  1. I thought I was the only one who saw that movie! I had actually forgotten that bit, I was the projectionist for it at the UW many years ago. I missed some parts due to working the mechanisms.
  2. Did the half elf get him, or was it the outraged fates?
  3. I would have used a B-52 arclight, but, yeah.
  4. You are very welcome. I borrowed a copy of "Tohn the Balladeer" from Dean Schomshack years ago. It took me 3 years to find my own copy!!!! There was no Amazon then. For some other fairly interesting horror ideas see David Drakes "from the heart of Darkness." some great short stories.
  5. "I am in shape, ROund is a shape." I first heard it from Jeff Skagen. He was probably quoting from someone else I
  6. Have you ever read "john the balladeer" by Manly Wade Wellman or the homage book "Old Nathan" by David Drake? John the Balladeer is a musician wandering the appalachians in probably the 30s -50s, and encounters lots of old folk tales come to life. WONDERFUL stuff. Old Nathan was an homage to Wellman by Drake, who was aquainted with him and liked and respected him highly.
  7. Many years ago I saw a set of expansion rules in Dragon or somewhere about a halfling martial art. IIRC the name translated as "Surprise and Smash" I would tend to have them start with a legsweep or other takedown, then either a killing or NND grab (don't ask where) or maybe a disable element grab. I keep thinking about my 5'4" friend the mixed martial artist, who could take somebody down and cripple them so fast it isn't scary, it is terrifying! Lots of oportunities, as stated, for "ninja" like tricks. I would think they would be well served by Bolas or lariats, particularly in groups. Maybe the Flying Guillotine. Blow guns, spears, slings, bows, Stillettos, Bundi, Very potentially frightening.
  8. Was the ref a guy named Kelly, and did he run a dungeon complex called Hell Mountain? one level a flooded city? when Our 1st level party defeated the ETTIN that wandered into our camp one night, he said "I meant for that to kill someone. Lets see who it falls on." Great dungeon, but...
  9. That reminds me of one! we were playing a very strange campaign where our characters were mostly from the real world (more or less) and were shifted over to one where magic worked, etc. (Mine was actually kidnapped from the back of an ambulance by Morganna Le Fey ) 2 characters, played by good friends, made mercenaries who had been working in Africa. The turned into anthropomorphic bulldogs- the "dogs of War" fairly soon we were in a situation where a heavily armored hell knight or some such was holding his sword at the throat of a little girl in front of him. CHaracter- Can you kill him? Dog of war #1: sure, no problem. ME: WIthout killing the girl? DOg of war #2 Make it difficult why don't you? They used their small gadget pool to put laser sights on their AK 47s and shoot him in the head.
  10. you are frightening me! the lack of obviouspowers seems very deceptive. Several characters are obviously unkillable. HMM....
  11. I think I only read about the first 4 stories... maybe I'd better start hunting them up, 25 years is a long time!
  12. I ws just using that as an intro to what reminded me of one of my favorite characters. Tom strong is another Doc- homage, imo
  13. I,m having some trouble posting, slammed middle finger in door last night
  14. I wonder, should we just give him every martial arts manuever? jow many supers characters would be comfortable knowing DOc was upset with them?
  15. Like Superman in amny eras would be cheap? I actually figured he would have the "universal scientist" that was proposed during the cybergames days at about 14 or 15-. The rest of his advances would be from combining skills. just off the top of my head...
  16. DOC SAVAGE! Has anyone written him up? just feeling sentimental for 5th and 6th grade, I guess.
  17. all the superman threads then the pulp thread...
  18. Damn, And just yesterday I was wondering how to write up DOC SAVAGE! One of my favorites.
  19. It was designed for a dark future military weapon. When I told him about it, my friend asked "did you come up with that yourself? It is nasty." NO Respect I tell ya.
  20. Maybe he has a nasty teleport uao that he uses to send targets "over yonder"
  21. I got stomped on because I bought a penetrating HKA. The didn't let me add strength. Only reason I bought it was that the penetrating RKA was inadequate imho. I guess I do have munchkin tendencies. Too bad all my characters are totally inefficient. I was working on 2 linked 2d6 autofire Penetrating reduced pen reduced end Energy RKA - needle laser blaster. Also called the shredder
  22. a low end brick with the same powers but a hammer/pick might be even stealthier. Problem is Supperessors are not perfect. many smgs end up sounding like .22 rifles, iirc.
