Quackhell reacted to Tech in Supervillain F.I.S.T.
There's a supervillain from V&V that I use called F.I.S.T. with a very nice acronym: Fighting Infantry Shock Troop. Some time ago for fun, I decided to run an episode where he had recruited more villains with similar acronyms:

    F.I.S.T.  (already mentioned)
    F.O.O.T.  (Fearless Overly Optimistic Trooper)
S.P.L.E.E.N.  (Super Powerful Likeable Easily Exasperated Nerd. Yeah, it's bad but at least I did it.)
    E.Y.E. (Ever Youthful Egoist)
H.E.A.R.T. (Highly Explosive and Rude Trooper)
    A.R.M. (A Rough Mercenary)

Yeah, I'm most likely not going to run this episode again but it was fun trying it one time.

    Triskaideka

"Trixie" to her team, Triskaideka (Greek for 13) is, as far as she knows, the only super-patriot Witch in the United States. She is a middle-aged, olive-skinned, dark-eyed woman who wears a costume in an aproximation of late-18th century colonial style, a long, generous red & white striped skirt (7 red & 6 white, of course), an indigo-blue blouse adorned with 13 pentacles, and a yellow bonnet circled by a disturbingly realistic beadwork rattlesnake (that actually rattles when danger is near). She rides a litteral witch's broom (a bough taken from a tree infected with basidiomycetes) named 'Old Hickory' which seems to have a bit of a mind of it's own, flying her with apparent reluctance, sometimes, enthusiasm others, and even attacking enemies on it's own. She always starts out carrying an olive branch, with which she can use mind control to enforce peaceful behavior - until an affected mind breaks free, then it bursts into flames - after which she produces a sheaf of 13 arrows and conjures a 'moon bow' to shoot them. She continues from there, conjuring various weapons and magical paraphenalia, often with only very obcure patriotic symbolism ("what does a brass mace have to do with America?" "it's the clapper from a really large bell!"). In spite of all her magic, she is as vulnerable to gunfire and other forms of violence as an ordinary person, and it's not too unusual for her to be killed outright in a super-battle. However, her body vanishes, and she 'reincarnates,' the next time "the clock strikes 1" (the 13th hour) - standard time, mind you - waking up in a random "National Historic Site," /usually/ in the same State. In addition to flight and combat magics, she can use Clairvoyance to see to any place US currency is exposed to the light (as if she were looking out the eye on the pyramid) - which is less than you might think, most bills being in a wallet, purse, cash register, vault etc, most of the time.
When, like any super-patriot, she waxes elloquent about her beloved country, she tends to emphasize Freedom of Religion, of Speach, and of /Choice/, and, like a hokey PSA, the importance of voting rights.
And, of course, she is very big on the 13th Ammendment, especially while beating on so called 'human-traffickers.'

    The Coven

While not powerful mages individually, the Coven can imbue one of its members with great power for a period ranging from one to, at most, 25 hours (from midnight to 1 am the following night). The powers gained, however, depend on the member's position within the Coven and the challenge they are trying to overcome, but generally center around one of: commanding an apect of nature, like weather or fire or plants or animals, transformations either transforming others into harmless animal forms or allowing the chosen member to assume a powerful bestial or mythical form, or influencing the senses or mind, or most severely 'twisting fate' to bring about certain outcomes without apparent direct agency. When opposing those who abuse magic, the Coven can invoke & enforce the "law of threefold return" which visits the trebbled consequences of malevolent magic back upon its caster or, on the other extreme, grant an obsessive mage the object of his desire in return for setting aside magical powers (thought it's depressing how often mages, when granted what they tell themselves they have taken up magical power to attain, instead choose to continue weilding magic for its own sake). When working with the other Messengers of the Goddess, the Coven will sometimes enhance an ally's powers instead of sending one of their own into action.

The Coven, itself, is subject to the Law of Threefold Return, but they distribute the consequences among the whole, thus their empowered representative can afford to use magic to harm or even kil - sparingly.

(Yes, that's meant to count as a single character, though they could also function as background 'agents' and support when not putting all their effort in empowering one of them to superhero levels.)

