  1. I doubt my last post is even remotely old English. Have you tried a cartoon character? I don't mean a daffy-duck, bugs bunny character. I mean a character who is a cartoon character but can be funny or serious. I have such a character myself... A device carrying character. A normal person with relatively good stats who relies completely on devices and gadgets. A 'telepath' who has no Ego Attack. Instead, uses a wrist gauntlet to blast his/her opponents. Car-man! My only power is to turn into a car - too bad it's a Model-T! (it's been an ongoing joke for a long time in my game.) Wraith Always desolidified, his drains affect the material world. Has full Life Support. Horror A hero who scares people with his ugly face. A suggestion is to add an no-range, always on, AE attack NND (Def: 20+ Ego, Pre 30+) which scares people/villains into unconsciousness.
  2. Ah, our mission tis not finished til thine Acroyear doth picketh an idea victoriously. So much for old English...
  3. Let's see... in the campaign I'm in, we have one supergroup in downtown Los Angeles, one in the outskirts of New York state, one in heart of New York City - only 10 minutes away from Central Park, one in Chicago and finally, one in Santa Barbara. Wow, five supergroups and they're all being used - not too shabby.
  4. Re: Something I heard from a friend... I have a very general power level houserule: 10-12 SPD - We'll decide that if it happens 8-9 SPD - roughly 8 dice of damage 6-7 SPD - roughly 9-12 dice of damage 5 SPD - depending on concept, 11-15 dice of damage 4 SPD - up to 20 dice of damage That's it. Some of you might be gawking and saying 'That's it? Your players will run rampant.' Actually, I really glad to have a great campaign with seasoned players. I almost never have to concern myself with limits because the players limit each other, freeing the GM to do what he should be able to do in the first place - concentrate on running the campaign. I think OVERALL levels are for the guy or girl who's good at anything he does. I knew a guy in high school like that: A+ honors in everything, top athlete (though my brother beat him in Archery. ), student body president, usual good-looking jock, etc etc. Kinda makes you sick, doesn't it?
  5. Mike, seeing the old Champions book for your icon brought a tear to my eye.
  6. Re: Mega-Intelligence characters From what you're saying, it sounds more like you mean exceedingly good in their skills. I doubt Sherlock Holmes was super-intelligent. When I think of super-intelligent, I think of Marvel's Leader or maybe Mister Fantastic. What about Brainiac? Being supremely good at a particular skill or job does not equate to being super-intelligent. I don't think Batman is super-intelligent but there's not doubting his detective skills.
  7. We had to find a 'disarm at range' to satisfy a player who wanted to throw his hat at someone and disarm him. I don't think that's what you're looking for though. Can you be more specific?
  8. Yes, you need Champions. Yes, you need the 5th Ed book. Wait, you need everything Hero Games has ever put out! Oh, you were serious. Well, then, just go with Rerednaw's advice. I gotta get out of work. Full day's work + lousy night's sleep = strangeness.
  9. Well, I don't know if this is quite the same but I'll throw this out. I have a character with roughly 20-25 sheets: 1 for the Character Sheet 1 for the Villains he's met 1 for the sheet I doodled on way back when as for the rest, well, they're a combination of old, cool looking sheets - not used but still cool to look at; a few sheets of other player suggestions how to use his small Variable Cosmic Power Pool; several pictures of the character ranging from B/W to color to variations of the picture; a couple sheets where I recorded Stun/Body/End use and kept it because by looking at it remember some most excellent episodes.
  10. True. However, I prefer some of the simpler statistics, or least the pictures.
  11. That's the one, which brings to mind 'Classis Enemies', which I also use.
  12. I use... The following are still used in my campaign: *2nd Ed. ENEMIES I *2nd Ed. ENEMIES II *ENEMIES III *some of INTERNATIONAL ENEMIES *some of NORMALS UNBOUND *book with Russian teams (forgot name, had CLOWN in it) *VIPER[/list=1] I'm sure there are a few others, I just can't think of them offhand. Naturally, personally created teams/villains are part of the campaign, also.
