I think I did that on purpose when I was trying to bring him in at 400 points.  Since I failed, I'll just push it back up.  :)

Due to his COME of 16, he should have one level of striking appearance vs all, or +2d6 vs women (depending on what better fits the story).

Notes: This is just an attempt to convert Cavalier from the Millennium City book to 6E.  I can't take much, if any, credit for any creativity here because this was basically just a transcription.  He had a lot more complications in 5E, obviously, so I chose the ones I thought best applied.  I thought about tweaking him to make him a true 400 point hero, but it seems to make sense to me that he has some experience points.

I intended to use Cavalier as part of a superhero team that I'm envisioning being kind of rivals with the Champions (or just trying to live up to the Champions' standards).

His STUN should be 26, not 25.  But it looks fantastic otherwise!

Has anyone run or played in Fantasy Hero scenarios where the point is to investigate a crashed starship or other science fictional elements?  If so how did it go?  What source materials did you use?

There is an adventure in the Fantasy HERO Battlegrounds book that features similar elements and storyline.

I made a version using the Hero Designer software. I have no idea if its even legal system-wise, but I will link it here in case anyone wants to give it a look see and let me know what they think. Mr.hdc

Interesting, but the big problem is that the character relies too much on perceivable, which isn't legal with distinctive features (with the exception of the resistant protection).  You kind of abused unified power and then got the high power defense.  I don't allow this build in my games, as it is "here's a flaw but I also have an advantage that negates the flaw."

What do you think of this version?  I used a modified adventuring gadgeteer from the Champions 6e book and kept most of your skills.  The diplomatic immunity seemed questionable, given his background.

  5. Hello fellow HERO gamers,

I'm planning on running some events at Origins in 2019. They will be Champions or HERO games given my disappointment at the lack of those games at the 2018 convention.  Have you ever submitted events to Origins before?

Just curious as I've never done event submissions and could use some help.

It was suggested that maybe we create a thread for new people who are posting and especially for lurkers.

So here is what I would like to suggest everyone post as an introduction:

    • How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?
    • What was the first tabletop RPG you played?
    • What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?
    • What are you currently playing/GMing?

I hope this thread gets pinned.

    1) I liked the chess title, even though I'm nowhere near that level but I think I'm that level in terms of GMing (maybe).

    2) Dungeons and Dragons 2nd edition (I played it as a youngster, about 12 years old or so)

    3) Also D&D 2nd edition, although I had help from my friends.  We re-enacted the Battle for Helm's Deep 2-4 years before Peter Jackson did it on the big screen.

    4) I'm currently GMing some games with a couple users on the forum and playing in games that they're running.  We're doing HERO System 6th edition.  I also GM a monthly Savage Worlds game (underrated system, but it's far more rules-light than HERO) and GM a monthly HERO game online for the Kerberos Club.

  7. Does anyone have the information for the following heroes in Michael Satran's Universe (King of the Mountain pages 73-74):

Ramjet, an alien humanoid sheep with superpowers

The Scarlet Mage, a man with a mystic amulet

Vigilant: a tough, no-nonsense street hero who fights with the Arnis martial arts style

Risk, the embodiment of the energy of beating the odds

Tectonic: a mutant who draws his powers from the seismic power of the earth itself

Darren Watts wrote that sales of Golden Age Champions weren't enough to compensate the time, effort and expense of publishing Silver Age Champions, as much as he'd like to. :(

And I know what you're thinking. GAC was crowd funded through Kickstarter, but beyond its backers sales reportedly weren't strong. And Darren writes stuff like this for a living, so time and expense are serious considerations.

That's understandable.  HERO just isn't as big as it used to be- despite Champions Online.

Beyond that, your best bet would probably be to send a Private Message through this website to Darren Watts. The Ganymede stuff comes from his Golden Age test campaign, further advanced for his succeeding Silver Age campaign (testing for a proposed Silver Age Champions which now, sadly, seems unlikely to ever be published).

Why is it unlikely to be ever published?

  10. In my own Victorian superhero game, Otto Von Bismarck has become "The Iron Chancellor" a steampunk cyborg with plans to make Germany the dominant power in the world.  He's probably the most powerful villain.

You could also have The Mechanical Turk become sentient, similar to Ultron.

I wish I had.  Years back, I played in one of Shane's games and had a lot of fun.  I just need to get on the ball and be aware of the convention, like, sometime before it happens instead of a week+ later.

Just curious, which game based on a late friend's creation?

David Webb/DJ Webb, he posted on the forum a few times. He was running a Champions game where the PCs were all descendants of World War II superheroes.

  12. I will be attending the U-Con Gaming Convention over in Ypsilanti, Michigan from November 9-11th.  Shane Harsch will also be in attendance, but I am right now the only one of two running HERO games.

I will be running a Fantasy/Post-Acolyptic HERO game based on Steve Long's Revelations 1001, a Champions Superhero game based on the creation of a late friend of mine, and a Martial Arts HERO game set in 16th century China.

    Details are here.