    Mirror-Mirror

Mirror-Mirror appears to be a human almost completely covered in a reflective costume that shows only their vaguely almond-shaped, dark, eyes. Their form is so distorted and constantly shifting that it is impossible to determine their bodily proportions, and they do not seem to understand any language nor do they speak except to laugh. Laughter that ranges from hideous and maniacal to carefree to lilting to childlike to bitterly ironic or even barely distinguishable from hysterical tears. Mirror-Mirror is a shape changer, or perhaps rather shape-distorter or even space-distorter, and changes size (growth/shrinking) and proportions (stretching) virtually every time they move. It's not at all clear if those powers are voluntary.

Hi, new to this thread, but I was inspired:

Leanne Washington was diagnosed with severe autism at an early age, but became comunicative and achieved some level of literacy and numeracy when her parents enrolled her in a special education program in Oak Park, taking her there on the Green Line 3 days a week. She developed an obession with the 'L' that probably drove much of her progress, wanting to read time tables and system maps, she would even talk to people to find out which station they got on and where they were going. But her greatest improvement coincided with the awakening of her mutant powers at puberty. She gained superhuman strength and speed (though neither to the level of powerful bricks or speedsters, the combination of the two makes her effective), and most of her more overt symptoms seemed to vanish, she became high-functioning and able to enroll in a standard middle school in a matter of months. Today 'L-Train' ("Ellie" to her teamates) is a stereotypical teen super-hero, very comfortable and even exuberant in the role, prone to risk-taking and not always following orders or coordinating well with the team, but always trying to do the right thing. She wrestles with whether she should stand up as an example to other neuro-atypical children, though, as she's not certain if she is 'real' or if it was all part of being a mutant. While she has trouble in everyday social situations, difficulty reading emotions and sometimes even recognizing faces, in the superhero arena where her allies & enemies mostly wear masks and colorful costumes, that's not an issue; but she does have an inconsistent vulnerability to PRE and mental powers, while she's usually fearless in the face of physical danger and terrifying foes she can also freeze up when confronted by a powerful personality or overwhelming stimuli. Her parents know of her superhero identity, and had to approve, as she was underaged when she joined the team, but her older brother, Leon, who was away at college when her powers manifested, does not, he is public defender who resents vigilantism and is sometimes a thorn in the team's side when they go after normal criminals rather than other supers.

    (too much?)

    Le Voyageur

A French researcher from the 1950s, Le Voyageur developed technology to explore and understand the many-worlds theorem by exploring the worlds thereby created. For years he sought knowledge and adventure throughout the multiverse, before choosing to return home.
Only then did he discover that time flows differently in different distinct universes. Instead of coming home to 1959, he arrived in 2019. All of his friends and family are dead.
Despite this tragedy, Le Voyageur has chosen to use his transdimensional tech for the good of the people and his new world. Most of his abilities centre around teleport effects - transporting the team, stealing opponent's foci, or in extremis creating a dimensional shearing effect right through them (though he avoids this as much as possible - he isn't a killer).
Many of his gadgets have a bulky, retro look to them. In the slightly over a year he's been back Le Voyageur hasn't quite gotten used to the microtech, sleek designs that are currently in use.

    S stands for--Saturn

The teenage son of the arch-villain Kronos--a scientific genius with a suit of superpowered armor.  In his alternate reality, Kronos was the greatest enemy of freedom and justice, determined to impose his will upon the entire world by any means necessary.  When the heroes of that world finally caught up with him, he had an escape plan ready--a gateway to an alternate dimension, our dimension.  What Kronos didn't count on was his son taking the path through the gateway for himself--and rigging it to self-destruct so that his father or anyone else could not follow.

With a scientific intellect rivalling his father's, Saturn is determined to make his own way in this new world and help its people, not impose his will upon them with brute force.  With his weapons and combat training he can hold his own in a fight with agents or low-level supers, but prefers not to fight at all, using his intellect to solve any problem and defeat any criminal.  Life is going well for him so far--but there is always the possibility that his father will come looking for him.  It's not something he cares to think about.

    Carathus Drax

Every supernatural group worth it's salt has to haver a vampire and Drax is that vampire for The Hallows. Able to walk under the light of the day or by night Drax drains life force in order to live. He tends to target those who oppose magic and promote technology but those who use too much magic also tend to end up on his menu. It took some effort for Doctor Abracore to get his bloodsucker as Drax thought he would be disposed of in the same way that Omega was. It became something like an epic romance as Abracore tried to convince Drax to become a member and Drax warily avoided him. It was not until The Hallows were at the mercy of Dr Esteban de Rodriguez, whose unearthing of the Mayan Supermummy had gifted him with vast magical power, that Drax joined their ranks. The Vampire drained Esteban's life force and restored the Supermummy to slumber.
Carathus prefers to act on his own but realises that team work has benefits.

