Re: Super Names This weekend or next.

  4. Re: Super Team Membership Fringe Benefit Yah, that's one of the sticking points that's keeping the whole Team perk idea on the back burner. Like anything else in Hero, it's subject to abuse and needs to be examined with a skeptic's eye. One thought I've had is to limit physical stuff, equipment & such, to bases and vehicles, and allow a Team perk for the social aspects, contact & hunted & such. However, I've also considered relaxing the stricture against taking base equipment on missions. Weapons are out except in certain situations, but I want to encourage things like handheld scrambled/encrypted satellite communicators without forcing the players to pay for their own Megascale IPE Radio Hearing. Even with Fragile OAF, that's going to discourage a player who'd rather have a couple more slots for a multipower. I dunno. I guess it comes down to whether I want to give a hefty discount to encourage a specific behavior.
  5. Re: Super Team Membership Fringe Benefit In a similar vein, I've been considering a Team perk. Much like the Base and Vehicle perks, players shell out points at a 1:5 ratio. The point are used to buy reputation, access, contacts, mind link, foci, gadget pools, and so on. Disads can be added for more points and to replicate genre tropes like a group hunted or a negative reputation. The Membership FB could be considered the "price of admission" to get access to the shared points.
  6. Re: Spiderman Vs. Firelord IIRC, he was not. I think the Firelord trouncing predates the Secret Wars. Spidey's player had "had enough" and uncorked all his most abusive maneuvers that he swore to the GM that he would use only in the most dire circumstances. You know the type: minor brick + passing strike + pushed STR + levels for DCs.

Re: Super Names Sorry I didn't get to the promised roundup. June turned out to be busier than I'd expected. And July's looking worse. But I graduate this month and supposedly get my brain back. Woohoo!
  8. Re: [JCN] Bioplastic and SuperCostumes Aberrant's Eufiber was the primary inspiration for the Biofibre that features in my Cannibal Comics setting. Zakueins' Bioplastic is also good stuff, and I'll be stealing several of its properties for Biofibre. In particular, I like the medical applications and the spinoff smuggling application.
  9. Re: Galactic Champions I was mildly disappointed, if not terribly surprised, to find no Professor Muerte 3000.
  10. Re: Questions about StrikeForce Indeed, though the evidence seems to indicate that he is currently "getting to it." But with only one hand while the other five work on better-paying projects. He's implied that Strike Force is a labor of love, which is probably why the original struck us all as such a great book.
  11. Re: Questions about StrikeForce No argument here. He did say that since he's working on the Strike Force series in his spare time, we shouldn't expect to see the first one anytime soon, especially since he's writing them concurrently rather than sequentially.
  12. Re: Questions about StrikeForce Did a little web searching and found three interviews with Aaron Allston in which he mentions that he is currently working on a Strike Force series of supplements in his spare time. In the 2002 interview, he states that he may pursue self-publishing, perhaps without any game stats. Game Players Network 6 Jun 2002; Realm of the Dark Lords undated; holonet.org 15 Feb 1998.
  13. Custom Smileys for All!! Edit: Hey, HTML is off in this forum. OK, vB code it is. -grumble- Can't do the talking smiley trick with vB.

  15. Re: The Ultimate Brick Online submissions thread Don't break down my mental doors, and I won't steal your mental wallet.
  16. Re: What are the limits of superhero martial arts? I've studied Judo and a bit of SCARS. There is a large body of realistic techniques that will put a much heavier opponent on the ground with some force and take advantage of momentum, and thus qualify as a HERO martial throw.
  17. Re: The Ultimate Brick Online submissions thread Nice. Much like my hyper-intelligent character with Transfer INT as a mental Damage Shield as his consciousness virally "borrowed" some of your brain cells for additional processing.

Re: Super Names Ordinarily, proper names are out, but since costumed supers published as part of the 5e Hero Universe automatically get the nod, there may be some exceptions amongst the Vandaleurs.

Re: Super Names Let's tentatively plan to include the new names. I'm planning to buy these books as soon as I can get my grubby mitts on them, so you won't have to wait long for a judgement call.

Roundups Awright, more names! You'll have to wait 'til June for the next roundup though. This week, I'm taking my last certification test for an MCSE; next week, I'm moving; the following week, I'm starting on the final push for a CCNA certification, but I should have the mental space, with everything else out of the way, to do a roundup. When I posted the last roundup, I ran into server errors complaining of overflow. I sent Ben a message about it but never heard back, and I still can't edit the monster. So I'll be posting roundups in smaller hunks. Not only will I split the main list into two separate posts, but I'll also split the Fuzzies into a separate post as an appendix, which suggests additional appendices, such as Team Names and Silly Names. Warm up your keyboard, death tribble. You know you want to resubmit all those names I hated.
  21. Re: Machanon, odd request Don't forget: 800 pt perk, contact: Steve Jobs This is Machanon we're talking about. Let the Mechanon/Mac jokes begin.
  22. Re: Machanon, odd request Wow, that's the first time a post of mine ever preceded a posting-storm, however short. I'm normally a thread killer. I'll have to be negative and anal-retentive more often. That said, verbatim posting of material without the copyright owner's approval is still a no-no. I wouldn't dream of threatening the catsuit thread. Heck, it contains my tribute to Kara.
