  1. The middle one was totally brilliant (and disgusting, too) probably the best roleplaying story I've ever read.
  2. What are "phat lewtz"? Treasure, magic items, or is it something to do with bards?
  3. Re: aw shucks Golden Age: Nazi inventor. He wouldn't wear power armour, that didn't arrive until Iron Man. He'd build giant robots, zombification rays and the like. Iron Age: Keep the power armour, maybe give him a gun. He'd use his science to create cyborg killing machines and bio-terrors. Motivation and history would be non-existent. Change the name to just 'Destroyer'.
  4. Icon from early 90s publishers Milestone (I think that's the name). All their heroes were black. Icon was blatantly the black Superman.
  5. A doorless, windowless tower in witch-haunted Salem
  6. That's a really good idea (preceded by a really good analysis). I think I might just apply the randomness to their strength and toughness though, otherwise they really stop being a brick. There's only one character I can think of like this... Captain Caveman!
  7. 'du Beque' would be an unusual surname in the Glasgow slums, to say the least.
  8. Re: Energy Blasters Cyclops and Black Bolt are kind of a similar idea, aren't they? One can't look, the other can't speak, for fear of destroying everything. What about a 'brick' so powerful he can't move for fear of destroying the fabric of space-time? Or a psychic so powerful he can't *think*? If he does, our brains will explode.
  9. Dr. Anomaly: That was a big 'Aaargh'. Talk about Black Bolt.
  10. The character reminds of the similar black evil goo in the X-Files, which seems to be associated with aliens. Is there anything they aren't responsible for?
  11. Character: Dark Matter Substance name (popular): Soliquid Substance name (scientific): Morphomutative baryonic material If the character is a fun loving carefree sort he could instead call himself something like 'Gunkmaster' or 'Splurge'. If the game is Silver Age then you know what the 'scientific' name for the stuff would be? Unstable molecules. He has the power to produce and control unstable molecules. In fact, maybe he was the source for the FF's costumes?
  12. Scott Destroyer: Great suggestions. I particularly liked 'Tar Baby.' Calling yourself 'Dark something' was especially common in the late 80s, early 90s.
  13. Re: Re: Breaking Personality Stereotypes for the Archetypes That's a really good idea. Like Captain America who's really a German in WW2. Or a space alien?
  14. Sure, glad you liked it. BTW I always felt the default assumption is that anything posted can be appropriated without asking. The only rule I've ever thought holds is that one ought not to claim credit for the idea oneself. I think these are the same as the rules for Open Source software.
  15. I have an Irish Mr. Mxyzptlk analogue in my world. He's a leprechaun called Shamus O'Shamrock.
  16. Can anyone point me towards online Golden Age comics? Free, ideally.
  17. Re: Ted Kord write-up found! They can't. John and George are dead.
  18. Hey you gotta sympathise with the guy. Who wouldn't want to have their own harem of sexy catgirls? I sure do.
  19. You've pretty much got the lot. One might add: Ruler of a nation - Dr. Doom Wizard/occultist - Morgan Le Fay Monster - Fin Fang Foom, Godzilla OR Unstoppable engine of destruction - Doomsday, Hulk, Seth Robot with all the powers of a hero team - Amazo Cult leader - Brother Blood The international criminal conspiracy - Hydra, VIPER I tend to distinguish between world conquerors with armies like Attuma, Annihilus or the Anti-Monitor and those without - Count Nefaria, Dr. Doom With gods/demons I would distinguish between: Evil gods - Loki Satan-analogue - Mephisto Cthulhoid gods/demons - Shuma-Gorath, Cthulhu, Nyarlathotep