  13. I forgot to mention one of the interesting ones I might have kept. It was a brick with a 75 STR, 4 SPD, about 68 STUN or so and an amazing total PD and ED of about 40! Not too shabby for a random character, eh?
  14. Amusing I tried the generator a few times, then tried it with my brother. We got a few amusing characters - none we'd keep as player characters but interesting enough we might try in our Champions campaign. One of the funniest was quite powerful. Let's see if I can recall this properly: he was a super speedster with a 30 Dex and a 7 SPD. He could increase his SPD an additional +3 (now that's something to sit up and notice). He has superspeed; forgot the inches, and could do a superspeed burst to incredible heaping amts of inches. Now for the fun part. The additional SPD and additional inches cost END. What's funny about that? NONE of his powers, including the additonal SPD or inches had any reduced END on them! Oh, yes, he had 36 END...
  15. Mmmmmmm.... I guess you're right. AP can be easily nullified with hardened defenses. I do have one, repeat - one, character in my entire campaign that I'm aware of that has more than 1 level of hardened PD/ED. That character is mine, bwahaha! 3x hardened PD and ED! Sorry, I lost it there for a moment. Who wants to pay a +1 Advantage just to have APx2 on a single attack? Hm, still... that makes me wonder even more if Find Weakness is a bit too powerful for it's cost...
  16. I know this has been brought up before, but isn't Find Weakness a bit powerful for the cost? I give this a bit of thought, based on: Wouldn't it even up the cost slightly if the FW that is bought to affect every attack, that each attack must be separately rolled?
  17. It's certainly a different idea but if it works for your campaign, then go ahead. However, I'll throw this out for your consideration: the Hero Games books have gone through 4 changes/updates resulting in the 5th Edition rulebook. Not once in all the changes have the statistics changed. I'm sure that someone would have changed them if it really needed changing. Again however, you're the master of your ship and if you want to steer it into unknown territory, go for it. For myself, I think I'll stay in familiar territory.
  18. Unless I missed it in the 5th ed somewhere, I have a question with Find Weakness. If the Find Weakness if bought to affect all attacks, does the F.W. roll need to made once and the success or lack of it affect all attacks or does it merely allow any attack to roll to see if Find Weakness took effect? Does one roll do it all for all attacks or does each attack need a seperate attack roll?
  19. Ah! Thanks, Monolith. I appreciate the insight on the skills. Yep, I'm definitely getting them for my sharpshooter. I'm going to print them out and put your post in my 5th Ed book. I bet no one's ever done that before with one of your posts, eh?
  20. Kefrem, I have a few questions regarding Lightspeed. His Str and Con are higher than 10 but his Body isn't. It would seem to me that any superspeedster would have Body higher than 10, if only a little to withstand the sudden turning, speed acceleration/deceleration, etc etc that would occur. Also, his Int, Ego, Pre and Com are also left at 10. Is this because you ran out of points or intentionally left this way?
  21. Thanks for the info on the pulled module. I've seen it before on the threads but couldn't recall it off-hand.
  22. I have read, reread and reread the new skills for Autofire over and over now. In my opinion, the new skill descriptions are confusing! Could someone shed some light on the four autofire skills for me? I have a sniper hero that could probably use them.
  23. Re: Old Hero System books. Yes. I have all the Adventurer's Club issues, the majority of all older Hero Games. Um, I don't have the old Robot Wars... I take that back, I do. I don't have that one module 'Wings over something or another' (?) that got pulled off the shelves but otherwise, I think I have it all and most likely, use it all one way or another. Sorry, haven't looked at those by ICE so I'll include those I don't have in the above. Same as above and I don't know. Sorry.
  24. For the most part, I agree. However, in a recent character that was created in the campaign I'm in, something like that was allowed. It was the only one like that but it was allowed. A special case, I'll admit but it was still allowed.
  25. There are numerous websites with the Flash's stats created. I do not personally use them as statistics are generally created in accordance with how powerful they are perceived by the creator of the statistics and how they fit into that campaign. I've seen Thor's stats with a 40 Con and I've seen him witha 83 Con; I've seen The Hulk with a 30 Con and I've seen him with a 90 Con. If you do look at the Flash's stats, take them as general.
