  1. Re: [Character] Makeshift Interesting. Some quick thoughts: Power-wise His natural speed seems a little high for a guy who was simply a techie. It's about the same as a Special Forces guy at the moment. Perhaps incorporate some of it into the armor? Skills-wise I'd probably give him Systems Operations - techies know how to use gear too. Also he's described as an inventor, yet doesn't have the Inventor skill. His specialty of miniturised power cells could be reflected in an appropriate science or knowledge skill. Perhaps spend some points on a hidden room/lab in his house, and also the access perk. A contact or favour with an ex-collegue from PRIMUS would be cool. How did he track down Mantara? He doesn't have any skills or equipment that would indicate he could do this - not even a police scanner. Disad-wise I'd consider some sort of heroic motivation Psych Lim and another related to his drive to "stop being a nobody". Also maybe he 'hunts' powered armor villains (for obvious reasons).

And even buying the power linked to movement would still make it a -1/2 limitation. All true enough - was just offering suggestions

Firstly regarding this power: You do realise that under the rules for applying STR to advantaged Hand-to-Hand attacks that this power would max out at 4D6, right? A different way to build it for the same effect would be: +3D6 HA, Area Effect 1 Hex (Accurate), 0 END (Active 30pts, Real 10, Max Damage 6D6) Or even drop the 0 END and make it +4D6 HA, 1 Hex Accurate (Active 30, Real 20, Max Damage 8D6) Secondly, this power: Would Restrainable be a better disad to apply? Meaning that it wouldn't work if the character was grabbed or entangled (which would strangely enough mean that they weren't moving ). Also I feel that it should be applied to many of the character's powers for the same reason. Finally, this one: Did you consider building it as an explosion instead? Maybe even double knockback too? (Same cost then). I like the idea/concept and the character - I'll be interest to see how it pans out. Also I'll revisit after some more thought - that was just some initial noodling.

It always is a good thing and helps keep characters focused and helps villains manipulate them:sneaky:. Very in keeping with 4 color style.
  11. Re: Question: Chi Power Defense I thought so too, except in one case: I thought you could apply 5pt HTH levels to Dodge and have them count against ranged attacks that way. e.g. 3 levels with HTH plus a normal (non-martial) dodge equals 6 DCV vs all attacks.

From the Knights of Justice (Champions) game: We've just fought some cultists and Cold Sun (ice-based speedster) has skated ahead/down to the next chamber. He has attacked a couple of guards and then hears a roar. He turns and... GM: You see a large creature towering over you... large powerful legs... reptilian, crocodile-like scaly skin... dark red in colour - like congealing blood... sharp, powerful claws... long sinewy arms... a large mouth filled with sharp teeth - a LOT of sharp teeth... Cold Sun (wanting to roll a knowledge skill to maybe identify it): Gypsy folklore? GM: It's not a gypsy Same game, later on. Cold Sun is doing multiple move-bys on two guards at a time, but rolled an 18 to hit the second one so skids along the ground and winds up being brutally clubbed with a rifle. His next action: Cold Sun (to self or OOC): Let's just try that again... hit one and run into the butt of another...
  13. Re: Repercussions of a VIPER Assault on PRIMUS (S-Squad, STAY OUT!) I agree with some of the above. Windchill is a deadman walking as far as VIPER and the local PRIMUS outfit are concerned. And probably knows it. And probably knows that the only people who can protect him are the PC heroes. I don't think an all out visible war on VIPER would occur except in Chicago. I do think PRIMUS would activate and direct its Black Ops Unit to focus on VIPER in all locations. PRIMUS doesn't have a Black Ops Unit I hear you say? Sure they don't

You know you've got problems when... the GM makes all the supervillains attack you first in combat because your characters are usually really tough bricks. You know you've REALLY got problems when... you've decided for a change to play a highly trained normal with minimal armor and normal characteristic maxima.

  20. Re: Regrettable Disads I've seen Vuln: 2x STUN AND BODY from technology from another player. Turns out he was just a Champions remake of his favourite D&D PC wizard - with similar kinds of restrictions on his spellcasting. Was apparently 20th level or something - pretty powerful anyway. Unfortunately the GM had a thing for powered armor villains and... well... SPLAT Gee, that was 60pts of disads well gained, wasn't it?

  23. Re: The Things That I've Learned Facing Bricks Another stat that Bricks tend to buy heaps of is CON, which like STR, gives you heaps of bonuses in figured stats and adds defensively because it makes you hard to STUN.
  24. Re: The Things That I've Learned Facing Bricks If you are faster/higher DEX - holding your action until after the brick has acted is incredibly useful in team situations. A 2D6 Ranged Killing Attack and Find Weakness with RKA at 13- and +5 with the RKA (60 AP total) can be much nastier than a straight 12D6 EB (also 60 AP). NNDs/AVLDs and patience are your friends.
