Avatar:The Last Airbender (Netflix). I did not see this show in first run. So on a friend’s recommendation, I have started watching it. Surprisingly dense, and balanced story for a supposed kids show. Good for ideas for FH.
So good! Keep going after. Korra is almost almost just as good!

Been bingewatching the show Community on Netflix and just finished season 2. Wow, what a great comedy. I can't believe I'd never even heard of it till 3 weeks ago.
We watched this and then something shifts for season 5 or after season 5, I can't remember when. The whole tone of the show changed not for the better and we had to stop. But up until then, absolutely. Fantastic show. Incidentally, it was the D&D episode that brought me on board to watch the rest (up until 5 or whatever).

Last night I watched the newest version of Electra-woman, and Dyna-girl. It was "ok". Overall I did not regret watching. 2 1/2 out of 5?
I didn't know about this. Watched it on Pluto TV. It was terrible. I loved it.

I imagine your opinions about Christianity had a lot to do with whether you liked The Book of Eli.
That's interesting and I think you're right.
I've observed a similar thing with a different movie. I've found many people absolutely adore or completely hate The Boondock Saints. (I fall in the I-adore-it camp). But I've wondered why this is. My best conclusion was some people who despise the movie see themselves as potentially being targeted by the Saints, mainly the scene where they shoot up the strip club (spoilers). This one isn't as much as one's opinion about Christianity (which it might apply to a degree, actually), but probably more one's opinion on morality.

The spiritual sequel to Cowboy Bebop. Same Director, Same Universe, Totally different Tone. Story of a pair of 17 year old girls trying to make it in the music business,.... on the martian colony.
Thank you for this. Had never come across this title before. Is that confirmed? Same universe?

Is this live yet? I'd like to see if there's a link.

Showed Legend (1985) to my daughter. But we watched the longer Euro version, which is much better than the version I grew up with. Although I did miss the Tangerine Dream music of that one, this version's music is much more fitting.

Watched one episode of I-Land and that was enough. Terrible.

Finally watched Baby Driver and absolutely loved it!

just finished Legion. So amazing! Easily top 5 shows for me.
rewatched Speed Racer. Every time I watch it I love it more. It's creeping up to in the 10 ten I think. I always get choked up watching it. Perfect cast.

I was surprised to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was at a 54% on Rotten Tomatoes. Seemed high.
I love the movie more and more each time I watch it. I believe its my 2nd favorite of the series now.
Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome rates nearly the same. Also one of my favorites.

I agree with them on Mars Attacks, Tank Girl, Hackers, Johnny Mnemonic, Stargate, Hudsucker Proxy, Men in Tights, and Heart and Souls.
Especially Hudsucker Proxy! It's my favorite Coen Brothers film, which is a very difficult spot to get.
Hudsucker is also my favorite Coen film. Hilarious!

Ok. Here's one...
Speed Racer (2008, 40% on RT)
I think folks saw the name Wachowski attached to it and figured it would be some uber serious Matrix movie but with the IP layered on thin like make up. Instead, it was true to the source material, kid friendly, and fun. A visual treat , not just with bright lights, but scene swaps that harkened to the old japanimation (IIIRC).
And with elements of the classic hero's journey. In the end, Speed Racer's innocence is tested, but he makes it through with his integrity intact thanks to support from friends and family and a never say die attitude.
Racer X was played beautifully by Matthew Fox and I swear the guy screamed superhero material in all the right ways.
And the state of ninja quality decay is mentioned in movie!
I'm going to say this... this movie achieved what it was trying to, it stayed close to the source material, and it looked great doing it. It is a GOOD movie!
There, that's probably unpopular with some
I love this movie. The first 10 - 15 minutes is amazing example of editing. You get the whole complete mythology of Speed Racer during his run to beat his brother's time record. Amazing storytelling.

And also, apparently, of Hayao Miyazaki's Sherlock Holmes. (Although the master left the series fairly early in its run....)
Indeed. Extremely fond of pretty much anything Miyazaki touches.

I'm very fond of Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes!

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.: Guy Ritchie applies his style to this movie based on the 1960s TV series with mixed results. A better script and less editing tricks would have helped. (Netflix DVD.Com Blu-ray)
I absolutely loved this movie.
