  1. Re: Villain Team Name Hmmm... Blood Moon Paradise Lost Sons of Morning The Rising Darkness Comes The Diabolical Demon's Club (with apologies to The Billionaire Boy's Club) The Mercy Seat (ok, so I see/hear this song by Nick Cave as their 'theme' tune...) Or a Gaelic translation fo any of these. I'm creatively fried from work. I'll come back to this later...
  2. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Could be worse.... could be Collingwood... I'm a Fremantle Dockers dude myself... so it's not like I have much to be joyous about...
  3. Re: Need help getting a character I'd stick with the higher normal and lower resistant values myself. Maybe even split it to 40 PD/ 30 ED (15 rPD/rED).
  4. Re: What would your Master Villain do? Brood: "They are but seven. We are many more. They care for the stupid whining breathing vermin of this world? Then we will hold their vermin hostage and hurt them as we wish. We will swarm the cities of Tokyo, Rome, Berlin, New York, Hong Kong, and New Orleans. But not London or Paris - for we wish the one called Lugus to witness the pain of his fellows and fear for his people. We will tear their gentle flesh and hear their pleading cries, and will watch as they wonder why and plead to their gods to save them. This Pantheon of merely seven will leave their temple in the sky, as their kind will, to try to save their snivelling babes. They will want to fight us, to stop us, and will come to us. Then we will empty their cities of us, the streets red with the blood of their mindless cattle, and we will enter their empty castle in the sky and destroy it. A new star will burn in the night sky for a time, then fall to earth, Lugus and his cities will wait in terror, and these self proclaimed gods will seek vengeance, for they have been hurt in way for which they have no defense and have been shown what true power is. But they will not find us. For they are merely seven. We will hide in the shadows between worlds and wait as we have always done. We are Brood. And this is how the fall of the gods will begin." OOC: Ok, here's some info on the dude himself: Brood, a teleporting shadow-like mutant with a hidden extra-dimensional base who can summon a practically unlimited number of 'duplicates' (not done through the duplication power) and others (using duplication). Not very damaging (but highly defensive) in a straight one-to-one fight with supers, but nasty versus normals and hostages. Tends to work behind the scenes, but occasionally makes grand gestures to put heroes in their place and show them what power is all about. Has a Secret ID too, but that doesn't seem relevant for this exercise. And yes, Lugus is potentially the thorn in Brood's side with his ability to transform into light etc - hence the attempt to avoid direct confrontation but still give Lugus the willies. Every time I've used Brood PCs have jumped at shadows for weeks afterwards
  5. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. I have. Aren't you the lucky one then?
  6. Re: Need help getting a character I'd suggest losing the combat skill levels +3 DCV and +3 with tight group of maneuvers (24pts) and buying +10 DEX, Only in Hero ID (-1/4) for ... 24pts. And if you can find the extra, buy it so you get +25 DEX total (35 DEX is pretty rocking, and very Speedster-like). Also gives you that extra SPD that you said you removed to buy EGO (although PRE is quite effective and cheaper). Also shouldn't your Density Increase and Multipower be bought Only in Hero ID too? And how about slashing out on the points you save there and buy some Instant Change? Also your Multipower slots have some weird costings on them from my POV... maybe you need to rework it slightly? Otherwise looks a fine (if a bit munchkin-y)
  7. Re: Algernon Files Questions I have bought and enjoyed reading both PDFs. Thanks. I'll be using them in the near future. I know that's not really a question... but I don't care Ok, here's a question - what Power Levels (active point levels, OCVs, Defs, Spds etc.) would you recommend to run with for heroes participating/interacting with heroes and villains from each book?
  8. Re: Fourth-tier super-teams Just grab every Fortean cliche you can think of like investigating cattle mutilation (ok, one cow... but it was mutilated. By a were-cow having a lover's spat. Don't ask.) Give them a suitable rouge's gallery e.g. Randomopolis (a wannabe megalomaniac with one problem - his powers, while reasonably powerful, work in a fully random fashion. Think a Multipower with six slots, with each one corresponding to one side of a die). Mostly, have fun.
  9. Re: ONE power: what do you do with it?
  10. Re: A Comparison of three Martial Artists. Ummm Enforcer, you are aware that Golden Tiger's Dragon Fist attack would max out at 4D6 damage given the way that advantaged Hand-to-Hand attacks and STR interact, right? Otherwise nice folk you've made there.
  11. Re: ONE power: what do you do with it? How about INT or PRE? I reckon 80 active points of either would be pretty handy.
