I stand corrected. Suspect it might count as early series weirdness.

Say you have a bad guy company, something like the old Union Carbide. And they are responsible for an event, like Bhopal.
Now, have the Dissidents target the company. Kidnap executives and ransom them back to the company, especially in developing countries. Blow up machinery. Sabotage building sites and infrastructure.
Best part? How conflicted the PCs will be about stopping them...

Maybe a "Dark Net" site. A hangout for pro-Vigilante types with an otherwise innocuous Patreon-style system.

I do exist. Even if I'm not what I think I am, I still exist, and I'm still me.

I think 5th is a great system, and for me the first one I really loved (though I started with 3rd) was 4th. I'm still of two minds on 6th - it's a purer system with everything equalized as far as stats go, but I don't find it as fun to play.

Oddly enough, probably a modified version of Aberrant.

    Eindecker

The first "German" invited to the team, Eindecker serves as scout and fast recon. Compared to other fliers he's not very fast, but his maneuverability and agility are tremendous.
Friedrich Melies was born in the Alsace-Lorraine area, and grew up speaking French and German all but interchangeably, but eventually moved to Germany where he got his doctorate. He became a very good aeronautical engineer, and worked on the Euroair VTOL fighter programme, only for that programme to be shut down and his applications for several patents denied on national security grounds. Angry and disgusted, he built a flight suit using the vectored thrust technology he had been working on, which he was able to massively miniaturize. His problem is that the system has serious weight limits, restricting him to a small number of fire-and-forget missiles as offense, and only very light armour.
His name comes from the Fokker E. III Eindecker ("one deck", what we now call a monoplane), the first dedicated fighter to be used by Germany in the Great War. He commonly wears the Eisernes Kreuz (Iron Cross, German military symbol) on his chestplate. This has made him a lot of enemies in the German military.

    Tactica hates it here.
That's not her real name, of course, but it's about as close as the monkey-boys of this benighted world can manage, and the meaning matches pretty well. She (again, an approximation) is a high ranking member of the military nobility of her homeworld, and is used to the finer things in life. Like slaves, wealth, the finest craftsthings competing for her favour in the making of her weapons and armour, fine foods...yes, she pays for it by subjugating the enemies of the Tetrarchy, but that's hardly difficult most of the time. Can even be enjoyable.
Now she's stuck on this miserable mudball. The atmospheric pressure is too high, gravity is too low, it's far too humid - and since she was travelling to a conference, she has to do with the off the shelf weapons and gear their ship had! Worse, this mass produced garbage is wearing out - soon she may have to use some of the pulson-based garbage the hideous locals produce. Oh, well, at least she can get a work out by beating the local "elite warriors" into paste...

    The Hippie

Where did the Hippie come from? The '60s, man! If he ever had an identity beyond his supranym, he lost it long ago in his haze of acid and other drugs. By rights he should be well and truly dead - at any one time he has far more then a lethal dose of multiple drugs in his system. But he just keeps on going, year after year - what year is it, anyway?
The Hippie's only real power is his regeneration, which may be the most powerful on record. He's literally been flattened by a falling wall, and when the wall was pulled back up, out he popped, good as new. Burning, acid, radiation, cold - they all affect him normally, for about a second. Then he shrugs them off and keeps doing whatever it was he was doing.
He's not usually all that much use in a fight, but he can't stand seeing his "little animal comrades, man" threatened or hurt. He'll even get uncool about it and pull out his .44 Magnum revolver. And sometimes he even remembered to load it.

Devoted to their cause, these five super-powered activists want to do good, but their values are twisted, seeing animal rights as being far above mere things like human lives.

    Movietone

Movietone loves the silver screen. Speak of a movie, chances are he's seen it, even if it's obscure - he's claimed to have viewed The Day the Clown Cried. ("Yes, it really is that bad" he says.) His knowledge of film and film history is encyclopaedic, and he's written several review books under other pseudonyms.
    Pity he's a complete sociopath.
His powers would indicate he's some kind of low-level reality warper. He changes his appearance and gear by spinning around - including the weapons he wields. He only uses this to replicate various movie scenes. He suddenly becomes Jimmy Cagney with his classic line "Made it, ma, top of the world!" before emptying a revolver into his victim, or Crocodile Dundee saying "Nah, that ain't a knife. This is a knife." Whereupon he stabs the person with said knife.

Think there's enough material here for five.

Cerberbull is exactly what his name implies - a three headed Minotaur. Myth Master wasn't entirely happy with it - he doesn't especially like mixing his myths, and it was Theseus who fought the Minotaur of Crete. But, it counts as both the Cretan Bull and Cerberus, and Myth Master was running out of options.
Cerberbull's teammates aren't over happy either. The beast is stupid, brutish and likes to eat people. But it's undeniably powerful, and very little tends to remain after one of the creature's "triple charges".

    The Bull

Millions of Buffalo have been slain, most left to rot where they fell. The gods of the plains were offended beyond measure - there was no balance to this, no fulfilment of need, just greed and politics.
There was a single bull buffalo. His herd was dead - he was the last, wasting his days in mourning and aimless drifting. The gods chose him as the instrument of vengeance.
They granted him sapience, intelligence, language, and a humanoid frame. And they stoked his rage.
The Bull does not blame everyone. He is smart enough to understand where the blame lies. So he has allied with the Terrible Nine, to bring his Gatling Gun (modified to be a PISTOL) and immense strength to crush Champion City and begin the drive of the settlers from the land.
The Bull is huge, fifteen feet tall at the shoulder, and wears nothing but a harness to carry his weapons. He is quite capable of smashing a stagecoach with a single blow, and has survived a cannonball hit (though he took a month to recover). He gets along best with 30 Ghosts (recognizing their fellow desire for revenge) and dislikes the authority symbols of Bloody Star and Sgt Blue, but recognizes their purposes work with his own.