Doctor Samuel Griff is the Plauge Doctor, a biologist specializing in diseases and viral pathogens. Once a doctor general to a small dictatorship, he was marked for death by that dictator for warning his people about a serious plague striking his people (who the vain dictator had no real attachment twords). He injected himself with a general anti-plauge serum he developed before being injected by the same plauge the dictator hoped would devastate his country's poor, he became immune to all diseases but a carrier to various diseases. After killing the dictator and his corrupt cabinet, he developed a containment suit to protect others from himself, unless he wants to infect them.

    New group: The Hallows
    Members: 6 to 10
Theam: The Hallows are a cable of spooky villains and anti-villains who get together to keep the status quo in the current superbeing universe.  They can do big good or big evil as they wish. All they care for is that the level of supernatural and non-supernatural remains the same in the world as they started. They are opposed to the Devil's Advocates, who want to increase the flow of mana in the universe.  But they also oppose other cables who want to totally eliminate the mana level of the world also. And they are free to use any means necessary to fulfill their goals.

The first member of the Hallows is Doctor Abracore, the founder. He was originally a stage magican who was secretly a powerful mage in his own right and a superhero. Till one day getting wind of a plot of the teams leader Omega to seal away all magic in the world. He rebelled against the team, arguing that not every mystic and mage and monster were evil and deserved to exist. But Omega wouldn't listen. So he opened a portal into Farie and sent him through and locked the door. Then he gathered the other members of The Hallows to enlist their help in keeping the status quo.

    Darkwalker

Shortly after Doctor Abracore recruited Hundun, the pair found a reference to a being of "great power and darkness" in some old manuscripts, supposedly locked away under a Buddhist temple in Cambodia. Travelling there, they found the temple had been abandoned years before, in the Khmer Rouge period, and they cautiously sought out the prison beneath.
The mystic wards were all but collapsed, and it took little to no effort to release the being they sought. What they found was a ball of pure darkness, but as they released it it coalesced into the shape of a woman with raven black skin and eyes. She explained that she was the Darkwalker, the guardian of the darknesses in the world, the blighted places and corrupted creatures that stood in the shadows of the earth, eternal enemy of the Lightwalker, locked - until her imprisonment - in eternal battle to maintain the balance between light and darkness.
Darkwalker found the purposes of the Hallows to her liking, and has joined them. She possesses a number of useful abilities, to go into an amorphous, intangible "shadow form", to create constructs of shadow essence, and to teleport from one spot of darkness to another in the blink of an eye. (Doctor Abracore suspects she has greater powers still, but is deliberately holding them back for her own reasons.) One thing disturbs her greatly - while she was locked away for 300 years, Lightwalker appears to have done little, and is conspicuous by it's absence in the world of superheroes and mages alike. She is unsure what to do about this.

Sonde Mentale is a French mentalist able to not only read people's minds, but also to pick up traces of their thoughts even after they've left an area.  An average-looking young woman, she often pretends to be the Faceless Man's shy assistant rather than appearing as a heroine in her own right.

    Targetted Cure

Sometimes one person in the right place can change the world. Sometimes one person in the wrong place can prolong a disaster or make everything so much worse. Targetted Cure - TC to most of the team - was a military Sniper who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. A clueless idiot officer, a sample of a seized bioweapon - if they had followed protocol everything would have been fine. Because the officer didn't, TC's squad died.
Now, TC removes obstacles from the path of making the world a safer place. Permanently.

This member of the group believes that only fire can cure everything so they are a more than accomplished arsonist. The name comes from an Elle Goulding song which they seem to enjoy singing or dancing to before they set fire to something or someone. She is content to let the others do their thing as in the end cremation maybe the only solution.

Since csyphrett didn't put up a new team, and that's six members to the Irregulars, lets go with something more current.

Viral Load is a team of six former medics or pandemic survivors whose minds were twisted by the virus or being caught in its consequences.  They think that they (and they alone) are qualified to save the world from the pandemic, as well as other threats (future pandemics, climate change, clueless politicians, unthinking civilians, etc.).  Of course, the end justifies any means necessary...
