  2. Re: Section 8 & the Ward Sort of a super-powered Broken Badges. Great idea.
  3. Re: Campaign: Classic Champions Universe Hero Central is a play-by-post online gaming tool used by a lot of folks from these boards. You can even access the site through these boards (in the Gaming section of the Forums listing). It is moderately easy to learn and very easy to use thereafter with some pretty cool features. I'm not in any games myself lately and often go to HC to read their posts and game vicariously through them .
  4. Re: Campaign: Classic Champions Universe I think the scope of this campaign is way too big (ie awesome) for your local gaming group. It belongs to the world now and should most definitely be run on HeroCentral. Yes. That's it.
  5. Re: The Champions Universe's mightiest archetypes Thanks! I accidentally started a flamewar in the NGD a few months ago. I felt pretty bad about it and decided I really have no business posting there. I pretty much only read the Champions forum now.

  7. Re: Down the street from Rosie's Hmm. I got 73 views and 0 replies. It looks like I am not alone. Fine, I will do it myself. Let's say I were to make this; a four-block map. Let's say I made it a PDF file that you could print out and assemble together to make a giant map. Let the record show I am no Keith Curtis. I would have to draw these by hand and I'm not saying for sure I have the time to do this well. If you were to buy this product what would make you happy? -How big should the final map be when pieced together? 4X4' fits on my table pretty well. Pick a size. -Let's say this area is lifted from downtown Millennium City. Where is a good fit? I would like to find a spot on the MC map that makes good sense then later we could add to it. -Name some kinds of things you would like to have incorporated: a certain store front, throwables & Big Wrap Up fodder, hiding spots. Do most of you use actual 1" hexes or could you be happy with smaller? I'm a paper chit guy myself so this is OK with me. A smaller hex would prevent the use of most miniatures I have seen. Thoughts? Let 'er rip!
  8. Re: The Champions Universe's mightiest archetypes Thanks and repped! I have CKC, CU 1 and 2, Champions, VIPER and Millenium City. I see now I need more. Is Vector from the Ultimate Speedster? There are a bunch on here I hadn't heard of. How about weather-manipulators? Ice powers?
  9. I was looking at the stats for Menton this for morning. He is regarded by most to the mightiest mentalist in the CU...right? I haven't read Vibora Bay or DEMON but I know he is at the top of his game. There are lots of CU characters, some with similar archetypical concepts. Who then are the ones, like Menton, considered the best in class (speedster, magnestism guy, sonic blaster)? Who are your favorites?
  10. Re: THE BOOK OF THE MACHINE: What Do *You* Want To See?
  11. A long long time ago when my regular gaming group existed, I had made a rather large town square map starting with the traditional Rosie's Cafe street map that came in the Champions box (the same map i believe is available in the Hero System Resource Kit). I had extended the street in all four directions using four full battle mats. Sadly, though the breakup of my gaming group, multiple moves and a marriage I have lost these maps. Has anyone else done something similar? I also had the shopping mall from Target Hero printed on a plotter in full game scale (1"/2M). It too is long gone. I have Champions Battlegrounds and the worst scanner in the world. I can print that out Megascale when I get it scanned. We've had many "what maps do you have" discussions. Does anyone have a large city block (or 4!) you can share? Thanks! BW
  12. Origin speculation I know Joss Whedon caught some flack for what some thought was an easy way out but I rather liked the idea of the X-Men's Danger Room going nutty and trying to kill everyone. Alien technology + a deliberate programming to find and exploit the team's weakness = good fun...the same drama intended in the final battle of Champions Battlegrounds.
  13. Re: THE BOOK OF THE MACHINE: What Do *You* Want To See? Cool. I'm glad to hear it. It only has to make sense to Mechanon and really can be logically unsound. His reasons may be that the human form (upright, biped) is the most efficient. OK by me. I wonder what he would say if questioned about it. His hatred, his human form (heck, he is even "male": a very organic idea) are all features of the organic beings he so strongly opposes. I have always, from Mechanon's first appearance, wondered what his "voice" sounds like. James Earl Jones? Stephen Hawking? Peter Frampton?
  14. He still looks like a people! I have always wondered why Mechanon's physiology always manifests as an organic analog. I can accept that each iteration is an incremental improvement on an original design which was bipedal but I would think his disdain for organics would lead him to adopt a more machine-like appearance.
  15. I have a character, Wombat, with many enhanced senses. He can see in the dark, hear a gnat fart and track a mouse in a Febreze factory (I've actually been to Febreze factories, they are...fragrant). Because his senses are so finely tuned, I would imagine they are more easily Flashed than the average character. A character that can hear your heart beat at 20 yards must jump out of their skin when church bells ring! First, do any of you buy Flash Vulnerabilities for your sense-heavy characters? Second: If you do, do you buy them individually (Visual, smell, hearing)? Perhaps a Vulnerability is too much. Physical Limitation: sensitive eyes, ears and nose?
  16. Re: Burnout in a Multipower - Defender's EB Ok, that's fair. If I did want to build this in what else would I need? The Overload Blast is the only slot that can trigger the burnout (the only one with an activation roll at all) but when it goes it takes the whole MP with it (or to Captain Obvious' point, Jammed until Defender can fix it).
  17. I was looking at Defender's writeup in CU:NOTW this morning and saw his Overload Blast has an Activation with the possibility of Burnout. That power was built as an ultra slot in a Multipower containing several different EB combinations. If the Overload Blast does Burnout, will it take the whole Weapons Array MP with it? This may be a matter of sfx but all these EB's are basically built from the same Focus. I am guessing the official answer is no but I am curious to know what everyone thinks. Talk amongst yourselves.
  18. Re: What if Dr. Destroyer.... I just can't shake the idea of Age of Apocalypse here. Bad news.
  19. Re: starter villains Robots! A bunch of automated menaces (not Mechanon level but destroids are fun!) are a good way to have the heroes cut loose without tripping over Codes vs Killing or such. Seldom do real heroes get an opportunity to shoot to kill in a serial game with action consequences.
  20. Re: Who should be featured next? Panda!
  21. Re: News Headlines as Plot Seeds Thread Sorry, I know this is not "funny real headlines" but once here in Cincinnati, a tank truck carrying Olestra (faux cooking oil) overturned on I75 during rush hour. The actual headline the next day in The Enquirer was "FAT CLOGS MAJOR ARTERY".
  22. Re: Players earning plot points By the way, LT, welcome to the Hero Boards!!
  23. Re: Help me retrofit an origin...please.
  24. Re: OIF points come due: Defender vs Neutron So Defender takes KB even though he was hit with an attack that would otherwise not affect him? I suppose the armor takes the knockback and carried him with it. Thanks for the quick answer.
  25. So let's say you are a certain power-armored leader of a Millennium City superhero team. Your armor gives you 15 rED. Now let's say you are fighting a certain CU master of magnetism before he was neutered by the Millennium City penal system. IIRC, Neutron had a 7d6 RKA that affected metal only. Ironclad, who takes 2X stun from magnetic attacks and is made of metal pees a little and hides inside Rosie's diner leaving only Defender to take him down. Neutron fires all 7d6 at Defender and hits. As a GM, please describe how you would reconcile the damage even over multiple hits. I have never dealt much with breaking foci. For one thing, Defender's armor takes damage but he doesn't. Does that affect things like knockback?
