  1. I am glad you had the forsigith to save the thread. Thanks a lot.
  2. keep posting them, we need them (they gave me something good to read)...
  3. This might be a bad idea, or maybe a good idea, but I was wondering and I think this would be really cool to play in, is combining the world of Game of Thrones with the magic of Wheel of Time in one world. Personally I think that would be cool as hell since I like both series equally for there own reasons. What do you guys think?
  4. Not only the Dragon 307 article, but I also read somewhere that there is going to be a hardback campaign setting about his books later this year for d20.
  5. if I had a group (wishful thinking at this point) then I would try to playtest your rules and let you know how they pan out. That said, college is kicking my butt right now and its taking away all my fun time that I wish I could have for writing my FF HERO game. That said, I like what you have going. Now that you have most of your rules, you should rewrite them all together and let us download them so we can read them all at once instead of switching back and forth on the thread (since they have been revised).
  6. Status Effects I was wondering if anyone has come up with anything regarding all the status effects that normally happen to characters in final fantasy games... things like poison, haste, slow, zombie, turned into stone, darkness, and the other 20 status effects or so. For my game I have decided that it might be easier to do a more normal final fantasy game as far as magic goes, using Black Magic, White Magic, Summon Magic and then also incorporate Weapon Techniques but now I am needing some helpful guidelines on how to work it into the HERO system. Any thoughts?
  7. Wheel of Time is cool. I have the d20 book for it but I think it would be sweeter to play it using HERO than d20. If any of you remember, what kinds of things did you come up with for WoT?
  8. Lisa, just out of curiosity but do you also play Exalted. Some of your powers look like they would come out of that game, which is also a cool game that I have read but never played.
  9. Lisa, what yahoo group are you talking about, I want in. Also, I wish I could play in your final fantasy HERO game. Your ideas are sweet. With school and studying hours at a time I have not much time to work on anything, and since school has started my studying of the HERO system has taken a second priority, which stinks, so I am not learning it as I want to be. Would it be possible to use http://www.rpol.com as a place to play online for some of you?
  10. Works for me. I think its cool. I adapt rules better with examples of how it would work if the mage was actually being played and the mage was trying to do this. Do you think you can provide an ingame example one of these days as to how this whole process works?
  11. Good stuff, but why the EGO roll in the first place?
  12. I am glad somebody asked this question because I was about to. It seems that there are many options available, each with its own bonuses and negatives...it can make it hard to decide.
  13. how big how big do you approximate the book to be? Would it be possible for you to post a brief snippet of the book for us to savor and drool over until you release it?
  14. YOU were LUG? I did not know that...I have been waiting for a really good DUNE rpg for a long time, its a shame that you can't publish it now. Sorry for the highjack but I did not know that you all had Dune and couldn't put it out. WotC sucks even more now to me.
  15. PBeM?? What about a PBeM game in the Terran Empire? Is anybody else up for something like that? I would like to be a player since I am new to it all but I think that there are a lot of sci-fi gamers here that would be able to make it a kick butt game.
  16. All those are great ideas, thanks for giving me some pointers. I appreciate it.
  17. two questions: do we need SHREd? FREd just came out. can't we all just get along and be nice to each other?
  18. I'm all for it, just tell me where I sign up. I have all my millions of pens and pencils ready. I don't hate WotC, I don't like them either. I do bet that most of the awards at the Origins Con went to d20 products though, is there any way to find out? I am curious. I hate d20. I am actually glad to like a game system where the author reads these message boards as often as he possibly can and replies and talks with us. I don't know very many others that do that also. If I could I would nominate Steve Long game designer of the year for Hero 5, and the rest of the company also. Way to go for a great product.
  19. Before I saw this I was thinking...what is Meta-Rule #6 as I open the thread, then I read the posts and I decided that I am not letting anybody in my group read this meta-rule and therefore save the headaches for something else.
  20. I already have it bookmarked Zoth What new developments do you have written down for your Channeling system C_Z? Are there any specific magic effects you would like help with first that you can use, or add to your website to make it prosper faster? Let me know.
  21. I was wondering what kinds of steps the many of you take when you decide to make a character. Do you guys write down your backgrounds first, or just work with the points and do the background first, or something else? I ask because I am new with the system still, its a lot to digest and a lot to get used to, and the one character i made took over 3 hours to make. It was okay, but not that great in my opinion, so I am just curious what you all do and how long it takes you to do it. Perhaps I will pick up some pointers that will help me out more.
  22. what I would like to do is somehow take the elements of both your systems and just put them in my game. I am not planning on starting my game for a good month or two (plus the lack of players does affect when it will begin)... I like both of them and when I someday use them I will let both of you know how they pan out with my group.
  23. I forgot about this, but another really good source of ideas is from all the many video rpgs we have available to play. Any number of them can give you ideas.
  24. To Master Steve Long: This is quick: does the defense on vehicles get reduced when being attacked by killing attacks that are armor piercing when damaging the body of the vehicle?
  25. My .02 1. I don't know if this is in the rules, since I am still a newbie for all intents and purposes, but I do know that for heroic games to use a weapon well without penalties you need a Weapon Familiarity for it...so why not do the same thing for armor and have Armor Familiarities, and if a person is wearing they don't have a familiarity in then they suffer OCV/DCV penalties because they are not familiar with them. 2. You could do it like others have already stated, present a penalty to DCV based on the type of armor and material its made of...or just entirely base it off the weight of the armor and maybe come up with a talent or perk that allows people to fight better in armor, which could simulate somebody better trained in armor and in this case the person spent some points to become better in armor and can lower his penalty this way. 3. Use the rules as is, but why do that... These are just ideas I have come up with, please reply to them and let me know what you all think of them.
