed character kicked ass. Never underestimate the +12d6 ha claw(a la aliens cargo loader) on a suit of powered armor! My friends have often said I need a +25 point "greg's character" lim. I'm kind of an anti-munchkin.
  12. A CHEF- Perhaps even the "Bunmaster" jEnergy projector based on different kinds of bread... How about the daughter or grand daughter of COrporal LeBeau... She can really do all the things HOgan convinced the Germans her father could do. mentalist, minor Gadgeteer, chef, ---If grand-daughter, could have a whole team of his descendants. Ok, WHo spiked my Ginger ale?
  13. I was having a hard time remembering whether it was Redback or Red-stripe, but Then I remembered redstripe was a Jamaican beer, not an Australian one. If only I could afford to vacation in Perth and Sydney/Hunter river valley Yearly!
  14. Terminally stupid, huh. Well I was tired, but... Can't you see "The Rock" smashing villains (and the block they are in)? Oh well, different strokes. I realize ULURU is the Aboriginal name and really the appropriate one, but many people would not recognize it, and from what I heard when I was there 8 years ago, many people wouldn't use it. I like the Flying Fox, but... I'm weird, I thought they were cute. Now for Pure jokes..... Red back- the spider assasin XXXX the corporate team, all beer based powers The platypus- Amphibian with spacial awareness and martial arts Groaner- a tunnelling brick who looks like a bundle of giant worms. sorry, I really couldn't resist, I should have tried harder, but... Hell, if I wanted to be nasty I could have invoked the nightmare of a superpowered Kevin "Bloody" Wilson! Great, now I'll probably be banned from ever visiting again.
  15. was that renard the fox? I should see if anyone else actually answered now...
  16. The Champions character I played the most would be SOL. Martial artist with a lightly armored suit, clinging, and night vision goggles. If I was actually on the train, I would have this little problem of Enraged when Innocents endangered/harmed- though that was being worked on with a Psychiatrist. IIRC I wouldhave ended up knocking him out with pulled punches, then interrogating him for the bomb location, after stopping the train, somehow. Probably end up more nuts than I started...
  17. Other possible Australians... Ayers Rock(huge brick) or Uluru if you want to be more PC. Outback... I have no idea of powers dessicating heat, moderate level brick? I like a shapechanger who turns into the extinct large carnivorous Kangaroo or the 20 foot long Goanna. A crocodile would work too. Maybe Bunyip? I may have to make a character, have him have corporate sponsorship. Either VB or Dogbolter on his chest! I wish I could get them here.
  18. While I can see the union suits being fashionable, I really like pockets! Body armor is good too. It has been a while since I played in a 4-color camaign, I may have trouble going back.
  19. Re: YES... RONIN! "Man on Fire" was a very interesting read and a mediocre movie, but still better than many. "Manhunter" was good. Equalizer was Great, though I had problems with the main character deciding Guns limited options all the time. He had a point, but sometimes firepower is useful. I guess most of our characters were on the high end for DI, almost superagents. Sometimes we played allowing 10 points in powers, etc. I still like the DI rules for shotguns, bombs, and Artillery best! HM, LaFeme Nikita anyone?
  20. Check teh FAQ, Steve said he doesn't know how he mis-typed that, IIRC.
  21. Well, with three times the energy of a 120 smoothbore, it might actually be worth 8d6 K AP! supposedly went in the front of an M-1 IPMI or later and out the back...
  22. For once I agree with Zootsoot Brendan Fraser!!!!!
  23. Maybe it was used, or the single shot not the semi-auto? I think the .500 might actually qualify for 2.5 f6, +1 stun, but I think the .50 BMG should be 3d6 + 1 +1 stun or aP Something about 12000 ftlbs of energy...
  24. You could try the shooters.com discussion boards. Otherwise you have about all the info I have. I'm looking for more on the 6.8mm SOCOM round, supposedly a120 grain 6.5 bullet at 2700 out of an M-16. I have heard it is based on a .30 remington with a rebated rim, uses same magazines, etc. I want one as a light hunting rifle.
  25. I think you are right, but if it was like the .50 US one, it was a 350-300 grain bullet at 600 fps. A whole different world in terms of power. Now some of the HOWDAH guns...