    Outlaw No. 2

George Starr claims descent from Belle Starr, but he's probably lying. He's a little more meticulous than No.1, and usually uses actual, antique 1880s guns, though he's smart enough to use double-action revolvers and cartridge based weaponry, as well as slightly fancier, more gambler-styled gear.
He's also more careful in planning out operations and checking to see all bases are covered, so he does a lot of the group's legwork and setup. He wouldn't call himself the leader of the group, but he often is by default.
Not to say he isn't as ruthless and vicious as they come. No.2 Has been known to slaughter large groups of bystanders as a "lesson" to supers or law enforcement who got too close, or to eliminate the possibility of witnesses. But he's always doing what he does for a reason and with steel self-control.

Hayseed is an older guy, looks like someone's favourite uncle. Tall and lean, he seems a jovial and easy going fellow, usually wearing classic farmer's overalls and chequered shirt.
Looks, in this case, are deceiving, Timothy Rowan made a pile of money by exploiting his encyclopedic knowledge of plants and understanding of genetics. He'd find a well-running farm and stealthily sow crop killing plants in their fields, looking like the very crops they were destroying. When the farm went bankrupt, Tim would buy it cheap and rehabilitate it, easy enough when he knew exactly what was wrong. After a couple years of bumper crops, he'd sell the land again for a massive profit.
Tim's brutal ways were uncovered by Colonel Clemson, a "southern gentleman" super. What really annoys Tim is that Colonel Clemson is a classic brick, super strong, extra durable and dumb as a post. Clemson stumbled across Tim's methods purely by fortuitous accident.
Since being denied his source of income, Tim has invested his remaining money in creating super plants. He can throw a seed and the instant vines will entangle a target, or a huge venus flytrap will spring up and attack, or a wall of plant will form. As Hayseed, he plays up to all the farmer stereotypes, even having a grass stalk in his mouth...with the seed on the end being one of his venus flytraps, of course!

    OK, I'll have a go:

    Mary Blake

Mary's been it all: Prostitute, Madame, Fence, Hack Sawbones, and on occasion, Killer. She made a pretty fair chunk of cash over the years, too, and when she moved to Champion City a few years back she bought a nice saloon and figured to go straight for the rest of her days, living off the proceeds. As Mary Worthing she kept the liquor straight, the gambling honest and the girls clean - after all, she knew all the tricks.
But her past caught up with her. There was a warrant for her arrest in Virginia, and while that didn't matter here in the Territories it got a bounty hunter on her trail. He botched the capture and Mary shot him dead, but her previous existence was revealed to the folk of the city. The "good folk" of Champion City (many of them regulars at her saloon) turned on her, and burned her out. Mary got on a horse and left with a rifle, her working gear and the clothes in her back - and the lives of both the town sheriff and mayor.
Mary joined up with the group outside Deadwood, when they had a bit of a dustup with the local hard men. She set a few bones, pulled a slug out of the boss and generally made herself useful. She's now their background specialist - logistics, selling stolen goods, medical help, she's the go to. And a dead shot with a Winchester.
    New Group: Vegan Rising

Greenpeace? Bunch of pansies. PETA? Nowhere near radical enough! Vegan Rising demands change - right now! No more killing of animals! No more pollution! No more clearing of wild lands! And if you do any of those things, we'll kill you on the spot!

Vegan Rising may have had good intentions to start out, but they sure as heck don't now. Five members.

    The Proud Man

How old is the Proud Man? Even he isn't sure. The human brain isn't designed to keep memories that long. But he knows he has studied at the Sankore University and Mosque before the colonial era, and he remembers things sometimes...things like seeing the Pyramid complex at Giza, under construction near the glory of the Sphinx.
Appearance wise, he has the mien of an African plains warrior, over six feet in height, with a muscle definition that would make most bodybuilders envious. His eyes are a deep brown color, and while he largely used to shave his head, these days he has long flowing dreadlocks.
His current position as a hero is rather new, as well. The Proud Man still has arrest warrants out for him in both France and Britain, because the one thing he has never tolerated has been the European colony system. Any time Africans fought for independence, the Proud Man could be counted on to make an appearance. In the days of flintlocks and swords, his presence could change the course of a battle - but he was only one man. When Maxim Guns and repeaters began rule the battlefield, he learned the skills of the guerrilla, and eventually traded his long spear for an AK47.
But today, he has largely renounced political causes, seeking instead to protect the people where he can and serve as a symbol of emerging Africa. He's a lot happier these days too.
The Proud Man is a combination brick and martial artist. His skin and bones are steel-hard, and he'll basically ignore anything less than a 20mm shell, while he can easily lift a bus. But it's his skill that makes him deadly - literal millennia of experience have honed his skills to the point of being all but unmatched. He can handle any spear, throwing club or short blade with superhuman skill, and unlike many in this day, he has no problem using lethal force if he deems it necessary.

Possibly one of the funniest moments we've had:

The players have started a new hero team and only that day came up with a hero team name. The meet up with the bad guys...

Hero: "All right! Now you're going to have to deal with us! We're..." (player looks at other players) "Who are we again?"
