zslane got a reaction from Jagged in Supergirl
The downside of Monday's episode was the disappointing lack of Saturn Girl.
Actually, the bigger issue for me is the relationship they are trying to build between Lena and James. It is interfering with quality Lena/Kara time. Lena and Kara have more chemistry with each other than either of them have (or ever had) with James or Mon-El.

I sort of look at this new trilogy with the same wistful disappointment that I feel for the Iron Fist show. So much potential, and so many resources wasted on the wrong story. Both have some good characters, but they can't overcome the fact that they are stuck in a story very few fans expected (or wanted...or liked).

I do agree with you on that count. They do look, more or less, like evolutionary branches of a common design mindset, at least in its minute details.
However, the overall aesthetic is still one that conforms to the boring, black, padded "tech" armor design that countless other characters have been forced to wear since Singer foisted it upon us eighteen years ago. There's a YouTube video that discusses the cultural origins of the classic supersuit and Hollywood's disdain for it, showing many (oh so many) examples from the myriad superhero movies that have come out since 2000's X-Men. When one is so vividly reminded of just how ubiquitous this creatively empty motif has become, it feels like a cut that never heals because it keeps getting abraded and re-opened with every new superhero movie that comes out.

With its red/black/white color scheme, I just assumed this was the company producing my EVH Frankenstrat clone (which I named "Warbird"):

Because this is the Internet, and it is often difficult to be argumentative and contrarian without making false assumptions, oversimplifying someone's point, misrepresenting someone's point, propping up straw men, and otherwise arguing against something nobody is arguing for just to have something to say.

The character isn't that interesting to me, nor is the espionage thriller genre that interesting to me. Plus, ScarJo does nothing for me as an actress. Having said that, if it does get made, I'll see it because it's an MCU movie (and at this point I'm an MCU completist), but it'll be a rental for me for sure.

The SJWs are the ones making the loudest fuss about it on YouTube and social media. People like me, who love strong female heroes even more than strong male heroes but don't feel the need to make a crusade about it, eagerly await any and all such movies without ranting online about how morally corrupt Hollywood is for not doing more of it. I mean, Hollywood is morally corrupt, don't get me wrong, but what separates a fan from an SJW is the extent to which they try to make these things into great social imperatives.

The chop damage type suggests that maybe we also need a grind damage type. After all, once characters graduate from axes to chainsaws, chop and slice just won't do...

I think Finn knew he was only buying them some time to escape; he wasn't buying them a secure base from which to operate permanently.

We have no evidence (in movie form) that Luke became a paragon of Jedi virtues (like Obi-Wan) after the end of Return of the Jedi. Yes, he stepped back from the edge of giving in completely to the dark side by not killing Vader, but we have no way of knowing if he was able to forever resist his darker impulses afterwords. I think fans just assume that he did, and fiercely protect this mythical version of him. Do we know where Lucas was planning to take the Luke character in his own version of episodes 7-9?

Well, I want to protest the casting of a white dude as the Vision rather than a red-skinned android like he was in the comics. It's like they deliberately went out of their way to get that wrong!

Maybe a rift within the New Republic that threatened to tear it apart before it even got started would have been potentially interesting. No need for some Empire 2.0 as an external threat. Just seeing Luke, Leia, Han, and company struggling to keep the New Republic together, perhaps with the Sith stirring the pot and forcing Luke to "bring balance" to the Force by training new Jedi to help keep the new peace that will last another thousand generations.
The problem with the above scenario is that it's not cynical enough, not "realistic" enough for today's directors (like Rian Johnson) who would rather blow apart institutions like the Jedi Order, depicting them as outdated and corrupt, than allow them to regain their former glory as guardians of light in the universe.

If Obi-Wan and Yoda are anything to go by, the preordained career path for a top-tier Jedi master is to go to some secluded planet, become a recluse into old age, eventually train a young hero for a day or two, and then pass away in a moment of complete Force Enlightenment. Luke is merely conforming to proper Star Wars tradition.

I've decided to declare all of the movies after Star Wars as non-canon... ( )
