  1. Re: Rules For Picking A Superhero Name "Wear Sunscreen" by Mary Schmich writing for the Chicago News Tribune, put to music by Baz Luhrman in "Everybody's Free (to Wear Sunscreen)" and by John Safran in "Not the Sunscreen Song", and mistakenly attributed to Kurt Vonnegut, who denies any involvement.
  2. Re: Reality Storm When World Collide There's also a philosophical difference about iconic characters at work here. The Champions occupy two contradictory roles, Millenium City's premier superteam and examples of beginning characters. The boys and girls in SAS cannot be built at the default settings for new characters.
  3. Re: "Teen Champion" to Regular I've been thinking about this myself. I'm starting a Teen Champions campaign in January, and I let the players know we have the option of continuing the characters into a young adult campaign. The transition should be a little easier for me, since I am allowing power frameworks (if I use the Hero System). I am forbidding only stat and skill inflation, and only at first, and handing out extra XP, ~50% of that going to "base", as well as Specific Awards to represent the course of their schooling. During the Teen phase of the campaign, I expect them to transition fairly smoothly to adult characters. In your case, I would plan an adventure around their graduation exam going all bullocks into an emergency situation, providing both transformational events and the classic "tempering fire". Ask your players to provide fully mature write-ups ahead of time so you can plan what happens to each in advance. Yes, I realize I'm contradicting Ghost-Angel's advice against jarring rewrites. That's the beauty of storytelling, RPGs and comics in particular; there really isn't one right way to do it.
  4. Re: A Champions Haloween Perhaps you should consider putting on more than a T-shirt and a hat. Just sayin'.
  5. Re: Immunity: Magnetism How about: DiaMagnetic Insulators: CSL +5 DCV, Persistent (+1/4); Only v direct Magnetic attacks/effects (-1); 15 real points. It's not complete immunity to magnetics, but much more elusive. Plus, it's scalable between what you can afford to buy at first and what your GM will let you get away with. Diamagnetics make for good rubber science. IRL, diamagnetics are weakly repelled by a magnetic field, though at a few orders of magnitude less than magnetic attraction. It's the tiny grain of real world science that makes the best comicbook rubber science and scifi technobabble.

Re: Super Names Excellent Fuzzy Champions name! I'm having difficulty taking advice on silly names from a guy going by Arkham. Just sayin'. Nope, not used yet. Ctrl-F is your friend. Alphabetical Order has heard of you and is bugging me for an introduction.
  8. Re: Champions (Super)Hero Resources Very useful compilation. Rep to you.
  9. Re: Sharing the Campaign ideas you can't use... yet Generations Campaign Phase I: Secret Supers The powers that be have sufficient control over the media to keep supers out of the public's awareness, relegating them to the stuff of supermarket tabloids. In reality, supers are considered to be valuable resources to be hoarded and controlled. Shades of Mage: the Awakening and other "shadow war" settings. The PCs are newly erupted supers with just enough knowledge to be wary of authority. Subplots will be driven by current events, with real life major media events reinterpreted as cover-ups for superpowered activities. Over the course of the plotline, the PCs learn enough to finally strike back at their pursuers. I plan for the plotline to conclude with blowing wide the conspiracy and revealing the existence of supers to the public, leading to Phase II (more on the subsequent plot arcs in further posts).
  10. Re: Cardboard Cutouts ...but try this post for something potentially useful. Photoshop in some more green content, and you get an extremely intimidating Viper heavy trooper.
  11. Re: Cardboard Cutouts Sorry, permission has been denied. I maintain my monopoly on my small army of Viper tentminis.
  12. Re: Cardboard Cutouts I should have on my home PC a rudimentary "color-by-filltool" image from a scan from the 4e Viper book. Posting it without permission would be a violation of copyright, so I will PM Darren/Steve and ask. That's assuming I still have it. I think so, but no promises. I'll check when I get home tonight.

Re: Super Names Corrected. Thanks. Nope. Celcius is gone now. Note that the entry resides in the Fuzzy Appendix and restart your pun services. On Champions Earth, yes. But the scope of the list is no longer limited to that setting. It is feasible that the contributor arrived at the name independently.

Re: Super Names Well that sure didn't happen. I've got some time set aside Sunday and some more on Monday if it goes long. Once more with feeling! UPDATE (Sunday PM): New names added, weeded, categorized, and sorted. Hunting duplicates, done through L. Roundup to be posted sometime in the next 30 hours.
  21. Re: Limitations You Would Like to See More Often Here's a Limitation for Speed I'd like to see: Each phase only works if plan of action is already made (-3/4). Now that's a pet peeve of mine. "Ultra Fury, you're up." "OK, um... What just happened? Where'd Darkvixen go? I was punching her in Segment 6. Oh, there she is. How'd she get there? Uh... OK... Hold on a sec..." ::reaches for rulebook:: GAAAAAAAH!!!!!!! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE!

Re: Super Names Judging from the results of a quick Google, Dämmerung appears to mean twilight, but specifically twilight at dawn. It appears to have metaphoric meaning closer to rebirth, rather than death as many English speakers (myself included) might assume from the translation Twilight of the Gods.

Re: Super Names Lord Recluse is a City of Villains thing. Having played City of Heroes for over a year, I'm looking forward to my invite to the closed beta. The iconic characters of both games will eventually be opponents to be faced by the other side. So City of Heroes players can try to put a smackdown on Lord Recluse, Scirocco, Captain Mako and Ghost Widow, and City of Villains players can gun for Statesman, Positron, Minx, and Synapse. Minx has already shown up in the E3 demo of CoV. She spawned at the entrance of the mission when the demo toon grabbed the objective and tried to kick his hoop.

Re: Super Names Having spent the last year being mastered by -er- mastering City of Heroes I haven't paid this poject enough attention. I'll see what I can do about a fresh roundup and some more additions this weekend. Not to quote a Viagra commerial, but... I'm back.
