  1. Re: Worth a thousand words? “Ah, Queen Gemstone, what do we have the honor of your visit?” “Get off my throne Dark Stone.” “Tsk, tks, tks, You see I can’t do that my queen, because as you see; I’ve taken over your kingdom“ Guards Approach. The queen looks stunned. “Cornerstone? Onyx? Emerald? You don’t serve this mad man do you? “Oh, my queen they can’t answer you. No one can. You see I used the mind stones to control the entire kingdom. If it weren’t for your headband, you’d be controlled too. Now, off to prison for you where you will rot for an eternity. There is no one here that can help you. You are all alone now.” The queen blasts a blinding light over the 3 guards. They stand frozen in place. “That won’t keep them in place for long, and it doesn’t work on me or my loyal servants. That’s right my dear queen, I even control the council. You have no place to run my dear queen. The queen fires another bolt of energy at Dark Stone but misses. “Dark Stone, you may have this realm controlled, but I know another realm that would be immune to the mind stones. I will get help from there. “Realm, what are you babbling about now my dear queen? The council approaches. “There has GOT to be someone there willing to help me. “My dear queen, I seem to be doing you a favor. You have gone completely mad” Gemstone sits on the floor and chants. She glows. “What ARE you doing? The council can’t seem to get close to her, some sort of invisible barrier. “You don’t know everything I can do Dark Stone. I am going to a realm I call Earth. “Stop her!” Cornerstone, Only, and Emerald breaks free and head for the queen . The break her invisible barrier, just as she (with the 3 guards) vanish…
  2. Marvel's New Universe did it, The novel series "Wild Cards" did it (even though it was in the 30s), and even the TV show Heroes did it. What am I talking about? A sudden emergence of super powers. So I was thinking... What would you really do if you woke up with super powers? What kind of powers would you like to have? What kind of powers would you NOT like to have? Would it matter if only 1 in a billion people had powers vs 1 in 100 million, or even 1 in a million? Would you tell others? How do you think your life would change? Any other thoughts on the subject or questions that need to be asked (that I didn't think of)?
  3. Re: Evil org bases on chess pieces. I actually had evil chess character long ago. If I remember right.. Rook: Brick speedster. Always did the move through. Think Juggernaught. Knight: Actually rode a horse, and had a lance that had the Indirect Advantage. Bishop: I think he was a mystic with multiple powers King: Slow moving mentalist. The brains of the operation others had to protect. Good tactician. Queen: Most powerful woman. Damage Reduction, and energy projector. Pawns: 8 men with weapons and armor.
  4. Re: Paths Not Taken Bruce Wayne's father manages to knock the gun out of the mugger's hand and into his own. He gets the mugger to surrender. Bruce grows up fascinated by guns and becomes a fast draw, and sharp shooter. But crime grows with Bruce turning a blind eye to it all. When Bruce becomes older, he and his family are attacked at their mansion. In the process, his mother and father are killed, and it's from the same mugger as before. Bruce shoots him into a coma. But Bruce stops himself from killing the man. He decides that it's time to stop being "as blind as a bat" to crime. Bruce dons a costume, and becomes the Batman; the Dark Gunman Batman reaches in and rescues the man who would become Joker from the vat of chemicals. Batman reaches to rescue the man who would become Joker and falls in the vat of chemicals too.

  6. Re: Paths Not Taken Aunt May sees that Peter has forgotten his lunch and brings it to him in the science lab - getting bit by the spider instead of Peter Flash Tompson gets bit by the spider and gets Peter in the hospital with his new strength. He feels bad and visits Peter; while there, Uncle Ben gives him the "With great power comes great responsibility speech" (I wonder if his name would be Spider Flash?)
  7. Re: Fastest man alive OK, it looks like the Flash wins... But which one?
  8. Would your campaign fit in the Champion's Universe, or is it a universe of it's own. I currently GM 2 games. One is called Sentry City, which is located in the middle of the Champions Universe (Actual location is somewhere between Oklahoma City and Kansas City.) I have even used Champions villains, and have moved some discontinued members to Millennium City. But the other is called Aliens United. located somewhere in the vastness of space. Technically it COULD be in the Champion's Universe, but I don't think I'll be using any of the current resources. So does your campaign fit (even with some small changes) in the Champion's Universe, or is it SO different (like all animal characters / world) that it wouldn't fit.
  9. Re: Hero System Good Idea/Bad Idea... Good idea: A GM's imaginary world Bad idea: The GM's real world
  10. OK, here's a question: Who's faster: Superman or The Flash? Basically every time they ever had a race in the comic books, they get deterred by a villain. So, what is your opinion and why? Note: This is based on a running competition. Since flying would be unfair (not having to avoid obstacles and all)
  11. Is the FMove Martial Arts Maneuver basically the same as a normal Full Move? (Except, that you can make a 1/2 move first) There is very little information on the FMove Maneuver.