  12. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Tonight's Game: The hero group has a mystical artifact that they are trying to keep away from the baddies. It's decided the teleporting brick (Avalanche) should keep it in his possession, and the NPC team gadgeteer (Dr Brass) is asked to make a helmet that can stop Avalanche from being mind controlled. Piston Joe's Player (OOC... at least I hope it was OOC): Yeah, we need to give Avalanche a purple helmet. Us: WHAT??? PJP: A purple helmet. *Players fall about laughing and double entendres abound* Note: Purple Helmet is a colloquial term for phallus. Edit: The player was referring to Magneto's anti-Professor X helmet which was meant to block mental powers. However, it took him about 5 minutes to explain this to us and about another 5 minutes to understand why we thought "purple helmet" was so hilarious as he didn't see the phallic connection.
  13. Re: I have never used a VPP I've used a VPP for magic for before, and it worked. I've also used multipowers for a system based around elements. One house rule I've used in the past that's worked has been to have 1pt spell familiarities for each spell the character knows, and limited the maximum number of spells the character can learn to their INT (e.g. 10 INT = 10 spells max). This is why older wizards generally can learn more - their INT goes up with characteristic maximums and the aging disadvantage. Also the VPP was generally only for dedicated wizards - others could buy individual spells and granted powers.

  15. Re: Four-armed Restrainable stingers 1. I wouldn't necessarily buy the stinger as restrainable, because you don't buy your strength as restrainable because you use the strength of your arms. So no. But if the stingers are break-off-able and re-grow-able without doing any harm to Boll then you might have a case for them as restrainable or focii. 2 and 3. Moot really. 4. I'd simulate the 4 stingers with Autofire x4 and 6 penalty skill levels to counteract autofire penalties. I'd make the NND linked to the stingers, but probably wouldn't put autofire on that too. Instead I'd just make it one hit otherwise it seems broken to me. It depends how big it is. You could always put the stingers themselves in a multipower and have a variety of stunts you can do with them, and then link the venom to the multipower. Also to simulate the four arms I'd add some OCV levels based on the multiple attacker bonus (+3 OCV) and some extra STR, only to escape grabs and entagles (+10 STR). Hmmm... I should re-build a couple of many armed characters too
  16. Re: Wanted, South American Supervillains ! You might find something in tribe's thread Around the World With A New Character Each Week.
  17. Re: Time Travel Hero Resources Western Hero was pretty decent book for that time period.
  18. Re: CHAMPIONS REVISED -- If We Do It, What Would You Like To See? Hmmm... I keep coming back to what was in the back of the old BBB and earlier editions - how about a couple of fully fleshed out interconnected adventures using the villains in Champions complete with maps, plot trees, and XP award recommendations? Players could play the sample characters or make their own. You could even include a couple of new villains specific to the adventure(s). I must have run and played that Viper's Nest adventure a couple of dozen times (with variations) over the years - it was great fun. Also a great introduction to GMing for newbies. Also I second some photocopiable generic location maps, and even some generic objects (cars, benches, pedestrians) to cut out and place on the maps.
  19. Re: [build Challenge] Kid Emo (Supervillain) Nothing hurts like the pain of living: 75% Resistant Damage Reduction vs Physical, Energy and Mental Damage, vs Stun only No one listens to me: Darkness vs hearing group, No range, Personal Immunity You don't understand me: INT Drain, Ranged Leave me alone: TK, vs Radius, No Range, Only to Push Away, Personal Immunity No one notices me: Invisibility to everything
  20. Re: How do I to build a Lightcycle Running or flight as above with a linked force field to represent the extra defense the cycle provides. Probably some sort of limitation so that the only attacks the player can make are move throughs, and that the cycle can only go on smooth surfaces. Also link in an entangle or forcewall with the Trail advantage from the Ultimate Speedster to represent that line thingy behind them. The entangle would stay up, but could only be used to create barriers (another limitation). Maybe add some extra PRE or COM too, because it looks so darn cool
  21. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? The video editing software we use is Pinnacle Studio 9. We're running on pretty crappy (now) 5 year old computers so it's the best we can do at the moment. It's nice and user freindly though - good for beginners - and has a few features that make it good for more advanced users. And the class for the most part understood the narrative of Memento, but we're going to discuss the ramifications of that tomorrow Oh, and I think we'll watch Silence of the Lambs or Falling Down for an anti-hero. And I guess I could use an assistant, if you work for free. In fact, maybe you need to pay me
  22. Re: [Question]Three Unusual Powers With GM permission and the spending of some extra points the base form can be Bruce (less points). The example of multiform in the book uses a 350pt chracter who can turn into a 400 pt dinosaur after all...