    Super City

Re: Super City Before I make another selection, let's hear a word from our sponsor: Do you need a list of some demon's real name? Do you need an old forgotten tome? How about a rare Atlantean song book? Then Strangely Convenient Rare Book Store is the place for you! So, Whether you are a villain looking for Shakespeare's unpublished works for your next schemes, or a hero looking for The "Common Unbreakable Codes" book. Strangely Convenient Rare Book Store is for you! Now for my suggestion Corner of Straight and Narrow: The corner former villains go to when they decide to go straight. But be warned, this street is not safe. Parents, lovers, or friends have been known to die to help guide some former villains through the corner of Straight and Narrow.

    Super City

Re: Super City One Super Retirement Home: The reliable retirement home where you can find any "retired" superhero, or villain when you need to find information that only they can provide. And even though their memories are failing, they always seem to remember what you need to know just in the nick of time, or find that last urge of surprising energy needed to go where they are most needed.
  14. Re: New to Champions. Just remember if a rule doesn't work for you, you don't have to use it. I've played in games that didn't track Endurance and games that do track it. It's all in "use what you like" attitude. Anyways, welcome aboard.
  15. Re: New to Champions. Combat can be intimidating for a newer player. What I would suggest is to practice. For example, in the book, there are 3 examples of good guys (Taurus, Eagle-eye, and Hardpoint) Pick one and have them go against Maelstrom from the book. Don't worry about the optional rules. Maps, diagrams, or other things may be useful, but not absolutely needed. Ask yourself "What is Maelstrom doing when Taurus (example) sees him? Is he robbing a bank? Is he just flying by? Look at Taurus, he is fearlessly heroic. So he'd probably go toe to toe with him. Hardpoint is a Macho daredevil, he may want to challenge him. And Eagle-eye is more cautious, so he'd probably want to follow him and see what he is up to. Then make up a character (if you haven't already) and ask yourself what they would do. Don't beat yourself up if the first 10 times you have to look at your character or the book to see how they get from point A to point B if you take one example character and see "OK, how does he hit Maelstrom?" Start with only the very very basics and then build from there. The very basics are: How do I get from point A to point B What do you need to hit How do you damage Can they take the damage. Things like knockback and even endurance can be added later. I hope this helps.
  16. Re: Sci-fi Champions Thanks. I would have repped you, but apparently I can't until I rep more people. I think the original question is getting lost. And I haven't even head a response for the Alien pic question.
  17. Re: Sci-fi Champions Actually I am looking more for layouts. Like where on the Enterprise is the holodeck. Or where on Babylon 5 is (insert species name) room. I like to make my own spaceship (a very very very large one) and granted Star Hero has the specs for some ships, but I am a visual person. I like to know where everything is before I actually start the game. Which is going to be fun since I just opened it up on Hero Central, and I don't even have a ship yet.
  18. Re: Sci-fi Champions Actually, Galactic Champions is too powerful. I was thinking more of the 350 pts range.
  19. Don't you hate it when you come upon the villain and need a quick one liner - but draw a blank? Or your playing the villain, the hero comes up with a great one liner; but you lack an equally snappy comeback? So if your going to be toasted by Dr. Destroyer anyways... or Gravitar has you pinned down (literally)... or Viper shows up with 100 more men... or you just need a general one liner... Well, that's what this thread is for.
  20. I need help in two areas. I am doing basically a super group in space. 1. Do you know where can I find layouts (diagrams, floor plans, etc) of famous television and movie space ships? 2. Do you know where I can find a good sight full of alien / creatures / and beings pictures (or more accurately drawings / computer generated) images?
  21. What relatively lower cost advantages (or combination of powers) do you think is the most effective. Perhaps even surprising. For example. Desolidfication is inherently invisible to Sonar, Radar, and Scent. So that added with a relatively low Invisibility would cover most senses. This may be very helpful for those with lower powered campaigns.

    TV to rpg

Re: TV to rpg No, it is not Hero System. I don't what the gaming company that made Serenity, Stargate, Farscape, or Babylon 5. I just saw the books in the gaming store (which is what prompted the question in the first place).
